The Herbalizer

I have mentioned that it would be interesting if herbie went up to 375f, to push the boundaries of extraction with it. And this coming from the only guy that managed to get herbie to combust (was acomplete anomaly). On the bright side herbie's abv has tons of goodies, I keep it separate from the rest of my avb because I can re-vape it late at night or when I'm out (usually with my sub turned up a watt), and still get decent (but less tasty) clouds out of it.

Does anyone have any pro tips on connecting the Herbalizer to the Roor Tech Flush Recycler (14mm male)?

I've been working on that myself :science:
I have @Mister G's solution lined up, but also another one for a 14mm male gg hose adapter,
either one works well with with some re-vapable fiber in it to help keep the roor clean.

pFOy38G.jpg

vynBhiw.jpg

I like this second setup a bit better because it's more compact,
and the green matches one of the rasta colors :D:nod:

But I'm most excited about my upcoming hose/hydrotube solution,
which somewhat nullifies the need for the above setups.

RdDfCtq.jpg

I haven't cleaned either of the hoses I use with herbie yet,
and I shouldn't have to again after this is in place;
hydrotubes should also stay clean (I'm lazy) if I use them with this.

It's a bit tall for ht usage, but it should also be useful for clearing/carburation,
and in keeping herbie dry. I'm Just waiting for my o-ring/bushing kit

I want a better brush. I don't know why, the one that comes with it works perfectly fine and has not broken. I just don't like it. Now it's out there, my biggest complaint about the The Herbalizer. You listening team Herbie!?!

I never used the stock brush. I found a nice stiff black plastic brush that was for an electric razor and have been using it instead. If I cleaned it up a little it would actually look as classy as herbie lol. I always try to find alternatives for the supplied accessories and keep the original unused, this time the bonus is a superior cleaning brush. In fact I would say that I've gone from a disposable brush to a real keeper, except for the fact that I will not dispose of the original equipment for completeness' sake ;)

So that's what herbie and I have been up to lately :buzz:

As far as extraction, my suggestion is to take the ABV and place it in your other unit to see if either one is capable of a more complete extraction. I was able to extract more goodies with my Evo from some LSV ABV I had. I never did try to see if the LSV could extract more from its own ABV so this isn't definitive by any means. But for those with a Herbie that want to compare how well it extracts, I'd try re-vaping its ABV with another unit.

I have tried revaping ABV that was spent at 445f from Herbie in my Infinity at least 4-5 times, each time ZERO additional visible vapor. When I do the same with the ABV from a PnP bullet that has gone through two cycles at different heat settings, I almost always get a couple more sizeable hits of vapor through the Infinity. I interpreted this to mean the Herbie extracts more fully as also evidenced in the more uniform ABV color.

I am hitting the Infinity more lately because I find it requires smaller amounts than Herbie and provides a heavier stone that I usually prefer, this is my unique experience. Herbie's high is subtler to me and more well rounded, I will often use it between Infinity hits to even things out. I have wondered how that would change if I could go up in temp a bit more, but I suspect the difference in vape signature has more to do with the ambient heat in each's respective bowl design than the convection heat airflows.

Hello guys, i have read the entire thread and i notice that some people complain about the balloon system who's let escape some vapor, not 100% sealed. For a 800$ vaporizer , that's not really great ......
I haven't an herbalizer, but in their videos i have found the one piece ballon amazing !
Can you guys confirm me that this problem happen sometimes or always or never or ...... maybe some of you have a trick for 100% seal ?

Thanks happy owners !

It may be that you're not getting anymore extraction with the evo from herbie's abv because they're both convection vapes, unlike the sublimator which is also conduction and radiation.
I also use herbie at 445f or at least finish there.
Assuming that your evo isn't as prone to charring charring as the infinity can be, if so have you tried running herbie's abv through it? The infinity's also convection-only but it may be worth a shot.

The issue is that the bag will sit ever so slightly off, when left to its own devices. If I put a bag on and walk away, it will tilt (in the direction of the weight of the bag) and not fill completely (maybe 90%?) before the fan assist timer will shut off.

The "trick" (right now anyways) to get a full seal is just to put a finger on the lip and hold it down. The bag will fill before the timer runs out that way.

For me, it's a minor inconvenience, and most of the time I just leave it be, as I know I'm getting more bags off of the bowl than I'd need, so I'm not too concerned if a little escapes. Especially if I want to go into another room for something or other while it is filling. If I'm sitting there and not getting up, I'd use the finger weight.

I believe someone said in this thread the tolerances on the green mouthpiece were being worked on to get it back to 100% with no user intervention. (Something about expanding/contracting materials or the like.)

All-in-all, the bags are surprisingly fun and effective to use. Well... so is *all* of Herbie. I wouldn't deprive myself of any days of usage over a minor point like that. The bags are readily replaceable, and when they get too gunked up new ones are easy to get.

[EDIT: I just read back a few pages to confirm what others' experience with the balloons have been. I will note someone mentioned a balloon popping off, which is not something I have seen, but probably pretty disappointing if you walked back into a room to find that the case. :( I still haven't tried filling the balloon from the whip, which others report as a much better seal.]

[EDIT EDIT:

This is really the only complaint i would have about the product. It does vary from bag valve to bag valve on how much it leaks. Only really find it annoying when people are over. Other then that i love the unit. If they come out with a better conformed bowl and bag I would purchase it. Just to put it this way, I would definitely buy the unit again. No buyers remorse at all. I find I use alot less product with it and you can use very small pinches and get 2-4 bags out of a pinch increasing the temp 20 degrees at a time.

I find myself using bags more then the whip. That will probably change once I buy a glass setup though.

What great customer service. I have issues. Wrote Josh. He sent back note saying he was out of touch but gave Sale. Engineering and Accounting numbers. I called sales. Sheila responded with a return label and a promise that if it is broke they will fix it and if not they will refund. I am flabberghasted! I pray it was defective but if not these fine citizens stand behind their product. That should be the push you may need to order. I think I had too high of expectations (that is indeed my style, a true believer if ever there was one.) But maybe, just maybe, I got a defective unit. Do you get more than 8 hits out of a bowl or is that the wrong way to measure? I DID get thoroughly medicated but for me more is more hits not more medicated because medication is an opinion while the other is simply a numbers game.

I think herbie is capable of full extraction, but perhaps more in sips than in rips.
I have been experimenting with the 15mm conical gauze/top screen method at 445f with the fan on and have yet to kill it with a single rip even though I know my lungs are more than capable of taking that amount in. Up next is to try to work on my one-hit/rip timing with that screen a bit more,
(with better cured flowers) then I can't wait to try the bags later tonight.
Also I agree that their customer service is top-notch

Okay, I have had the Herbie for over a week. I did not want to make a hastily impression so I sat home and did plenty of "testing." Sure, I may have lost a brain cell or three but it was all for science:science:! This is my unbiased review of the device.

First and foremost, as I indicated earlier in this thread, the customer service was above and beyond my expectations. Being able to text the director of sales with any problems is unheard of. Sending me a free shirt and extra booklets to spread the word is not necessary but the Herbie gang did it anyway without me requesting it! Unfortunately, they are not able to offer expedited shipping so from the Bay area to NJ took five business days. It was shipped two business days after the purchase date, which is solid in my opinion. After being teased by FC each and every day about how great Herbie was she arrived!

I crack open the box and I'm expecting this classy box/storage box that I've heard so much about. The packaging will notdisappoint you AT ALL; everything is well thought out. Also, the box is so intuitive that you can always put everything back in the box just like the day you received it. Big plus for me because I am horrible at puzzles. Only one concentrate pad came with the package but it's not a big deal to me as I do not have access to any concentrates. However as I told you all, I planned to meticulously test this device in every aspect. On to the fun part:

I plug her in (Cord is plenty long) and turn on Herbie. In my opinion she is very quiet but the optional fan does add a little noise. Laptop comparison is perfect. I turn it to MAX just to see how fast it warms up. UNDER TEN SECONDS! Even though I've read about the heat up time several times, trust me it's still impressive. Any real vaporist will immediately appreciate this aspect of the device immensely. Cool down is about 30 seconds or so and you almost become spoiled and inpatient since the heat up time is so damn fast. I filled the bowl to about half with a medium grind of grand daddy purp. I also tried fortune cookie with the same amount to really understand how well this device preserves flavor.

Scale 1-10 (1 Being worst, 10 being highest)

Taste: The flavor itself was disappointing. It may not be a fair comparison but the benchmark in this department is the Cloud. I am sure if I had some glass adapters the flavor would greatly improve but the device stock does not give you a really pungent flavor. I can taste the difference between the two strains but it was not pronounced at all. No matter what temperature, the best way I can describe the flavor is SMOOTH! The vapor is NEVER harsh. 7

Efficiency: One load may last me 4 - 15~ hits filled halfway with a medium grind and shaking and stirring the bowl routinely. If you use the fan assist on 445, then expect your load to go fast with sizeable hits. BUT let's say you want to take your time and take your first three hits at 300, two hits at 330, five at 390 then three at 445; Herbie truly excels in this department. Whether you are a herb hog or a little stingy when it comes to how much you use, Herbie will please you. 10

Cloud production: As most members have indicated in this thread, Herbie has really taught me more about vaporization in general. Most devices run much hotter than what we think. Herbie doesn't really excel in this department until you crank it above 420. Fan assist or not, she delivers. I had a few friends complaining that it' not a big hitter, UNTIL I turned the temperature up. After doing so, all eyes were lowered and smiles were prevalent. Is the cloud production as much as the cloud? No. I would compare it to the SSV but there is NOTHING wrong with that. 8.5

Versatility: Not much to be said here. You can use this device however you see fit. I've finally tried a bag and truthfully I don't like it. Flavor is reduced and why do I need to hold onto this bag if I have a nice small whip rather than this excessive bag. Perfect for the party scene though as my friends loved it! A few adapters and bam she is water compatible. 10

Aromatherapy: Meh. I made sure I had the right essential oils that are tested to be pretty damn pure. I let her run over an hour with a few drips of lemon and peppermint in my room. The smell was subtle and truthfully, I get more of an essence from opening up the bottles of my oils. If you think this device will replace your essential oil diffuser, think again. 4

The HIGH: There are several reports of FC members getting higher their first week or so with Herbie. I have to report differently; the high is smooth no matter what temp setting it's on. Sure, intense is an intense smooth high. 300 is perfect for going out! No effects on the eyes and just a nice subtle buzz. 445 will stone you but does it get me higher than the Cloud or the SSV? No. The best I can compare it is the Cloud is like taking a rocket ship. Quick, abrupt, fun. Herbie is like a first class airplane. Buttery smooth and still fun but classy. Even so, it does not get me as high as the Cloud comparing them with same amount of herb and same material. 9

In conclusion, this is a fantastic device. It truly is solid in every aspect from craftsmanship to the random sayings it gives you when you open up the Clam. Would I recommend it a medical patient before any other device? HELL YEAH! It can pinpoint anything you need which is revolutionary. Is it for me? No, because for $725 I expect the high to be a PUNCH in the mouth equivalent to Mike Tyson. The best way to describe Herbie is smooth. The bags will never be used by me and the whip experience is not enough for me to think it is worth the cost. If you are a SSV expert, you can emulate what Herbie has to offer in this department.

I've been trying to sell my other "desktop vapes" to my friends. I made the mistake of letting them try my Herbalizer. Now I can't sell my used equipment to them because everybody wants a Herbalizer.
@Darb , most of my friends were previous bong and heavy smokers and still are. If I may ask, what are the consumption habits of your friends and what are your other desktop vapes.

It's funny, the general consensus of my friends were they prefer the cloud. BUT my one friend that is a medical patient prefers the herbalizer, HANDS DOWN! He says it's much easier on the lungs and really doesn't irritate him. Every other friend, who medicate recreationally, prefer the cloud due to the lung busting, omg I think I'm dizzy effect.

I filled the bowl pretty near capacity for the balloon,
left my gasket attached so had to hold the valve down anyways.

The difference in extraction between the one-hit experiment,
and the full-bowl balloon. Both were @445f, fan-assisted.
8sFdv2Q.jpg

I don't think I could have leaned much harder on the one-hitter. It's very evenly extracted but the clouds were not as dense. Like with the first bowl I tried, I started my real draw after I was getting vapor, then had to finish in a separate draw until vapor had ceased.

With the balloon, I could have perhaps stopped and stirred to make it more even, but hard to say if that would have helped. I think herbie extracts a bit better with a full bowl as designed.
xx5kFuk.jpg

:D
So far I'm very pleased with the balloons, more research is necessary for the one-hitters, and I haven't tried the hydratubes yet just the recycler. I will conduct another one-hit experiment soon by just covering the bottom of the bowl with herb and pushing a screen down on top. Herbie has lots of options for sure!

Sadly, this type of customer service has become a rarity, and not just in this industry but in most of the consumer industry in our country. Other companies would rather give you the run-around and figure out ways to get more money out of you, when all you want is what you paid for or your money back. Initial price and total cost of ownership are 2 different things, and hopefully Herbalizer understands this. Everyone knows that no product is perfect, and it should be expected that there will be faulty units. While I know that cost will end up on the consumer, if the company does enough R&D that cost should already be priced into the unit, and not passed onto the unsuspecting customer. Herbalizer is an expensive product, but as long as they deliver on their promise and give levels of customer service that are expected when buying a premium product, I think they have great future. Reputation is still king when it comes to selling a product.

Edit: I thought I asked this in a previous post, but I might have been enjoying one of natures many fruits during the moment I thought I posted this question. So, does anyone know what kind of attachment I would need to mate a hydratube up to the magnetic bowl of the Herbie? It seems to me that this would be a great way to add a water tool to the Herbie and eliminate the whip or any other flavor altering items in the vapor path.

Still not so sure about one-hitters, but a full bowl with a direct hydratube and the fan on really rocks:science:

Using herbie this way, I found a way to take the avb to another level of darkness, and really stretch those pm sessions. The taste does suffer a bit, but there's no charring at all. I noticed that when I lifted up the hydratube with the fan still on after a session @445f with my filter/adapter still attached there was no visible vapor coming out. But I leaned over and gave it a quick puff, which seemed to kind of prime the pump and vapor started to stream out.

I gave the bowl a quick stir and noticed that there were definitely no green specks left in the avb, it had all changed color. I stuck the hydratube back on and with the fan on and sucking in not hard but not passively I got another six or so hits, I think I could have kept going but it was morning now so I stopped here. But I think I can get it more uniformly darker than this with a few more pulls.
vox6ZWt.jpg

So now I'm approaching evo-like avb, without any charring or warm-up time not bad. Just to throw it out there, I don't think this level of extraction is possible using herbie with the hose or with balloons as designed. Direct, active inhalation combined with the fan running, maybe when also combined with some extra resistance like my top screen and filter; the resulting extra vortex is perhaps generating some kind of thermal fliudization. It doesn't happen in standard aromatherapy mode either!

Dark ABV like this is achievable with the whip. It takes a lot of hits, but it gets there. I've had a number of long sessions, sipping at 445F for a good 30-45 min, that resulted in dark EVO-like ABV. It just takes time.

I one/two hit every session so I know it is possible ;) I usually end up with ABV about as dark as what you photographed grokit in post #2869. The top layer on the outside ring is usually a little lighter, but in general it turns out that dark.

I do have a huge lung capacity and can inhale for around 30+ seconds for each hit. That does help me get larger hits and makes it so I can one hit more devices then others though.

There is a point in my hit when you feel the sting on your lungs from the vapor. I feel like most people stop there... while to me that means your about half way thought he hit. You jut keep breathing through the urge to cough.

I need to get a video made with a step by step on how I cash the bowl quickly.

I do one or two hit sessions a few times a day as well... great lung capacity as well.
My top outside was bit lighter too. I happened to remove and clean the screen and notice it had gotten messier up close than it appeared installed. I cleaned everything well, and was delighted when my 1-2 hit sessions had more consistent abv (less ring of lighter color)
