Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

Schmobs

Recycled Hippy
Hi fellow FC members,

I really wanted my first FC post to be here in the EVO thread and here’s why:

You don’t know me but I know most of you as being a FC lurker for some times and coming from the “other side” (IGG) where some of you are actively involved. You guys has opened my eyes to so many related products, saving me tons of money and aggravations and that’s priceless! It was time for me to give back and contribute as much as my time allow.

I've been vaping on different devices for many years. Long ago, while browsing FC, I stumbled on the original Cloud thread and that was the start of a love affair with the VXH Team and the outstanding device that was then being created.

This very FC original Cloud thread tell the story of a great startup from brain to prod. and how an idea can be moulded to reality in large part by it's users input, and most of all by the integrity and vision of it's CEO Seibo Shen. A win-win venture that push innovation to excellence making VXH an industry leader that it is today.

I bought then a second generation Cloud which unfortunately was plagued with problems from an “industrial terrorist” a not so good supplier outside VXH. Even that I was so impressed by the device's performance and ease to use that I soon got into the Cloud+ replacement program, which I still have and work flawlessly. Finally I gave my body to science by enrolling myself to the VXH Fanatic Perk… the rest is history.

Thank-you FC… I owe you some!
———————————————
My impression of the Cloud EVO:

I’m usually sceptical of any hypes especially this, after owning a Cloud+ for about a year and a half, a device that I like very much which brought me so much satisfaction… The Cloud+ was so good to me that I have since sold all my others high end desktop vaporizers. My questions on the former upcoming EVO then was; how any vapes could be better than the Cloud+? Could it be innovated beside cosmetic and durability? What can I say that hasn’t been said from all the hype surrounding this upcoming product?

So lets cut thru the cloud:

The Cloud EVO came in 2 separate boxes and labelled as “Partial Shipment”. The HT/LE was wrap in bubble sheet, buried in styro-peanuts. it’s OK for normal shipping but with FedEx reputation, it could be hit or miss, luckily mine was just fine. The EVO itself was perfectly packaged in it’s own nice classy box which itself stuffed in card box.

Design wise the EVO is a beauty in it’s simplicity, it remind me the purity and quality of Apple product line. My graphite EVO-LE overall finish is nice and feel light and sturdy. The EVO got style and has it’s place among my art collection. The HT/LE bent neck is on par with the EVO, truly handcrafted by artist and it show, It is simply beautiful. Personally, I’m more on the dry side user but having this beauty among my glass collection is a sight to behold. It sit there on a podium in my living room so my guess and I can look at it among other things and endlessly admire it’s beauty. As a dry user mostly, sometimes I like to hit the HT-LE, on weekend or on special occasion, when I have time to do so and every time it’s an awesome experience!

On first bowl, this device just blow my mind! And it doesn’t take long to show it’s power, massive cloud with flavour, flavour and more flavour… as you can tell, I’m also flavour chaser and with the EVO I found heaven. I could’n believe that I was medicated after a so small load (about a 1/4 of an ELB). Usually on my former vaps, 3 or 4 bowls after work is what I needed to keep me where I wanted to be. But the EVO keep me there for the whole evening on 1 or 2 bowls at 12-2:30. I like-it hot, so with the Cloud+ I used to finish the bowl on max temp which give out brown ABV. The EVO on the other hand give me more control, ABV’s is toasty dark if I want. I wouldn’t go any further than 2:30 with flowers may be pushing the knob to 3 o’clock max. depending of the material used.

The upper part of the device is indeed hot, very hot, even hotter than my Cloud+ at top speed. I wonder if it would be any help to have some nicely design air vents in the upper sides part of the device and of course without affecting its aesthetic, or someone might just design an aftermarket clip-on piece with heat diffuser of sort. Personally, I don’t mind the upper heat since I’m accustomed holding the + comfortably by the base… It is a fancy Pro-heater after all! And as a pro tool it has to be handled properly. As for durability, only time will tell, sturdy components, quality craftsmanship it future look fantastic tho!

I could go on and on, this device is par to the hype and some, nothing much to add to that’s already been said… all true stories. The good news is that there’s no need for me to own any other desktop vaporizer unless to get an other EVO as a backup. The EVO has the ticket I need from a device to bring me quickly where I want to be and keep me there, how could a vapourist fanatic ask for more?

Finally, Seibo, you’re a genius, a visionary in that with Phil, Bryan, Tex, Ben and all others from the VXH team AND FC members who brought to life a device as close to perfection as it can be today. I’m for one grateful to be part of the elite who had the chance to own and experiment this amazing product. I’m ready to be flabbergasted with anything down the pipe from VXH and buckle up everyone, as we are currently testing concentrate attachments that will change the way you dab and open wide the EVO horizon… what an amazing time we live in!

Enough for now and I wish myself a warm welcome to this forum! ; )

Respectfully,
S.

I think the big eye catcher is obviously the enormous clouds, powerful extraction, all glass= tasty.

Truthfully I'm a cheap mofo, I need an efficient vape at this point in my life.

Can you guys fill me in: ridiculously itty bitty packs, can you still get a respectable rip?

Obviously I'm going to take monster drags at times, but other times (most times) I need my vape to be competent at handling tiny loads, yet still leave you feeling like you got a robust hit. There's nothing worse than a weak hit where you kind of feel cheated because it was so airy.

So basically, can the EVO handle tiny packs, as in like one-half of an M&M candy. I know I'm a cheap sob, but I'm in art school, already went to college and got a degree once, debt is a sonofabitch, so is living in a state that still hasn't 'got with the times'.
More than words, pics :)
I took half of a 1/4 teaspoon of Agent Orange. Tasty and strong as it is.
93h7.jpg

Scale is very precise.
So, it would be 0,09g ...
j8i9.jpg

Then I start at 12 dial... Exhale a small cloud, and still need to clean my Clear.
2u6r.jpg

2nd pull at 12 dial the same, exhale a small cloud, and then clean again...
va2z.jpg

3rd rip at 2:30 dial again the same, exhale small cloud and clean another last smaller cloud.
owxo.jpg

Here's the result ABV, note that I blew some weed while loading the ELB the first time. I probably would have an extra little cloud if I stir once. Not necessary IMO.
ydcm.jpg

End of experiment, positive.
I'd say that you can get 3 good flavorful clouds from 0.09g from my EVO plus Clear Matrix plus my Agent Orange batch.
Enjoy your new toy & stay vaped...
BTW, this AO is a smelly flavorful strong Sativa and is blowing my mind right now :p :science:

I'd say you need to clean it! Look at all those icky vaporboogers! :disgust:

:peace:
Queijos ou Stuugers :)

What does one do after a tough work week? Well, this one stuffs a ton of kief into an ELB and vapes vigorously.

Happy weekend!!
:freak:
And you my neighbor , should stop and say hello someday :)
I'll give you a ton of PHO Blue Dream crumble and Grape God shatter :) to vake you vigorously

BTW...
A couple months before I start noticing that smell some of us are getting from some EVOs. I thought it was a dirty bamboo. I clean it very well and I still smell that strange odor. Like vinegary hot electronics.
I'm keeping my EVO at 12 dial to start ELBs, and my Cloud+ at MAX dial to finish ELBs.
If I run my EVO at 2 plus dial, upright or inverted, I start getting the smell.
When I'm not vaping, I let the EVO run some cycles at MAX to help get rid of the smell, maybe??? Time will tell.

I really like my VHX vapes...
Stay vaped...

Another International Igg Evo is dead.

After another extreme overheat the bamboo has cooled and cracked and is no longer air tight. It over heated so much the ENTIRE bamboo glass was glowing orange hot, the area around the grommet at the top of the unit was smoking and melted. It left behind a sweaty residue. So much smoke poured off the machine I cant believe how hot that glass was!
The bamboo has cracked substantially but the glass is also seriously deformed and bulbous as well as frosty.

So upset, but It was inevitable with the way these things are glitching. The unit can turn itself on and overheat to a fire risk status!!!

My unit turned from green by itself and continued to overheat till I smelt the burning plastic and saw the smoke and orange fireball of death. Not only that but after I turned the unit off it has turned itself on and overheated orange again! (switch is off but power chord is still plugged in) So dangerous!

I cant believe there hasn't been a recall of these dangerously faulty units. If I wasn't around and it turned on and continued to heat up unnoticed it may have started a fire. Not to mention how much burnt plastic/rubber I inhaled from being near it. Seriously not acceptable.

Can't wait till my nano arrives, this evo business has been nothing but letdowns and stress.

Happy you prevented bad stuff :)
But sad to hear mate, and frightening too...

My guess is that either it just looked like it was on due to the glow (I had that until I unplugged and realised must be the glow) or that due to the massive overheating you described something melted and made contact by shortening the switch... :2c:
Please make sure you write to support, I hope they will ask you to send it in and diagnose the problem to be able to take meassures that prevent further issues of that kind for all of us!
With such a powerfull heater I expected something along the line of a mechanical overheat protection that won't rely on electrics (bimetalic switches?).
I am sure EU regulations offer a lot of input here

since the international evo still feels beta and it's a powerfull heater plus many household fires come from shorted electrical components I usually unplug the evo when not in use, same with other electric devices.
Also happens to better sorable for me that way :D

I stress to not leave it unattended and put it in my line of sight when operating as it often switched lights for me and my 2 orange glows happened when I didn't look at it.

It's just not really automated, comfortable and relaxing that way :2c:
the real relaxation can't kick in until it's turned off and for me the few minutes *heatup* wait can be a reason to use another device.

Personally I now remorse my Early Bird tube that I switched to an swagcycler in order to get an intl evo earlier that isn't really functioning *sigh* but only since it would have been my first worked piece :2c:
the not so special freebie Hydrafoot and sparce communication during delays didn't help that feeling of being the minor market, which I can acept as it's reality :2c:
but the decision to offer to that market was made :D

Performancewise the Evo is still on top of my other vapes for me!

For those with the concentrate attachment, are you able to use it inverted? Or does the concentrate attachment require a hydratube?

Really hoping you can use it inverted, as that's how I use my EVO 100% of the time.
Perhaps in zero gravity, but is it really inversion then?
The attachment does not allow for inversion. It's impossible. If you must invert your EVO, you're gonna have to use the two-cap method, etc...

That's too bad, but what I feared when I read your description of it. Only HT I own is the clear, standard, no-water mouthpiece. And seeing as how I just bought a Clear Matrix, a HT is out of the question for a bit.

Only tried the two cap method once, and it didn't go so well for me. It basically melted out and fell in my bubbler :( Need to try it again and experiment with some cotton when I get back home.

Appreciate the info though!

That IMO is a massive oversight...

As a vape which is supposed to be all about serving the glass connoisseur it seems stupid to me that the concentrate attachment wouldn't work with other glass...

I don't use oils too often, but I was excited to pick up a concentrate attachment to try it out when I do use oils...

Now hearing it's a HT only piece, I won't be buying...

I'm sure it's a technical reason that limiting its use with normal glass or something, but that doesn't really change my position that the attachment is now basically worthless (to me - I'm sure some of you guys will love it)

The "H" in HT stands for "Hydra"
The stock mouthpiece technically is not a HydraTube ;)

Notice vapexhale only sells hydratubes. The cloud was designed to be used right side up.

Does a ti nail work upside down? I think some expect to much...

Who's expecting too much? The EVO is used by MANY people in ways that don't involve a HT. VXL sells HT's because it's a unique product to their line of vaporizer. Why wouldn't they want to capitalize on a lucrative, beautiful, and functional accessory? Just because they don't sell standard bubblers/glass doesn't mean it can't/shouldn't be used with it. You're acting like people that don't use a HT are somehow misusing the EVO.

No one in this thread is trashing VXL about the concentrate attachment being HT only, merely expressing our disappointment that we won't be able to enjoy it.

I understand VXL does not have the power to control gravity around me, and I do not fault them for their lack of ability to do so! I was never promised a concentrate attachment when I bought the EVO, it was simply a nice bonus that I unfortunately won't be able to take full advantage of for a while.

I will still likely pick on up and experiment with it using my standard mouthpiece.

I concede the point to Mr McGuire ;)

The OG Clouds absolutely excel when inverted and used with traditional glass pieces. The EVO is clearly a step down from that if it cannot do the same.

For those with no HT that want to use the concentrate accessory, you can always get a Claisen or use your cloudbuddy upside down. Here is one on a cloud+ but you get the idea;)
Cheap, high-quality bubbler??

We had a few different attachments that we tried out that could be used right side up or inverted but due to the viscous nature of essential oils, it was very hard to create something that would be both effective AND wouldn't make a huge mess. Instead of creating something that would work sub-optimally in either position, we decided it would be better to make it work really well in one position. We believe we have succeeded and with the right technique, I believe we have found a new way for people to enjoy their essential oils with less effort and danger but with better taste.

@alltoreup - Thank you so much for that link. We have also already been playing around with different adapters so that you could use the attachment with other rigs. Look for our adapters to follow shortly. Quick question, do you think a universal adapter with 18, 14, and 10mm attachments would be more desirable, or separate adapters for 18, 14, and 10mm rigs?

Huh? The only thing the EVO can't do inverted is use the new concentrate attachment. That wasn't even an option when the ticker was out, how is that a slight against the EVO? The EVO still kicks ass and takes names in all other aspects, whether inverted or not.

@stonemonkey55, thanks for the insight. I'll make something work, or perhaps a used HT on the classifieds might make it's way to me.

@stonemonkey55 you are very welcome! I, of course, thank you for a wonderful product! I would rather have a dedicated size adapter, but could see the appeal of a universal one. Although I don't see how that would work unless it involves reducers? I would also like an option of all female joints on the adapters. Keep the accessories coming...I just got a referral store credit this week!

Did you even read the posts? It doesn't say anything about the EVO not being able to perform inverted, just that you can't use the concentrate attachment inverted. I have both units and my cloud hasn't been turned on since the day I got my EVO....it is not a step down I can assure you that.

I've got another 2 overheats.
Luckily, I've found out really soon in both cases so it didn't make it very far beyond MAX temp.
"Only" an orange glow from the heater (It should only gets sligthly red there on MAX).
On the first overheat the whole heater was bright orange and the glass was glowing as well all the way to the bottom of the GonG.
That was scary but not as scary as Teedub's overheat :o. Which got the glass so hot the entire bamboo was glowing and the unit was smoking.
I've never had it overheat to that degree, but I'm sure it is capable of this if left unattended.
But man, it goes so fast when it happens. It can cross the MAX temp and go into orange glow withing seconds.
In this case of runaway overheating a 250W monster of a heater that is in EVO is worse than the old weak one.
It's so fast and powerful.

Any news on this? My unit is still alive and usable but I want to have this resolved before it goes smoking hot and gets damaged.
I think a glitchy unit that is also damaged from overheat would be more expensive to repair.

Ummm, Notice the Hydrafoot 2.0?
The Cloud was designed to be used with glass [period].

I'm sure I've seen vids of StoneMonkey himself using it inverted with some of his beautiful glass collection...

You're telling me the creator of the vape was using it wrong when he made vids showing it off?

Does a ti nail work upside down? I think some expect to much...
WTF?
Surely I'm not the only person that assumed the concentrate attachment would work both right-side-up and inverted?
The vape is designed to be used with glass, is it really so crazy to have expected the attachment to work with all glass options, not just hydratubes?

No shit a nail wont work upside down, but nails were designed before hydratubes were even a thing (so there'd be no reason for someone designing a nail to even have that use in mind)
The cloud is commonly used inverted with non-hydratube glass, so it's not an unreasonable expectation that the concentrate attachment would also work both ways.
Stonemonkey just said that they tried to make it work both ways, but it just wasn't a viable idea.
That in and of itself shows my expectations weren't unwarranted, it was the aim of VXL when they first started designing the damn thing...

To play devils advocate, it is listed on their hydratube page in the shop...
Lets call it 1-1 ;)

It would depend on the adapter...

I really can't visualize how a universal adapter would work...

I'm guessing separate adapters will look sleeker, and be a bit cheaper if you only need 1 size, but more expensive if you need multiple sizes?
