Arizer Solo

Just speaking from my personal experience, plus I am never in much of a hurry anyway. Try it out for yourself if you get the chance.

Just throwing this out there but people pre heat their EVOs for 30 minutes.
the thermal mass of the Cloud is much bigger than that of the stems for the Solo. I think the important parts, namely the actual stem bowl, get up to temp in about 45-60 seconds? Don't try this, but I put a stem in once empty to let it get to temp while I prepped my goods. Went to remove the stem and being careless burned my finger on it. I don't know that I'd ever sacrifice a full session to heat soak a stem, and I too get to take my time more often than not. Sometimes I'll nurse the same stem load for a while, it's easier with the GonG since I can leave it attached, but I'll take a few hits at 7 and cool the stem down, then come back and do a few more an hour or so later, etc. This is with a power adapter as I don't want to be hard on the battery but I can definitely get good results without using a 12 minute heat soak

Plus the Cloud uses the "stem" as the point where the air is heated, compared to the Solo's heatsink. The Cloud bamboo has the heating units around it and thermal mass takes longer to achieve.

Anyways, you're right about whitewalling. I was just doing that, ~.08 finely ground at 7. If heat soaking works for you, don't stop doing it. I don't really believe in "one size fits all" especially on something as subjective as vaporizing. I heat my stems with the flower already inside so I can get the hits quickly, though I guess I sacrifice taste hitting it over and over and cooling it at 6-7.

Myself, I sometimes heat soak the gong for 2 min then pack a bowl, then let it heat soak for like 30 seconds. We all have our different methods/routines. The EVO is a different kind of beast,

Ooh that WONG seems ready to stand, upside or down, as a new gold standard!

WHERE are you guys getting that stainless steel tube to build a WONG around?

@OF, I have a feeling we don't have exactly the same sense of humor. As far as the screws go, I'd guess you can tear as well as squeeze the plastic to the breaking point. I didn't mean loose loose, just taking a hair of the stress off. We'll see. If she develops cracks, I'll fix 'em. But that depends on which type Solo I have.

@GenYHippie I may be wrong but I think that second one is a perc add-on for a bong, not a complete pipe. I suppose you could rig it to use it standalone.

Ahhhh yes see this is why i need you guys!

Its a ash collector yes its is a add on to a bong or you can use it with a j hook

Have you not looked at @ataxian pics?

Ok thank you. And which ones? I saw the ones about the first model are there more on the user page i didnt see?

While I didn't measure it while I was poking at other stuff, I think that's about right (to say within 30 degrees from a cold start?). Such measures are dicey since it can take a very long time to close those last few degrees......which is why Ascent masks that part by 'jumping to the set temperature' for display when it's close. Way faster than 12 minutes for sure, but you know what they say, 'over kill is better than no kill at all...'

While I don't personally own one, I believe guys are buying stems with the SS tube from Ed. Same Ed that makes the exotic stems for MFLB. You can get suitable SS tube (a couple of types actually) from McMaster Carr.

Yes, you can break the plastic in either tension or compression. Or shear for that matter. The point I was making is, just like concrete, such plastics are much stronger in compression than tension. Like a stack of bricks in a way, you can stand on it fine, but if someone kicks a single brick loose you're now dealing with gravity. Or the party trick of standing on an empty beer can (compression again) and tapping the side and having it fold up under you. By moving the load out from the center of the hole with the washers you put the much more substantial section 'behind' the screw in compression, rather than flexing the thinnest part of the tab in tension.

Good luck with your tension experiments, I found that to be a disadvantage compared to the routine I suggest. I noticed a 'click' as I set the unit I was playing with down one evening to find I had two bad tabs, one broken out, one cracked. It wasn't 'floating' much at all, but I figured since I never broke more than one at a time before (or since) that snug was very important. Could well be wrong, but that's what worked for me, so I pass it on for consideration by those interested.

I think your attitude about 'if it breaks, I'll deal with it' is Sterling.......wish that sort of thing happened more often......

Thanks.

Ok i @ataxian linked this one -http://www.dhgate.com/product/d020-bubbler-hand-blown-glass-vase-perc-water/175832535.html#ctabBox for me but out of curiosity whats different about this one - http://www.dhgate.com/product/hand-blown-glass-vase-water-perc-percolator/160900314.html#ctabBox?

Would it still work with solo? I have no idea about function and easy of use or cleaning but as far as "im less likely to break it" it seems like the better choice as its wider and harder to knock over.

I have a simpler piece as the one in the link you posted!
You need a JHOOK (SHERLOCK) & a HECK CLIP.

This works too!

Ok i Just bought an Arizer Solo at Massdrop for $124.95

There is still 5 days left so if you have been waiting for a good price this is it. these will be the newest model M1E1 and they are bought straight from Arizer.

Go Here https://www.massdrop.com/r/BELWD3 and sign up for an account and then search for Airzer Solo.

I Plan to buy a 18mm Wong from Ed's TnT after i saw you guys raving about them. Will this work with this bong? http://www.grasscity.com/us_en/grace-glass-spiral-perc-beaker-base-glass-ice-tube-blue-1.html
http://www.dhgate.com/product/d020-...vase-perc-water/175832535.html#cps-1-5|null:6

I know this will fit.
It's super cheap however functional!

Wolf,

The main thing I would be concerned about with that bubbler is that your Solo would essentially hang off to one side and would be supported solely by the glass stem. I would think you'd almost be "asking" for some glass breakage.

IMO, the ideal water tool would place the Solo directly on top and centered over the glass so as not to put any strain on fragile glass tubes.

The bubbler posted above by @ataxian seems to be a crowd favorite.

Thanks I saw that one in the Posts too and really like it but wanted something with a little more style. I might get this as backup though since it is such a good price.

Ataxian would say glass

I say get a Wong or any wood stem as they have 14mm ends from ed
And pick up a gong when they come in stock but be fast as they sell out quick

Dr. Soxhlet

SOLO Vaporized Cannabis is my Best Medicine
Would you recommend the Gong over Eds Wong?

and can you link the ash Catcher and the Casein adapter i am not sure what they are.

I think the taste through glass is better! But Ed's Stems do have their place.
They are unrivaled for durablity!!!
I own Ed's Blackwood stem when I want to just throw the Solo in my pocket for walks in the woods or gardening.
I use glass at home.

ED's WONG I haven't tried however I would love to.

Get a PHVES GonG to start with until ED starts selling them. I use a 14mm PHVES with a 18mm x 14mm reducer.
I need to order a 18mm PHVES GonG to reduce the amount of fittings I use however I get by!
http://www.planetvape.ca/pvhegong-high-efficiency-gong.html

I have a bunch of GonG's (Stock and PHVES) I have the older SOLO's so I have a 113 seal on all of them. With the current model I hear that it's best to take a 113 seal and sanded it thinner for the best results.

The CAISEN I bought on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KIMAX-44990...024?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20e23a3d20
$8.99 including shipping not bad!

The ASH COLLECTER was from ghgate:
http://www.dhgate.com/product/1pcs-...er-glass-glass/179565202.html#cppd-6-5|null:1

The vaporizer is only a heater.
The accessories is what make it interesting!

Not to forget 'the Infamous Bubbler':

Solid little bubbler, good price, 18mm GonG centered. The little adapter that comes with it will couple to hose so you can use your MFLB, vape pen or most anything else that suits your fancy.

ABV falling through the holes perhaps? I like using medium grinds for when it's upright, water = finer if I care and it won't fall up through the holes!

Do you have different grinders that give you different ranges of grinds? I just have a cheap small metal one, grinds pretty fine. I am sure some abv got through those holes. Anyone have experience opening up and cleaning in there? I worry about damaging something but at the advice of someone else I'd give it a try.

When mine gets a scent to it i dont like (usuall the last strain i vaped leaving a taste in the current one that doesnt mix) i clean it with high proof alcohol an a q tip till the qtips comes out without residue then with the stem out run it on 7 till it auto shuts off. That usually does it for me.

I did this as well with the q tip+alcohol in the chamber just like their website said, ended up going through 2 qtips (4 swabs) until nothing else came out. But the smell continues so some abv must have slipped through those holes.

ataxian if you wouldn't mind telling my what the ash collector and Caisen are for?? well i figure the ash collector is to collect ash but not sure what the Caisen does and a google search brings up stuff about phosphoproteins. I have only been smoking for about a year now and most of that i have been using the Vaporblunt 2.0 DLX with the bong attachment.
