The Lotus Vaporizer

VaporsVaporizer

On the Stoop
How small is the mouthpiece end of the j-hook that Lotus sells? Is it smaller than the mouthpiece end of a solo stem?
Yes, it's tapered at the end

Got it today, that was super fast!

Love it!

It is weird using a torch on a vaporizer coming from a magic flight and digital volcano before that.

I'm so very impressed that I'm thinking of selling my lunch box + pa to get my girlfriend a Lotus now.

This thing is amazing!
the lotus is a simple and efficient beast. brings me back to combusting days with just a lighter and a pipe. you cant go wrong imo

Big shout out to Max and the guys over at Mendocino Therapeutics for refunding me 15% of my purchase! I'd happened to put in an order a couple of days before the discount started (not surprising with my luck).
Now I'm just playing the waiting game.

Thanks again guys!

It seems you have been selling your luck short.

Good on you for asking. People do like an opportunity to be generous if you approach them that way.

Hope you enjoy your Lotus. It certainly gets consistently glowing reviews on this thread, from start to this page.

I'm hoping to order one next week while the sale is still on.

dont worry with a little practice on the og stem you wont need a window. I was lucky enough to start of with that package so i didnt get a jhook till a little while later. with the aluminum stem its just all feel, but really if you use the exact same technique and timing it shouldnt give you any troubles. i think if anything it may just hit a little faster

Just don't get a low profile reducer. I have one that provides a little more clearance and it works perfectly with the DO20. (That's the cheap bubbler, right?)

Hence why I purchased an angled Male to Female adapter. However OGB messed up my special request - I asked for a 15 degree 18mm male to 14mm female adapter - he sent me a 15degree 18mm male to 18mm female adapter.

Although, I did use a low profile reducer from OGB and it worked much better than the one I found on ebay - the GONG joint is nice and tight enough to stay put most of the time when I pull up on the WPA handle.

Just go direct, and get a 10-year warranty:
http://www.ploom.com/pax

The pax is the very definition of stealth but it burns through herb quite inefficiently,
and the conduction taste really suffers compared to convection vapes like the lotus and ff.

Hey! Don't blame taste on the heating method (Conduction). Conduction is simply a different method of heating!! My DV Ascent uses conduction heating and the taste is superb. I get quite a few draws in pure flavor country (330F to 345F). While the Lotus can get some impressive flavor if you really work on flame control, I simply cannot achieve the same level of flavor I can with the Ascent.

Don't get me wrong, the Flavor of the Lotus is awesome, and I enjoy extending my Lotus session by applying less heat with the torch, but I still can't achieve that same low temp taste of my Ascent.

Yesterday I was enjoying a VERY long session with my Lotus when I did the unthinkable! I emptied the WPA, refilled with fresh herb, grabbed my torch, and torched the herb WITHOUT THE CAP! :puke:
Lol, I'm such an idiot - old habits die hard. Thankfully I hadn't started inhaling before I noticed.

I swear, everyone loves the lotus, except my best friend - the poor guy can't get the Lotus to start vaping because he's too impatient. Even when I handle the torch, he's inhaling like a freight train! Can't get the Lotus up to temperature fast enough! I doubt I'll ever convert him to vaping.

Hey rekrab,

Do you find any difference in flavor between the aluminum stem and a j-hook?

I had a friend bring his new lotus over for a lesson in how to use it. I was worried because he is new to vaping and got the steel stem. I started him off with my jhook so he could see what was happening. He did well, and as soon as he used the steel stem he nailed it. Then I grabbed it and had the best hit yet. That stem works great and I may be one of those guys who does better by feel instead of focusing on the visual so intently.

I have a friend like that also. This is what I did....

1. Get the lotus warmed up by treating yourself to the first load. :brow:
2. Reload.
3. Turn up the torch  (What I have found the best so far is to have the flame high enough that when you touch the very tip of the flame to the raised center, the blue flame creates a dome around the raised center completely.)
4. Preheat for 2-3 seconds.
5. Let him rip as hard as he wants and laugh together at the lung buster he just got. 2nd and 3rd hit will be even bigger. :science:

This completely converted him! He ordered a Lotus that night!

Of course your lighter and herb play a big role also, but one consistency I have found is that the lotus rips hardest after a little warming up!

Warning: You might want to practice a little before trying this with your friend because if you are not pulling hard enough you can easily torch your herb. So practice, practice, practice....

But don't have anything planned for that day! When I was "practicing" I forgot where I was for a little while.... and I hadn't gone anywhere. :whoa:

as for differnece in flavor id say the jhook and alumnium stem are pretty equal since i have the short stem and it may be a little harsher but really i havent noticed a huge difference. obviously glass is usually better but im not super picky about the taste as long as im tasting my sweet flowers without combustion and bad shit in the airpath

Lol, haven't done that one yet, but I have forget to insert a screen on a few seperate vapes. Lol, that's when you know your medicated!

Can someone who has tried the Gnome and the Lotus compare the flavor of the two? I broke my original gnome and have been looking for a new flame based vape to replace it with. Had been looking for a used Gnome when I started reading this thread. Seems everyone really likes this one.

Any help would be really appreciated.

So my honest torch died on me last night.. or at least I think so. The flame is now fat like a normal lighter. It no longer jets into a point. Anybody know a fix for this?

I got a replacement vector because I'm too impatient to wait for shipping. It's works great. The vector was $27 bucks, but it has a lifetime warranty so that kinda makes me feel better about paying that much for a lighter.

Well, the gn0me has that unmatched purity that comes from all glass but the Lotus has great taste, especially if you use with a glass piece instead of the alu stem although the difference is marginal.

I have my gn0mes in the drawer and the Lotus will come out shortly for my after dinner late session.

You can also get a Vapocane to get a similar experience to the gn0me, and perhaps easier to find, even used.

Nice advice man. The proof is in the pudding hey?

From reading through this thread it seems that the Lotus is less affected by residual heat in the bowl than other convection portables like Firefly, Thermovape T1, Evo and Cera but of course there will be some effect. The evenness of experience with this vape with a good lighter is a strong selling point. I've had the T1, Evo and Cera. Having a big difference between performance with battery state and device heat can be a bit of a pain that takes away the joy of a manual vape.

Did you have any luck convincing the makers of that cheap Chinese bubbler you recommended to me to make one with less percs and a lower water volume?

Thanks for your recommendation by the way. Hopefully I can order one next week. It seems like it will be the best cheap option for me. I think I'll be able to keep my head more upright than with the D020.

The D020 works good with many vaporizers. For the LOTUS I use a CAISEN attachement.

I have a Large water piece the LOTUS will fill. Many may or may not disagree however I use the TORO Knock Off (TKO) the most with the LOTUS.

I use a 14mm x 14mm Female Coupler.

The Stainless Steel Stem I like.
If it was glass I'd break it!

My JHOOK with a ASH COLLECTOR works pretty well too.
I prefer a water path.

I like the look of the TKO, D020 and your ash catcher/j-hook combo too.

This is the one that @lovinlivinlife reckons is his daily driver with the lotus. It looks right up your alley.

I looked at it however I would break it the first session. I like bridge supports. The D020 has been good for my style of vaping.
We are all different.
What you prefer and fits your needs go for it. I love my choices however what works for me doesn't work for everybody!
