The HI

Thanks for the great info, GratefulVapor.

I was looking for a dabbing tool but didn't know where to start, using a swiss army knife, some razor blades and occasionally a paper clip currently.

I was just thinking that I needed such a device, and you provided me with a perfect name and description. Already snatched one up on ebay.

I like to use the bamboo skewer tool that I provide with each HI to stir. One of the skewers has been shaped into a flat blade that can be inserted along the edge of the bowl and then moved around the perimeter to displace the material into the center. I only pick at the screen directly when the bowl is empty. The design of the all glass roasting tubes requires that the screen be very flat around the perimeter so that it holds the small ledge. I have used two hammers before to flatten a bent screen. Use the face of one hammer to act as an anvil and hold the screen while you tap with the other hammer face. This can also be used to hammer 3/8" screens until they are 10mm to fit in the all glass roasting tubes.

Found that I can use a HI to levitate a hemisphere shaped ss screen in a empty glass roasting tube. I can place a small amount of concentrate into the ss screen and then roast it by slowly hovering it in hot air. My HILSV works much better since it has more heat available.

I've been thinking about a way to make a temperature controller for my HI but it would involve mounting a thermocouple to the heat tube or directly to the resistor in the tube. The hardest part would be finding a clean way to get this extra cable into the HI.

I'm planning on using an arduino micro controller to read the temp and vary the voltage output to the HI. This would be done by using a type K thermocouple (good to over 1000*C) along with a thermocouple amp to convert the temp readings to a signal the arduino can read. The arduino would drive an n-type mosfet via PWM on some type of servo control feedback loop that varies output voltage based on a set point temp read by the sensor.

I don't know much about EE or programming to do this (im a scientist), just an idea. I've done some initial research and the tools are out there, I just need to find some help coding it. Some of these arduinos have wifi, imagine if you could set the temp via a iphone app lol.

Edit: seems like this is well developed, there's a system called PID that would work well for this:

Well. The HI got me high all morning.

Seriously this is the best vape every for righting essays. Idk how to describe it, but I find the high gives me the 'fluffiest' vape when paired with glass compared to any other. The vape it produces is just so light, tasty, and easy on the throat.

Thanks, the MiniVVPS looks OK but still not classy enough for this vape. Here's an idea, make a miniVVPS in a nice wooden box with a nice vintage knob and LED display covered by smoky/colored glass... how about that?

I got placed on the HI list on Friday night! I will spend my months pondering which wood I want mine out of.

I've been using an MFLB for years and just ordered an SSV (it'll tide me over), so a HI will round out my very small collection pretty well, I think!

Hey can anyone link me to the post(s) that has the vape Alan made with a perforated aluminum case and (I believe) a ground glass heater cover? I don't remember what's it's called and this thread is too big to search through manually. I'd like to use it as inspiration for my vape project:

I've been kicking myself over not getting on the list for months, then today I get the email?! I completely forgot that Alan put me on the list a year ago - if he hadn't of responded inline, I wouldn't had known I had even emailed him in the first place. I really needed a pick-me-up today! There goes my EVO fund... no remorse... Glass core HI in my future, couldn't be more excited. Custom VK should be incoming this week too, what timing!

@vertigo I got on the list a few days after you. I kind of can't wait but I clearly have to.

Does anyone have any tips for dislodging a stuck WonG from a glass down stem? I think the wood got a little moist, expanded, and is now locked in the joint. A quick search of the thread didn't reveal anything. Thanks in advance!
