I only have done one half bowl so far, so I am sure there are more differences that what I've noticed so far (compared to my M107):

- Looser fitting stem (Using PVHEGonG. But maybe my tight fitting M107 wore the glass down?)
- Warm up time seems faster
- The "slight delay + beep noise" now takes half the time.

I have no idea about battery indicator, which I hear is suppose to be more accurate and encourage recharging.
Update to post above:

Turns out the stem fits fine, not wobbly at all unless you're offroading. The fit is not loose enough to eject stem. With the Planet Vape thin o-rings, the fit is amazing with no wobble and it helps prevent loose herb from escaping past teflon ring in heat chamber.

Battery indicator has definitely been optimized in the M1T0. It will no longer lie to you. On an M107, a person could do a couple bowls and still be on 7/7. This new model will tell you more accurately when you're at e.g. 4/7 or 5/7 before you accidentally discharge the battery too much.

There was lessened electronics smell with this unit. Less flux/PCB flavor :D

Loving the accessories, you can activate God mode cheat via following combo: Solo + PVHEGonG + f-Bomb or PNWT + ice water.

Bummer for sure. The stems are all different in fitting due to the nature of the way the glass is formed.
The fact of strait and bent has nothing to do with the fitting. With my last purchase of 3 strait stems, I have one really tight fit. Keeping that one in reserve as don't like the fit neither. The other two fit better and currently using the easiest fitting stem and plan to work my way up as they expire..:rip:
As yours is brand spanking new, your dealer might cut you some slack and give you a replacement..?
Either way, you got yourself an excellent tool there. Enjoy.

Thanks, I think maybe I cracked it because I was twisting the stem as I was trying to get it out. I think you're supposed to pull straight out without twisting but the included instructions say nothing about it, and are pretty shitty.
Maybe it happened as I was pushing it in, it's still a small crack so it may last for a while.... Anyway, I got the wooden one coming as I want something solid for off-road use.

Can also try heating to 7 that will make getting the stems in and out easier. Over time it will break in and you will probably want a hi-temp o-ring like must of us. I agree VERY shitty instructions

has anyone got any thin o rings in the uk ? I have some regular sized ones but want to try the thin ones but the postage would be more than the item LOL

Yeah you should always insert the stems and remove them when the unit is fully heated, and always pull it straight out.

I would've broken my stems two years ago myself...if it weren't for the smart folks here who told me to preheat the unit before removal or insertion. Devices should just come with a link to the appropriate FC thread instead of instructions. :D

Actually, they're quite easy to sand thinner. Stick them to a piece of heavy duty tape and use that as a handle to rub the other side of the ring on a sheet of sandpaper to make a flat. Then flip it over and put a flat on the other side. If you wet down the sandpaper you can stick it to a sheet of glass (even a mirror or window), counter top or other flat surface.

The problem I found with thinner rings was the ID got bigger so the stem didn't grip or the OD got smaller so the ring could shift and block the hole when the stem was out. Sanding flats fixed that.

Good luck with it.

'did they maybe recalibrate the LEDs like they did at least once before?'.

@OF, what it IS, dude! You da man. So tell me, is there an updated temp chart anywhere, for the LEDs that is.

This is becoming a veritable tower of Babel. Serial numbers! Model Numbers! I might travel to another time/place and find I have to use entirely different setting on my Solo! Like +1 LED IF (water in the toilet vortexes the other way) ?

All 3 work the same!
Made 2 1/2 years ago; 1 3/4 years ago; the last one before the latest model.

The serial number doesn't matter!

Just vaporize with it.
When It dies throw it away and get another one!

@ataxian, easy for YOU to say! You've got that chart on yore matt, the "tapis chauffant", that tells you how to compensate setting the temp LEDs depending on the square root of the last 4 digits of the serial number! The rest of us have to depend on the goodness of the more attentive among us, like OF.

And sheesh, what a cavalier approach to the electronics recycling problem! You live in Dubai? WE in Northern California just about have to carry our defunct electronics to the dump of shame, and bow our heads, or? or keep them, bury them in the back yard, never seen 'em before.

@OF is pretty smart!
In FRANCE or SOUTH AMERICA we call "OF" a man of Know how!

He's bailed me out more than once!

The SOLO is cheap and easy to figure out! I need simple! So I stay with simplicity!

Simple portable for a simple guy!

Nytron, and others. It's either the newer model Solo or the older version. Stop with the serial numbers. Either you can use while charging or not, that's how you can tell newer or older model.

I feel cranky today!

@OF is awesome. Constantly trying to help others. Helped me when I mistakenly submerged my solo in a water bottle (had two water bottles; one for drinking and the other as a stealthy case).

Needless to say my solo has survived that and also when a inexperienced individual laughed with their lips around the water pipe

There are a few other subtle differences in the newer models: Charge while using; larger air holes in the heater; freer draw effort; larger air holes on the bottom plate; stem fit; faster heat up time; faster charge time. These are things that I believe have been reported and pictured here on this thread.

Sorry for not being clear enough, I was talking about the 'battery meter' recalibration (the topic at the time I think). I haven't measured a early one (the ceramic bowl versions I think?) but understand that the current meter is 2 or so lights 'lower', that is it indicates discharged sooner (less sessions per charge) to deal with guys running theirs into the mud and clobbering the battery (IMO a good call).

The temperature is a whole other thing. First off, the steps published can't be right. They approximate the action of course, but when I put a thermocouple in the load (easy to do down the stem) it turns out the range of temperatures is wide (like 30F between the highest and lowest as it cycles at any given step (it gets averaged when transferred to the load of course) and more interesting (to me at least) is the steps are about 20F wide, not the 9 the maker lists. I ran this a couple times and at least one other Member has repeated it.

Solo is indeed an interesting device from an engineering POV I think. A mix of sound ideas and practices and some considerable prototyping I think?

However, I don't agree with the 'FC is tower of Bable for vapes' idea, in fact just the opposite? Recall, please, that after the flood and before the tower, all mankind spoke the same language and understood one another. Trust and understanding resulted. The world was our oyster, a fresh start. We 'had it made'. Then came the tower, we got a bit out of line some might argue and God gave us misunderstanding and confusion instead. IMO the tower was a bad break for man, definitely adds to the confusion and strife. FC is the anti-tower? It tries to 'get us all on the same page'.

Or not.

FC, OTOH, remains I think a first rate deal. Good folks openly sharing their knowledge and experiences, helping each other........as it should be I think.

Thanks for the kind words, glad to help out when I can.

I know I just was explaining the most obvious difference, that you could tell right off the bat. There are some real differences that I really appreciate, one is the easier draw. But using the PVHES stems tackled that problem for me with the older model. I was quite happy the way the Solo was. I just wanted to buy a backup Solo. The battery works really well. It doesn't take as long to charge up. It's all good.

The one thing that bothers me about the newer version that I have is the chipping of the bottom, where the screws are. It starts to crack, then a little piece chips off. Eventually I will be sending it back.

Yay my screens are here! Excited to try them tonight :)

Great! I don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but you might want to clean them first (depending on where they came from?). I dried the ISO I washed a batch of new ones once, it left an off color, oily film in the bottom of the shot glass......

Now I wash them well when I buy a batch and/or flame them before the first use. Easy enough to eliminate, why not?

Enjoy your new best friend, it's a solid machine for sure.

The difference between the 2014 and 2013 Solo is subtle but perceptible, similar to the difference between the iPhone 5 and 5s.

Glad you got there ahead of me.

There wasn't all that much of it, but I recall wishing I'd thought to do it earlier......

Yup, a 'mini Solo' would be cool. I had some hopes for Pinnacle in that vein actually, but I'm not sure it scales at all well. I really think the key to the success is the oven/stem set up. That sort of drives the power level, which drives the battery selection and there you go?

A while back I played with the idea of making the battery change with reloading. You'd carry spare modules with a fresh load to fit into the oven of the unit and connect up the (smaller) battery inside it. This would let you cut the battery back a lot (since it only has to do one load, not 6 or 8) but at the expense of more stuff to tote.

Life is a compromise. You might have less hair to comb now, but you've also got more forehead to wash.

Mine has chips on 3 out of four:

It is only a couple of months old and has never been dropped or abused. Just an annoying minor problem.
Can't justify sending it in until it actually stops working.
My last unit has one of the plastic tips on the charger connection come off inside the Solo making it necessary to sand the plactic tip on the end of each charge or PA connector in order to use it. But again, although it was annoying I did not send the Solo in until it actually stopped working finally after 11 months.

I still feel this would be a simple fix by simply adding a layer of tougher/thicker material over this layer.
Having owned a Solo before with the same problem, I should have figured out a way to do it before this happened. :bang:

But seriously, this is a great working vaporizer!! Don't sweat the minor defects. Enjoy your Solo!!
