Finally going to cabe and start watching this show. All my friends can't believe I haven't seen it. Least I don't have to wait to watch the next episode after a good cliff hanger! :)

I enjoy the show, I am not a die hard crazy fan but it is definitely entertaining to watch. I can't keep up with all the houses and names!!! My wife however IS a die hard fan so on Sunday I surprised her with some goodies including these:

I'm guilty too. I had to watch it a second time when Mrs. DieHard heard it from another room.
She's batshit GOT fan.

Not many shows on TV that can elicit this kind of reaction:

This was a bit much. The Red Wedding was fucked up, but let's not get out of hand. I guess to each their own. It's just crazy to me to become so emotional over a fictional fantasy tale.

Have you ever gotten so totally engrossed into a movie or a book, or even a painting, that reality just fades away and you get totally transported into the story or picture? I LOVE it when that happens.

I could see how it happens. While I can really get into something, I'm one of those annoying assholes that keeps one foot planted in reality and points out how certain happenings could never truly be.

Here's me watching a movie: "See how he just stabbed the guy in the top of the skull with that thin dagger? In reality the tip probably would have folded or broke and it would not have worked out so well. The iron they used in what would be this period of time was much softer and more malleable than modern steels. Basically, it would have been too soft to penetrate the top of the skull or the iron would have been treated to be hard, but so brittle it would break on a skull."

I've gotten better at keeping my mouth shut though.

I like GOT. But I also really like Butter's version of the theme song.

I totally admit I'm that guy. I'm aware and I try really hard not to do it, but it's so hard sometimes.

Watching anything that was adapted from a book is like my fucking Kryptonite.

That's kind of a bummer. It's sooooo much fun to totally suspend any sense of logic and get totally immersed into what your reading or seeing.

If I was like you, DS, I don't think I'd ever read a book or see a movie unless it was a documentary. ;)

Books and movies. Two of my favorite things.

You don't hang around many young girls I take it. I have young nieces around and they Cry at TV shows like Being Human and supernatural.

I'm more like Deadshort I guess, I watch movies and TV shows and can't help but notice inconsistencies and mistakes. The older I get the less I feel the need to point them out to others anymore at least.

Me too. The writing has to make sense, as in no shortcuts just to advance the storyline in a limited timeframe. I get especially pissed when they have an otherwise intelligent female character do something stupid that sets her up for being a victim. I'm speaking to you, dead tara from sons of anarchy!

YES!! This definitely happens with female roles all the time. In long running series, a woman that starts off as strong and independent is rarely kept that way. Yes, weaknesses and vulnerabilities will eventually come to light as a character is truly known by the audience, but I'm talking about writing that seems to completely abandon a character's personality up to that point for something absolutely foreign to the audience. I really like Kurt Sutter's writing, but I too was extremely puzzled by the difference in Tara's character from seasons 1-2 and then the following seasons.

Another good example is the youngest girl, Debbie, from Shameless. Her character completely transformed this season, but part of me feels she was written in this manner because of her entering her teen years.

Luckily, GoT stays pretty straightforward in the writing as far as chatacter's personalities goes. I am impressed with how powerful women's roles are and continue to be in the show. The character progression of Arya Stark is incredible! You can also see this hardened shell starting to form around the once ridiculously naive and virtuous Sansa Stark.

Game of Thrones is, to me, one of the best shows on television. It does illicit emotion from me, but nowhere near how some people react. I did grin with glee, rewind, and rewatch Arya's fantastic revenge on Polliver at the end of the season premiere as she reclaimed her Needle. So awesome.

Something wrong with your legs, boy?

I haven't read the books so I have no idea what's coming, but when I first saw Arya Stark getting sword fighting lessons and then she saw her father getting decapitated, I thought.........This girl is gonna be a force to be reckoned with.

Arya is, hands down, my favourite character. Maisie Williams is outstanding. When GRRM kills Arya, I will fly to wherever he is, cut off his hands and feet and nose and ears, poke out his eyes, and sew cockroaches in the empty sockets. I'm keeping my plans for his nether regions a secret, but I can say that they involve honey and fire ants.

I knew she'd get Needle back. You don't name a sword and have it disappear completely, not even GRRM.
