That matches my experience so exactly I'm scared my unit is going to overheat today :uhoh:
Just keep an eye on it is all I can suggest...

If you've got the green LED after heatup, then I don't think there's a risk of it overheating...

I think it's only when the Red LED issue occurs that there's potential for the overheat.
I'm kinda assuming that the overheating issue is just an extension of the red LED issue.

Red LED issue = temp sensor working fine (relaying correct info to the heater controller), but not relaying the info to the LED controller properly
Overheat issue = Temp sensor not relaying it's info to the heater controller, so heater just stays on waiting for the temp sensor to say it's hot enough.

I've got no background in engineering or anything like that, just kinda speculating on what I think is happening... (I did do an electronics course in high-school if that'll give me some street cred though )

Can any other intl evo owners who've had it overheat to the point of glowing orange comment on whether;
a-1) They had this "both LEDs on" issue at some point?
a-2) If so, was it relatively close to when you had the overheat issue)
b) Did the EVO have the red LED issue at the time of the overheat, or were you getting a green LED beforehand?

a-1) No, never had this issue.

b) Yes my unit also had a red light when it overheated

You can't find overheat temp anywhere on the dial, so if the LED was green on overheat it would be a LED output failure added to the heater failure.
What I mean it should show red on overheat even when the LED outputs were working correctly but the heater was shorted or told by the PCB to heat forever.

But I've already had a green light not responding to the dial, so maybe an overheat on a green light could possibly happen if these two happen together...

A1: I have had both led's on but I thought that was the auto shutoff pattern, is this one different again or am I just wrong? This happens fairly regularly with mine

a2: No, unit has always cooled down after the red+green led pattern. (Im pretty sure mine is a auto shutoff pattern, red and green are on but looks kind of orange too.)

b: Yes, my orange glow overheats were during the infamous stuck red light issue

EDIT:
Gahhh apparently this is the auto shutoff pattern. I don't get that I have both the green and red on at the same time as described by Seek. Yikes
My EVO just started doing this until I turned it off. What does it mean?

WOW!

I've just done exacttly what colinm_au did. And now my unit runs without a single glitch!
I'll report back if it glitches again, but I've already played with the dial so much, tried everything that made my unit glitch certainly before.
It seems to be working 100% correctly now, it only needed to get these huge metal connectors insulated.

EDIT:
No, it was just a big coincidence of my unit not glitching for about an hour just after that fix.
It's still glitching. :(

And not touching the PCB ...Our 2 units functioning really well usually set at 12

I have had one period when I mistakenly knocked the knob and couldn't find the green so I kept a close eye on the temp and eventually got the green after 5 minutes. A very long 5 minutes as I am really enjoying vaping again!

It's not yellow because it's 2 different LEDs iluminating the glass from different angles and the glass is not diffusing it.
So you can see both red and green mixed together, but not blend into yellow.
Only when I look from distance at the joint it can look a bit orange (as the red is brighter).

That's why I didn't say it was yellow if you own an international EVO.

Mine hasn't actually shown the "both LEDs on at once" glitch yet, but it has done all the others. Stuck red, flashing tri-burst red, runaway heating, no shutoff timer...

Concerned my evo may not be going where it is supposed to be. Would love input from any owners who had to send their unit in to the repair department in PA. after printing the shipping label out I noticed usps changed the city and zip code that the support team sent me. I have a feeling it isn't going to the right place hopefully somebody here can put my worries to rest.

Anyone notice a weird smell coming from the bottom of the EVO when inverted? The smell is a plasticky, electronic smell that I only notice when the EVO is upside down. I'm not sure if this odor makes it into the vapor path but it has me a bit concerned.

Yes I had a horrible burnt plastic smell coming from the bottom. It's in for repair now.

Had a concern about this, then I realized if you leave the EVO heated for long enough the smell goes away even when inverted. This made me think the weird smell is really just backdraft vapor resin in the bamboo that is overheated.

My reasoning stems from this:
if the smell was some synthetic material burning...
then the smell should get stronger if I left it on max heat for an additional 10, 20, 30, etc minutes.

Instead, the odd smell completely disappears when the EVO is left on.
Additionally, the smell instantly returns when I eventually do run an ELB through the EVO. Once vapor is re-introduced to the vaporizer.

So I am far from definitive on the issue,
but that was my reasoning a while back when I noticed this odd smell.

"After few hours I found the unit shut off. But no shut-off timer LED pattern (3 green 2 reds?)"

Mine just started doing this a week ago. Didn't bug me at first, but it just happened again, and it isn't turning red either. Went to put an ELB in a green-lit EVO and found it ice cold. That is a little annoying.

What are those industry standards?

Catching up . . .

Warranty is managed as an expense relative to revenue, expressed as a percentage. "Standards" are "set" through analysis of industry leaders (typically the largest companies). These essentially become "targets" aka performance standards.

In a consumer electronics analysis by a warranty trade journal comparing leadership warranty actuals to accruals, nearly all companies fell within the 2-3% range. The report cites 5% as the cut-off for a "manageable" level of warranty. Small immature manufacturers are very often above this mark.

Imo definitely not resin mine was brand new so no time to build up resin and the smell was way different burnt plastic/electronics smell:puke: It also only came from the bottom of the unit and any resin would build up at the top.

Hope they get it sorted out and returned soon.

Heat rises so I would not leave your EVO inverted for extended periods of time. I have not noticed the smell with my units but have noticed that when I left my unit inverted for a long period time, it was getting rather hot to touch and the chamber with the PCB at the bottom could potentially be giving off a smell. If I use it inverted, it is typically only for that ELB, once that is done, I return it back to its normal position.

I only left it inverted to take my hit then flip it back over and wait a minute before taking another hit. Never got a chance to use it with anyone else so it never stayed inverted long.

I would also like to add that customer service was very pleasant to deal with so far which is a huge plus imo.
