Gear HE Carb Cap method

I received my cap. Thanks @GSH for the link, 420titanium are good retailers, they have been fast, efficient and very polite.

The carp itself work as expected and is beautifully crafted, producing more vapor from the same amount of oil, at lower temperatures. It definitely fits good the omni and I can see it fitting a lot of gear.

I'm impressed by how it changes the way you use your gear. Definitely less need for high heat, I just use my torch at the lowest level and for just a little time, I wait for the nail to emit vapor from my previous dab, if the vapor doesn't smell high temp bad it means it's the right temperature to drop.

I'm already saving on butane, but while experimenting I used a lot of concentrates. It's fun to use so you end up chaining dabs on dabs on dabs.

Instead of waiting after torching for the temp to lower, I try to torch just enough so I can cut the waiting to a minimum. I also don't like the smell when you get the nail too hot, the residues from a bunch of low temp dabs tend to smell super bad if you get them hot enough to vaporize, if you torch it and stop in the middle, when not everything is burned, it's terrible.

SCS is finally releasing a carb cap designed for the OmniNail! It has a removable dabber with an air hole at the end to get air down the centre and it can be screwed into either end. My HE Mini-Cap has been doing a decent job but I'm definitely getting one of the SCS ones when they're released.

I don't think I'm going to buy it, I just got the Ti power carb cap

At least the carb I bought fits every kind of nail on the market and has something cool about how it look. The SCS cap looks convinient but I'm not a fan of the huge ball tip.

The minicap just sits above your omni and you have to maintain it so it's not convinient am I right ?

dumb question, but if i have a domed setup, would it be worth it to buy one of these? money isn't really a concern, but if it works, i'd rather have one of these than use my finger to carb it. I've been using shotglasses to carb but i'm concerned the heated glass could crack or explode.

That's right and it's why I want the new one. You can get a seal with the Mini but it needs to be exact, works without a seal but not as good.

it is most definitely worth it to get a carb cap
if your are going to use it with a domeless nail don't get one to use with your glass dome
personally I have the regular size with an dualiti nail this is the a nice setup
I also have the 10mm cap with the 10mm domeless
I have always capped with my finger or you can use a marble if you find the right size you can just set it right into your dome and pick it up when done.
but it doesn't compare
now a days I don't want a dab unless its with a cap at a low temp

the best setup I have is the enail with an infiniti and regular sized cap run the enail around 680 F wow!

Anybody know if a carb cap will work with the so-called torpedo design nails? The ones with he disk that unscrews with seven holes around it?

So how is the carbcap better than carbing a dome?

The hole size is perfectly adjusted, you don't get resin on your fingers, it works much better in every way.

I had no idea it would make a such a huge difference ! I seemed hard to believe.

I grow to like the cap I picked up more and more since I can use it everywhere, it even fits my straight glass domes. I like the idea that I wont need to buy another one even for my next nails.

@Resinberg I'd love one, but it's out of my budget, I only use a G of wax per month (in less than a week). It would be the best to avoid overshooting temperature, the smell of the nail when you over heat it after a bunch of low temp dabs is terrible.

@Roger D i fell ya there iv seen some enails selling for 700-900 dollars recently

but alittle tip for you or anyone else out there if you are some what handy and like to tinker on stuff like i do you may be able to build your self one ... I bought all my parts from amazon and at the time i opened up an amazon CC and got my entire enail for like 90 dollars im pretty sure regularly priced you can do it for like 120 dollars if you already have some of the tools like a dremel and soldering iron i know its still not dirt cheap but compared to the others out there and having the skill to build and fix it your self also being able to customize it with led lights or whatever you can think of

if anyone wants to do this or has questions i have all the info and wiring diagrams just let me know

So whats the consensus as to a "universal" carb cap? I dont need one with a dabber, but I AM looking to try different style 14mm quartz nails.

It's still a blooming market, I only found this one while searching for a cap that would fit most nails. (Ti Power TiRANT Carb Cap)

The dabber is a must if you want to hit your piece while you hold it. To use another dabber you have to put your piece on your desk and lean to hit it.

Did you notice low-temp dab and carb cap method produces less reclaim in water tools?

My rigs was quickly full of resin when I dabbed at high temp wth my ti nails and since I switched to low temp and carb cap they are cleaner and reclaim is less dark!

If you are not gonna heat it after you cap it (only reason not to need the dabber version. It gets hot.)
To experiment with carbing maybe a shot glass or tiny Pyrex or ceramic sauce cup. Something you may already have in the kitchen. If you do want to heat while capped definitely a Ti w/dabber, as I haven't seen a glass version yet...ahem... @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd.

My dab bar tender, at the MMJ market, is using a carb cap, and, thanks to all of you, I now have the idea of how it works, and, when I do a dab there, he & I are working in sync. :)

It is much nicer, yes.

I currently use a Ti with a dome, and I do the fat finger method of capping my dabs now...

This thread was instructing enough to convince me to get a carb cap. I'm using it with a ti domeless and dabber, and can I say....W_O_W?! It seems to help retain heat that radiates off of the nail, which means the dab can be a lower temperature. One of the benefits is increased taste. Another is a smaller amount is vaporized, so a dab is getting almost twice as many hits that are much milkier.

Before the shatter would jump off the dabber onto the nail, and then I had to to finish it so oil wouldn't be left that had to be torched before the next hit. Now the shatter stays on the dabber, and only the bit that vaporizers comes off the dabber. Waste is way down. and there's a lot less reclaim on the nail and the vapor path.

I'm a believer in carb caps to milk things up.

Exactly this. I just got one a couple of days ago and the difference is really astounding. If anyone is on the fence about buying one because it seems gimmicky or unneeded just like everyone else has said you're just wasting your oil without one. Its definitely made my dabs not only more potent/effective but so much more tastier. :D
