Ok so I was rapping with a guy here at FC and he had an idea of adding a band of some sort to the stems I make. I was intrigued by it and have really been thinking about it! How cool would it be if I added a polished metal band of some sort to the Solo stems? Hmm got me to thinking, I have had some gold and silver leaf for a while that I wanted to use in some way or another but hadnt thought of a way to implement it. What if the rings on the above Solo Wong were wrapped in genuine silver leaf? How bad ass would that be? What if I put a very shallow band around a Solo stem up a little from the SS bushing and wrapped it with either gold or silver leaf? HMMMM this has really got me to thinking! I think this would be a really nice way to make the stems POP. They could be a limited edition kinda thing.

Whats ya'lls thoughts????? Pls let me know!

I'm thinkin WOW - Snap Crackle & Pop! Wondering though if gold/silver leaf would wear off over time with use? Could an Ed's TnT cigar style band be an option also, like the one pictured below - less work intensive per stem. The user could opt to leave it on when using, or remove till after use.

I am hoping there is something out there that would seal the leaf and also if it were wrapped a few times, not just once, it would last longer. I know it would be a little more labor in making the stem but could be a limited edition kinda thing. I think it would be fun to do for sure and the customer would have something just a little more unique than what everyone else has.

Applying & Sealing Gold Leaf:tup::nod::rockon:Man O Man ...things just keep on getting better at Ed's TnT!!! Just a thought ...gold/silver leaf would fill-in the Ed's TnT stamp like butter, and with only just a micro-dab of primer-adhesive first, then sealer to finish it off - Classy, Simple, Fast, Done!

Hello and good morning, I hope all is well out there. We are having some of that crazy southern weather down here. Freaking tornado's have been breaking out here and there ripping up what ever is in their path! I gotta get out a check the storm shelter today, make sure theres no spiders and such. Its that time of the year here. The weather radio went off all night last night, tornado warnings one after another, flash floods, you would have thought it was the end of the world listening to it. But all is well this morning, still a little gloomy outside with a little drizzle, hoping it shapes up for a better week ahead.

@Reflections I appreciate your enthusiasm and believe me I am gonna make you a sweet curly Koa Nano stem with some sort of accent, be it silver, gold, or turquoise, you can bet its gonna be the shit! Hang in there with me, I got your #!

@1_gr8_underdog, @stickstones, and @Snappo I thank you all for your thoughts and sharing them with me.

@Snappo Thanks for all the links you posted bro, I am gonna have to spend some time with them and get a handle of how it needs to be done. I like your idea of leafing the brand, that would look bad ass and would really set the pieces off. Been thinking that I could do that with all the stems I retail from my site. I dont think I would do it to each and every piece I make as far as the wholesale sales goes, but would do it as a custom one of a kind piece that can only be gotten from edstnt.com. Thanks for all your help, I appreciate you!

I have got a lot to do and a hellova lot more to think about! One thing at a time for now until I get those freaking clones! Does anyone know where I can get this done?

I really like the idea of leafing the brand, sounds like it would look awesome!
I have a Solo stem of my own making its way across the pond, should be here any day now I believe, soooo excited about its arrival!
Gotta love new accessories:)

Hi @Ed's TnT

Hope these tornadoes are behaving and that you took those spiders for a gentle walk.

So as you might remember we quickly spoke about a "pyramidal'ish" base for the ascent stem and even though I'm pretty sure you've already thought about this, here's a "suggestion" in 3 parts that includes a space for the screen (disclaimer: apologies for not being talented like @Adobewan :D)

stem_idea.jpg

I've also added what I had in mind about the mouthpiece, it'd have to stick out of the Ascent a little bit but I believe it'd be more comfortable and at least it'd make it easier to slide the stem out (I'm struggling with my tubes when I got recently cut nails...).

Regarding your question about the gold or silver leaves, I think it could make the branding stand out nicely but it doesn't seem to be an option for the Ascent stems because of the rubbing when sliding them unfortunately, right?

Edit: another idea!
I was thinking about how you wanted to make limited edition stems while switching to another favorite thread of mine: the @JyARz 's one; need I say more?
Of course not but I'll word it anyway: how about nice wooden shells for the JyARz glass inserts?
Guys, raise your hands if like me you think it'd be the most awesome container!

Good morning,

@°k Wow nice work on the diagram bro, you done good! I am sure I could make you a stem with a rounded end like the one you pictured above. Not sure about the pyramidal base though, looks like a bunch of work and alot of time and time is something that is not on my side now. I am turning the inner stem with a small lip on the bottom end of it so it fits snugly and stays in place. I gotta tell you the Ascent stems are really taking some time. I started my day at midnight last night and turned inner Ascent stems, in 4 hours all I was able to make was 27. These have to be so precise and the wood is super dense so it takes quite a bit of time to make just one. Also gotta be careful cause every time I trash one I am throwing away money! I feel you are right about leafing the Ascent stems, just dont think that would last with all the sliding in and out. The Jyarz idea is a good one but there again, I really have no time to do anything like that. I dont have time now to make and offer Ascent stems or Nano stems, I am still trying to finish up wholesale orders. Hoping to get these knocked out soon though, I know folks are interested in these two products. Thanks for the post bro and your work. I hope all is well!

Oh I almost forgot my excitement from the other day, so I am getting my taxes done and my lady is finishing the paperwork and tells me I owe $4300 less than she originally thought, I got this hella grin on my face and she is like what are you smiling about, I told her you just saved me a pile of dough, why wouldnt I be smiling! Oh what a great day! Felt like I just called Gieco!

Hi @Ed's TnT

I hear you regarding how much time consuming and tricky it already is working on ascent stems, I also understand that it's not the best seller amongst the current vapes so it totally makes sense that you put your efforts elsewhere. I also still have a few spare glass stems to break so I can be patient and maybe ask for a custom job once you got some time on your hands.

I do feel though that it sounds like it's time for you to get an apprentice (the kind they call intern in an office and that usually get freebies and a nice intern-ship report as salary ) for the summer to do the easy job while you work on some more elaborated pieces, R & D as well as some limited editions to stock up for Xmas for instance as I still think that a JyARz / Ed's TNT collab would give a very nice result and has a market.

I know I might sound a bit insisting but that's just my :2c:, no disrespect meant at all. I wouldn't dare getting into one of these with you bro! :D

I will split this information between here and the E-Nano thread, to be fair.
Proud owner of a wooden E-Nano stem from Ed's TNT!
Very excellent work on that single sided pin... I wondered how you would handle this aspect due to smaller circumference... and you done good. At that size, the pin is 100% stable.
I gave it a workout, and it is not going anywhere soon.

The stem was gorgeous right out of the package.
only one thing could improve the looks of this......

DSC03197.jpg

... that would be Ed's Bomb Ass Butter! (I use Peach)
Apologies to Ed and the Universe for not seeing that the can was upside down!:|

How do you like it now?

Hello and good afternoon, wow its a nice spring day down here finally, its about 75 degrees, we have a nice wind blowing and a cold beer in my hand! Soaking it up yall, soaking it up!

@°k No disrespect taken bro, I feel ya on needing an apprentice, I could use a couple of em. I do have one guy that does work for me and has gotten damn good on the lathe. He is better in some ways than I am, he has a different way of turning of course, his eye is dead on, and his production is fast. I pay him based on performance, the more he turns, the more he makes. Hell he has made as much as $90 an hour! Oh he didnt start off making that but has really gotten good over time. Just wish I could find a couple more guys, but finding good help is so hard. Especially help that cares about what they are doing as well as the tools and materials they are working with. That and I just cant let anybody loose working alot of the wood species I offer. Hang in there with me though, hopefully in the next few weeks it will slow down a little and maybe I can do you something custom.

@KidFated. Thanks for the offer my man, if you were closer I would sure put you to work!

@Vitolo I am glad that piece made it and you have put it to good use, thanks for testing it for me! You know I appreciate the kind words! Thats new species Paela is the shit, it looks almost orange in those pics. Give it hell and let me know how it handles please! I dont feel like its going anywhere but wanna give it some time and use before I try to make a bunch of em. Thanks for your help!

@CHIDOY Thanks for stopping by!

@Snappo Wow that a nice piece, I really dig it, was fun to make and I enjoyed it, hope you do for a long time to come! Thanks for posting all the pics, I appreciate you!

@Reflections Thanks for the kind words! I do offer Bomb Ass Butter at my website but unfortunately I am all sold out of it at the moment and need to get more tins and make more butter. Hang in there with me your piece will be the shit, count on it!

@jambandphan03 Thank you, I hope your glass gig is working out and you know I wish you the best!
