Seriously tested ... Functioning correctly ... Not sure that I am ... Wow very vaped

In answer to why this fixed my problems ... Consider the effect of shorting ... It bypasses all thermostat control. The live terminals were in contact with the PCB.

Anyway ... All my problems are fixed

So one of the switch contacts was shorting to a trace on the PCB, or just touching the fibreglass? Touching a trace may cause nastiness, or may cause nothing, but touching the non-condutive fibreglass won't do anything. Also, all the units would have to be shorting to exactly the same place to all be demonstrating the same behaviour like this.

As regards switch contacts shorting to each other, that's just the same effect as operating the switch. If they're in continuous contact your power switch would be stuck "on" (regardless of switch setting), and if they make intermittent contact it could blip "on" when such contact is made (again, even when the switch is turned to "off"). Such intermittent contact won't blip the unit off off when switched on, though, as the wires are then already shorted through the switch internally and it doesn't matter if they're also shorted externally.

My unit went from green to red after it heated up possibly due to heat expansion and my switch stopped working. My impression is that a degree of spring in the contacts being forced together is affected by heat.
Explaining why my unit works for a few minutes before the red and overheating.
The lugs were shorting with the PCB ...

I thought you had two units? So one is fine?

Or it sticks on red most of the time like everybody else that's reported in so far?

Yes ... Both had the same problem though on mine one tab had a bend that meant it contacted the PCB
My wife's tabs were both flat and almost touching. I cannot believe that this could ever be certified ... No point having a switch with both tabs exposed and able to contact each other...

For anyone interested in removing the switch ... Remove the power plug before starting
The bare leads are 240v when plugged in!

Whilst removing the switch is a simple process doing so may void your warranty and could be dangerous.

I'm a bit confused. USPS tracking says that they attempted a delivery on the 4th. My local tracking's last update is "The shipment has been processed in the parcel center of origin" from the 4th. I was at home on the 4th and no one tried to delver anything. Any one have an idea about what's going on?

And my EVO is dead :(

Had the runaway heater issue, with full orange glow coming from the bamboo.

Once it cooled down, I noticed a bit of the bamboo had deformed on the inside...
The bamboo was still airtight though, so I had a couple more elbs and then put it away.

I went to use it the next night, and when I put the EVO into my Lattice FC bubbler, I heard a slight crunching sound.
I took my EVO out to see if there was some grit in the joint or something, but there was nothing.
I gently wiggled the joint of my evo, and it moved a bit and made more crunching sounds - Bamboo is fully cracked :(

I didn't have a backup vape with me so had to go without for the night :(

Oh well, back to the fakexhale for now, apparently Replacements are being shipped to intl distributors soon, so I'll have a new, working EVO soon enough.

Looks like I won't be getting my EVO anytime soon. :( I just called dhl and they said that the address was wrong. It is already being sent back to the US and they can't reverse it. I was expecting to get the EVO on Monday but probably won't even have one in April now.

Yeah I can't see the address they used, but he said it was wrong and sent back. I checked my emails and I said the address right each time. I opened a support ticket so I'll wait to see Vapexhale's response I guess.

There is an update now from Saturday which wasn't there yesterday. It says "The shipment has been postponed and will probably be delivered on the next working day." Which is today I guess? I really don't know what's going on now, but I hope the guy on the phone was wrong.

Just thought I'd update the peeps with my Evo experience.

Received it on Wednesday morning and have done a bit of testing over the weekend with friends. So far I am extremely impressed and more importantly it doesn't seem to have the red light/overheating issue! Rather surprised as does that only make two of us with working Evos? I have plenty more testing/acclimatising to do but so far the red led has gone green when at the right temperature and flashes between the two when is nearly there.

I've not increased the dial past about 3 o'clock yet and not sure that I'll need to. Also I have noticed that a couple of times the light is red but goes green when I actually turn the temperature up a little so it seems to have become slightly hotter than it is meant to- don't think that this is a flaw rather the heating has overshot the mark somewhat. It does seem to cool down ok (ie turn the heater off) when I turn the dial back down (say from 3pm to 12pm) and the led is red when too hot and then back to green when it has cooled.

So as far as I can see it is working as it should. I've not tested the auto shut off feature, it's not been left on for over an hour (is that the shut off time?) as I'm slightly paranoid about the bamboo cracking and to be honest I definitely don't need an hours usage of the Evo to get where I want to be...

Pretty pleased with the device! Hope it doesn't start malfunctioning and that everyone gets a working one asap so they can be as happy as I am with it!

Thanks for all the patience guys. Our engineers have been working hard over the weekend to come up with a scalable solution. Most of the units (not all) that are running too hot are in countries that run at 240V (and sometimes higher depending on the location and how clean the power is) so our engineers are working on a new algorithm that will automatically adjust the vaporizer's heat range to the voltage that it sees. Previously, the algorithm was optimized for 220V but programmed with a buffer so even a 240V jolt wouldn't affect the unit but we have been told that in certain areas you can see spikes of 250V+ during certain scenarios.

As I get more feedback, I will be sure to update you guys.

It's a pretty common standard for appliances to be able to gracefully handle their rated voltage plus or minus 10% to account for local variations in power quality. For 240V this means as high as 264V, and for for 220V as low as 198V. So the new algorithm will scale automatically over this range?

Will they be tested with 50Hz A/C this time? Worldwide this is far more common than 60Hz.

Every watertool is ok but the up part of the case is destroyed/crushed. the same direction was the bamboo of the EVO. I found the case opened in the package. i immediately tested the bamboo integrity in blowing into the bamboo and putting the finger in the other side: air is leaking for sure. air should not be allowed to flow with the pinky in the back of the bamboo.

Please someone confirm i am right with this criteria.

Experience was nearly combusted ELB, i see some cracks by the upside of the unit. Erf:bang:

Yeah, that's a leak. Mine is cracked, and apparently this confuses the heater as mine routinely combusts at noon.

Well ... My wife smelt burning and then starting hearing arcing inside ... Support ticket raised
It tripped our fusebox the first time she turned it on ... So I suspect it may have something floating around inside causing the short.

My unit is performing correctly ... And very well !

I don't know why the DHL support said it was being sent back to the US. The only thing wrong with the address is "street" instead of "straße". As I said before, the USPS tracking said there was a delivery attempt when there never was. DHL tracking said maybe monday... maybe was a no... tuesday was no good either. Vapexhale called DHL for me and they said they would attempt a "redelivery" on wednesday... I think you know what happened.

Anways, I'm going to go pick it up in about an hour. :nod: I got a letter from customs today that says I have to go pick it up from them.

Edit: Got it! All glass seems intact. Will update later.

WARNING TO ALL INTERNATIONAL EVO OWNERS

I recommend unplugging the unit when not in use. And watch it when in use as it can change from a green led to a smoking/glowing hot bamboo overheat issue, all by itself!

I am just thankful it was noticed and no fire started in my home.

I for one kinda regret getting the EVO, I got the email yesterday saying they are still working on making it work, when I thought the units were supposed to have been shipped last week. Feels like it could be another case of months before I get a working cloud. Really wishing I'd just bought a sublimator. I really want one anyway and I feel like those things actually work.
