Here's my method , while I'm waiting for PV Gongs .
I use 3 O-rings in varying sizes , for a better/even seal .
The bigger one will push the 2 thinner ones down further .

They fit perfectly ,I've been using them since day 1 with the Solo.

Enjoy

Ahhh Im starting to get it now thank you :) the pic helps a lot.

Hello all. Long time no see. Just wondering what is the benefit of using these screens? I use the stock bent pipe with no screen and just wondering what I am missing out on.?

My understanding of it (and how I use mine) is that screens allow a finer grind for more efficiency and allows for smaller loads. Plus no ick in the mouth. a few night ago I had a very light load an my screen slipped yeah getting some chunks in the back of my throat wasn't the relaxing before bed vape experience I was going for :p.

Oh whats that third from the right and what does it do its pretty!

Yup, that's what it is. The difference between stock and HES is that the HES (high efficiency stem) has notches cut out on the rim of the stem as well as 3 shallow channels to help improve airflow. The older models tend to have a "milkshake" thick draw, but the newer ones have bigger air holes so it's not an issue.

Ahhh ok thank you for the elaboration :). I had that milkshake sensation till I got screens now im usually fine. May be worth a HES attachment though for water tools sine it has to travel father?

I once worked with a crazy man who had a favorite tee shirt he'd wear for formal occasions (company parties, staff meetings and so on....). "Heaven will never let me in, and Hell is afraid I'll take over".

Makes it kinda clear, really. Fun guy in a lot of ways.

Back when I was still getting hospitalized every three to four months, around the fourth time I went in (to the ER, mind you) the triage nurse recognized me and mentioned something about being back so soon. Couldn't think of much else to say but "well god doesn't want me and the devil's scared." Got a couple laughs and a couple shots of the good shit. Then I had surgery the next day. Some time before when I was working a lot more at my old job, we'd get out late sometimes, around 2-4am wasn't uncommon when we had a lot to do. I'd be offered rides to my car (which you could see in the parking lot) so I wouldn't get kidnapped or some such. Just laugh and say I'm not beautiful enough and no one would want me anyways... kinda reminds me of this funny Chappelle bit...

I like having a GonG attachment becuase it's clean and simple to attach to any GonG water piece. You could probably get away with one of those electronic cigarette silicone condoms, just snip the top off and you're good to go.

Hahaha that's EPIC! I love it :). My go to when people stare is "the gift of good health wasn't part of my package deal" that generally makes them laugh or shuts them up either way less tension.

I wonder who will be the first to make their own Gong or Stealth adapter. Are we not men (mostly)? Do we lack torches?

Looking for a compact case for the Solo? one that will hold a stem too?
If you have a Norelco electric shaver, you probably have a very usable
soft case, neglected and forlorn. Look in yer drawers.

The 'First Home Made GonG' competition is over. A clever fellow around here had the good idea to use the otherwise pretty useless potpourri cup (since it already had the critical 'fit the Solo' part).

Sorry, I don't recall who.

Being a beard owner, I don't have a Norelco shaver (it was a Sunbeam, and a lot of years ago....) but I took your advice and checked what was in my drawers anyway. I really shouldn't tell folks what I found there......it's just not that kind of Forum you know......

I would like to point out that the potpourri cup and be repurposed into a very efficient carb-cap, if your into that type of thing :p not useless.
sorry its slightly off topic but i couldn't resist.
EDIT i guess you threw the "pretty" disclaimer in there:p

Yup, I sure did. I also said "....the otherwise pretty useless potpourri cup". Not an accident, really, I try to be pretty careful with word choices.....trying to communicate important concepts you know.

Best use for the little guy I know of. I tried it with some essential oils we have kicking around here, kind of a joke, really. About the time it finally gets rolling the sucker times out and goes cold. The candle powered evaporators work much better, as does the simple resistor based electric one.

Best to make something useful from it, as Dr. S did?

I too wish to be as stoned as OF

Dude's even got a beard. Hot damn. Unfortunately for me, facial hair isn't my strongest point. I, uh... I can vape a lot of weed

Oh, you sure can be, even more so if that's your pleasure. I've never been very good with names, even 'real ones' with faces attached. I could go an entire quarter (even a semester.....) and still not know half the student names. I'm better with ideas an events, thankfully.

Only a damn fool would shave in the winter.

And ability (and resources) to 'vape a lot of weed' is not to be discounted.....even a little bit. Celebrated, perhaps?

Picked up a used Solo for $60. Shipped! I have only used my neighbors solo a few times. So I'm looking forward to getting this one. I will have more once it arrives.

Very cool, sounds like a great deal to me.

So, in addition to being a dashingly good looking chap (no doubt irresistible to women?) you're also in the top few percent 'lucky SOB wise'? Pretty sweet. I'd advise you to enjoy the Solo, but really don't think you need it...... IMO it has the chance of giving your beloved DV an unscheduled vacation, it sure did for mine. The both did, come to reflect on it.

Why thank you @OF you're too kind. I will have to get back with you on the DV's vacation status, right now I'm waiting on a warranty replacement.

@olivianewtonjohn yes, I found it on ebay. I am starting to really like that place.
@Dr. Soxhlet Thank you.

I have some serious reading to do for this one to get caught up. I don't think I can cover this thread in 2 days as I have others. 1026 pages, I'm cheating on this one. everybody?

... people do cheat a bit. Example: hiring an artisan instead of doing something yourself.

I meant actually DOING it, you know, reworking the pretty useless aromatherapy cup, torch in hand ...

I dream of making something simple out of mine, maybe something like this, for starters.

I could have every portable vaporizer made if I wanted.
That's not the point.
A vaporizer has a heating element that extracts the goodies from the FLOWERS of the CANNABIS plant.
The SOLO does just that.
The simple logic of this device is what makes it so appealing.

I mix it up with Stems & GonG's (PHVES/STOCK), Bubbler's, Water Pipes, Chillum's, Ash Collectors, Sherlock's (JHOOK'S)
And whatever you can dream up.

Some have large collections of portable vaporizers.
Accessories for each one?
I would need to rent a storage Unit for all that stuff.

You will find the SOLO does a good job now let the accessory collection begin!

Hey, have an issue and was wondering if anyone has experienced this. My solo will not turn off unless I unplug battery, the bottom blue light flickers, and when I try to turn it off the bottom heating setting and top heating setting lights alternate flashing. Just curious if their is a fix or if the best bet is to send it in

I actually read the whole Solo thread...but then again I'm quite insane!!!:mental:
Took several months and the thread keeps going sooooo fast.
I keet going back 100 pages at a time to get the more recent stuff first.
Now I'm in the process of doing that with the Persei thread(800 pages).

I'm guilty of that as well. I try to read a thread (completely if reasonable/possible) before commenting. No need to repeat stuff out of my ignorance, I came to learn.

Although, when it came to Solo that was just too daunting. And I had Dreamer pushing me to get on board. So I went back about half way and read forward. It was months later I went back and learned about 'the early days'.

I too am brain damaged in that area. More sane guys aren't going to read thousands of posts with a burning question on their lips. You must go to different group meetings than I do, though, I don't recall you?

Many have suggested reading backwards. I tend to think that's the best advice? You need to read forward to make sense of much of it of course (have the questions answered before they're asked?) so maybe go back a couple months or 50 pages (which ever is less) an you get a good feel for what's going on?

Nice glass??? You obviously have access to alot of equipment! I don't have a torch yet. My local glass blower had the 14mm connection, so it was really a no brainer. They did the job for $20.00 which included the part. This is a real simple conversion though. I don't know if one of those little "torch lighters" would do the trick?
But giving local craftsmen a little more business is always a good idea!!

Last night my new Solo decided it didn't have enough juice. The red light came on as the LEDs sank. Never experienced that with older model but maybe the battery never got that low?

I've had that happen on a couple of occasions in the past .
But it would always give me a few blinks of Red Charge light ,
before it'd stayed solid and do the free fall drop in temp .

Did you not get a few Red Charge warning blinks , spaced aprox. a minute apart ?

Yes, I believe so.

About to purchase screens and PV seems like best option. I like full bowls and Vapir2 dome screens lessen load. Anything better than PV screens out there?

Good call, isn't that the 'you blew it and I'm about to die' signal? I recall seeing it long ago (I think) but try to avoid anywhere near that deep a discharge (wishing the battery to not die prematurely). I suggest checking charge level at the start of each session and I will finish the first session that shows 'no lights' but recharge again before the next one.

This stays well away from 'the danger zone'. Deep discharges are tough on the poor battery.....and we ask so much of it.
