Portable vaporizer for a person trying to quit cigarettes, ease of use and high vapor production.

So I am looking for a friend this time around, he is trying to quit those deadly Marlboro cigarettes, has tried vaping with my VaporBrothers box but doesn't like both the heat up time and the time it takes to get to thick clouds, the temp control knobs, or the process of vaping(tubes, careful prep, etc...), he likes it simple pretty much, light and smoke, so the more simple the better.

My question is whats the most simplistic portable vaporizer with thick almost smoke like clouds, I am thinking the PAX is the best option but don't wanna throw down the money if something is superior, new stuff everyday so I might be unaware of a good one, this will be for tobacco so it needs to do that well.

He doesn't want E - Liquids, doesn't trust them, rather use fresh tobacco.

After reading your first paragraph, I thought LSV would be a great choice. However you want a portable so I suggest the Lotus but it's not the most simplistic, maybe a solo but its very possible he might not like the restriction. So off The top of my head, I can't think of a portable vape that he would fall head over heels. However I think there is a good list of desktops Sub, Herbie, Evo, LSV, SSV, etc. that would suffice. I have no experience vaping tobacco, just e liquid through an ego.

I have converted a few friends like yours with the Lotus! Fastest and easiest clouds of all the vapes I have tried. He should love the ritual as well. A safe bet!

Idk he didn't the the idea of holding the flame over my Vapor Genie so I kinda doubt this would work for him, just watched the video of it, kinda iffy, the pinnacle pro looks interesting also but unlike the pax the air path seems a bit up in the air being plastic and all, not sure about it.

I'd Go for a t-vape or a original Da Vince. The long tube T-vape is the best of around 30 vapes I own if I'm gonna vape tobacco, even almost made for it. He can just stuff that Marlboro in the tube and vape it with the T-Vape or tear off about 1/3 of it and drop it in the DV Both work for me when I want a Camel but can't light up.

If not a T-Vape I recommend the Hammer. I'm not a user of papers but I do have theories on using them with the Hammer. Its also a pretty quick heat and is like bringing a fancy lighter to the cigarette or stem.

Oh wow, didn't know the T-Vape existed, so you can just roll a cigg/paper and throw it in? How is the clod production compared to something like the Pax?

Go to the end of the thread there are videos, there are also more within the thread.

I feel the cloud production should be equivalent, the huge difference between the PAX and T-Vape is that you MUST press the button for it to heat the herb, its not automatically always heating.

Just read the whole thread almost, head hurts lmao.

Anyways, I have to contemplate the T-Vape, personally I would like this device I think, not so sure about him, the holding and temp control might just aggravate him actually which is why I thought **** it lemme just get the Pax, I just wanted to see if anything has come out or if I missed something just as simple(Pack, turn on, vape).

I appreciate the feedback though, some nice recommendations here, still gotta look into the hammer, gonna do that in a bit.

I think the Pax would work. As long as you clean it regularly, it just simply works. Throw some tobacco in, pop the mouthpiece out and heat it up for a minute or so. The trick is to clean the mouthpiece with a Qtip and ISO all the time.

Yeah I heard about the cleaning, its a slight concern, anyway to lessen the gunk build up, heard something about letting it charge upside down but lost the post while browsing through that giant Pax thread.

I hated my first one. The top always malfunctioned at the wrong times. Then it got a weird light thing (it glowed blue) so I sent it back. They sent me a new one and it's been working great for about a year. I mean it went to Lockn' Music festival, tons of ski trips out west, etc. I really like it now, and its got that 10 year warrenty :)

Hmm thats odd, most have no issues though right? That was just a lemon I am guessing? 10 year warranty is pretty nice but I am concerned about the battery, seems not so replacable, just emailed them to ask if its covered under warranty.

I've had a Pax since they first came out, they work, they are simple, but require almost daily cleaning to function properly. Since he's going to be using tobacco, taste will not be an issue. Ploom's customer service is excellent. They really do stand by their product if you buy a Pax from them or an authorized distributer . 10 year warranty really can't be beat. If you have a problem just go to the website and chat with them. They will replace anything that's not working right . My Pax stopped charging a few weeks ago and i thought it was the stand, they sent a new one that day and told me if it was the battery, they would send a prepaid mailer. It was the stand:tup:

I would probably just buy it from the main site to be safe, doesn't seem cheaper anywhere else, looked around a bit. Nice to hear that they stand behind the product though. Looked into the hammer, not really doable, glass and looks awkward in public most likely.

If your friend is going to get annoyed just from holding and pressing a button I would suggest NOT getting him a pax. I only say this because the maintenance required in order to keep the pax running at optimal performance is quite high. Lately Ive been testing to see just how long I can go without cleaning it, so far Ive done 12 ovens without removing the screen once and the mouthpiece isent sticking either. Im going to try to get to 20 sessions without cleaning anything and see how it holds up. Id imagine since tobacco isent as resinous it might actually stay cleaner for a longer period of time, but then again Ive never vaped tobacco.

Simplest and most full proof portable you can buy that is battery powered right now is the SOLO and that is what I would recommend. If your buddy can keep up with the maintenance though Id suggest the PAX every time.

See personally I don't really see the solo as an option, its nice but its big and not exactly something I would whip out anywhere on the go, I would classify it as a semi portable, in the way you would bring it to a friends but not pull it out while its raining at a bus stop with a ton of people around.

I can see it staying cleaner with tobacco(The Pax that is), anyone here use it for that?

The only reason I think the T-Vape might be annoying is it seems to take a bit of technique to get clouds where as the Pax it seems instant and easy, wish there were more little ones like the Pax, maybe in a couple years...hopefully lol.

If your buddy doesent mind waiting the indica is just around the corner (fingers crossed) I had a test unit and it blew me away. Im talking 15-20 min sessions with a .3, there is also VERY limited maintenance required unlike the pax. 5 different temp settings and looks like a big zippo. Id look into that because the wait is totally worth it.

Hmm that one looks great, any idea on release date? Seems ideal.

There is no technique, just press the button it forms vapor, but unlike the PAX you have the ability to control when its vaping to ensure nothing is wasted and you're not forced or guided towards finishing the bowl in a one session type thing. But I can agree it can be inconvenient.

You can use silicone stems or custom wooden/stone stems with the Hammer, I was also imagining if he uses cigarettes the Hammer would be able to just vape the cigarette like when your lighting it with a lighter but no combustion. But yes, using that in public is a bit iffy. I hate glass being an excuse when its an easy fix. Also you can heat it while its down by your side and you'd only have to draw for 5 seconds to pull a huge cloud do to its convection properties. You also don't have to wait as long as other vaporizers for it to heat, I can get a cloud within 20 seconds.

I could also see the cigarette style metal bats working on the Hammer as well.

My input as a former HEAVY smoker: Get the Pax.

I smoked 30-50 roll-your-owns per day for 20+ years. I received my Pax on 24Feb14. My last cigarette was on the morning of 25Feb14. I have zero urge to combust ever again, this thing is that good for tobacco.

The Pax is simple, effective and gives me too much nicotine at times. It is so efficient, I am now consuming about 1/5 of the tobacco I was using via combustion.. hence it has already paid for itself plus extra in the savings I am experiencing by the greatly reduced tobacco usage.

Caveats: 1. It is high maintenance, but once you get into the routine it is not so bad. If your friend is familiar with cleaning firearms, its upkeep should come naturally. Order your pipe cleaners, ISO, lubricant, etc. online, as the Pax Cleaning Kits are an extreme waste of money.

2. I am running two and yes this was expensive (although I am wary to put a price on my personal health). My first one experienced some minor issues the first week I was running it. Ploom took care of me right away (buy it directly from their website to avoid headaches down the road). I procured a 2nd one last week as a backup/one to use at the office/less use on my daily driver. I am now golden.

3. Slightly dry out your rolling tobacco and run it on Medium for best results. Halfway through (he'll know when that is (you can taste it)), power it off, "flip the brick," then run it on high. That usually keeps me good for a few hours.

The first couple of days where the hardest, but after cowboying up and getting through it, I think I can call myself a reformed smoker.. although it is a grey area. I do know that I am breathing better, have no nicotine stains on my fingers, have more energy & a more productive appetite, have been sleeping better, don't smell, have whiter teeth, am saving money & time, and just feel pretty damn awesome on a physical and mental level.

For recreational herb usage, it will work in a pinch or when mobile. For home use, I am loving my newly acquired E-Nano.

If I can expand on any of the above more, please feel free to post any questions that may come up. This is just my experience.. and free advice is worth what you paid for it.
