and yes ive done QWET runs with ABV with fantastic results. these runs dont happen often because i have to wait until my ABV builds up (i only vape .25-.5g of flowers a day). the return is always a dark amber shatter. i usually dont dab it, but i will use it in the solo stem described above or maybe make some ecig juice out of it. depends on how well i clean i up. winterizing ABV oil is a great idea to clean it up, but it def reduces the return amount.

I always have jars of ABV waiting to be processed. I use a lot of bud, probably 1/16-1/8 a day, I guess I shouldn't complain so much, I am very fortunate.
I've been using both this whole cannabis oil and ABV oil in the Persei. It works, No clouds, but:smug:.
I see there are newer cartridges now that may work better than the original too, but I watch what happens to others here before commiting any $$.
So I guess I'll have to try the Ethanol Quick Wash and add it to my other extraction methods-I extract fan leaves and trim with butter for cookie treats and the like.

Dr Soxhlet, the 20°C thing marked on your flask indicates that the volume was calibrated to 20°C. As far as safety is concerned you should be fine using that flask at EtOH boiling temp for your purpose.

If you ever want to use that volumetric flask for its designed purpose and make an accurate volumetric solution, use it at 20°C. That's all.

I was thinking more how the long neck would take away from the efficiency of the whole reflux cycle (solvent condenses on the long neck that is exposed to the cold air). You could make an effort and insulate it with some tinfoil.

Thanks, the idea was to use that long neck as a reflux column(without packing). For stronger solvent.
I've seen people use tinfoil for this type of thing, so I'll give it a try.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. Looks like the consensus is that extractions for oil that will be vaporized should use another method rather than hot ethanol in a soxhlet extractor.
Hexene and ether are two alternative solvents that would be better at this task. Not being a competent chemist:science: and finding ethanol easier to obtain, are other reasons that this method was chosen. Of course my original intent was fine for me, just like they did in the old days the whole cannabis oil was simply put in drinks. It seems there are several things that may help clarify things after the extraction like a separatory funnel, vacuum assisted charcoal filtration and other more complicated methods.
The best suggestions IMO are the ones calling for QWET, a technique using quick, cold ethanol washes detailed here:

I tried wraping the flask neck with foil as you suggested. Worked like a charm. Made the process work much more efficiently. Thanks for the tip.

Great another thread again. And again 3 pages. Can someone tell me the easiest way to do this? I know it feels lazy, but 3 pages for one method is to much for me. Any help is appreciative.

I don't have tubes. Or test tube things like that, that is stuff that I see on breaking bad. Can I just use any glass bowl instead or is there another easy method? Oh heck. I will do the butter thing if it is easy and if it gets the job done to get me stoned. Even if it tastes bad I will just drink the butter in one gulp and try not to throw up.
