How does mj help you?

Hello everyone!
Just want to share my story with Cannabis. I'm a 24 yo guy, and I'm quite fucked up hehe
I have severe pain in my back, neck and knees. I also have pretty bad nausea and anxiety.
I also suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder. I also get occasional migraines, which seems to ease them.

It basically helps all of these things.
Makes the pain a bit more tolerable, although it doesn't rid me of it.
It also helps me eat when I'm nauseous, mostly in the morning.
And last thing of all it helps me control the depression and anger outbursts I get from BPD.

Even strains that can not touch our pain can help us greatly.
When in a good mood, we can involve ourselves with other stimuli and overlook/ignore the pain during such distraction.
I also have pretty bad nausea and anxiety.
I also suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder. ....
You have much on your plate!
Thanks for speaking up so that others can "feel ya".
I wish to ask your opinion as a person with BPD.
In the distant past, friends with chemical imbalances told me of paranoid, and occasional "out of control" moments when smoking MJ. Those I still am in touch with claim no such issues when vaporizing. I could chalk it up to maturity and experience, and now they use the medicine better. They insist it is vaporization that simply does not cause the negatives.
Please speak your mind here as you answer.
Did you smoke marijuana after discovering your BPD?
Did you experience attacks of uncomfortable emotions when smoking?
If smoking MJ did exacerbate anxiety, I have a final question.
Do you believe that it could be true? I mean the claim that vaporization reduces episodes of anxiety as opposed to anxious episodes experienced when smoking.
I hope that you can answer these without feeling that put on the spot... your openness convinced me this was a legitimate question.

Well said ! I'm new to vaping, back to cannabis after 25 years away. Being able to travel to CO to buy made the difference. Never comfortable buying off the street in MN. My med issues are minor, lower back arthritis/pain and leg muscle pain from overuse (3-4 hours exercise daily). MJ and vaping are awesome.

Bought a cheapy pen vape with my CO rec buds. Realized immediately, this is IT.
Spent hours researching vapes and almost ordered Arizer Solo and decided to splurge with the miniVAP.
Like you pinpointed, sort of for the self concept /whole experience. The MJ is like a magic potion for me, immediate relief. And the experience is "quasi-religious" , maybe like some naturalist or Native American type religious thing??
Currently awaiting my miniVAP, anxious to try it.
FYI, these current genetic strains are incredible, must be 10X strength of my previous MJ. It just sucks having to go to CO for their rec buds.
I have a few vaporizers I use to medicate. They only heat the herb so we can inhale the vapor to medicate.
The MINI is good vape and should do a good job. I have 3 SOLO's I use more than the other vaporizer I own because I have so many accessories that inter change with them. Plus a quick get a way to back yard garden.
The MINI is nice however to it's like owning a Rolls Royce to go to the super market. If your a rich person why not. Vaporizers are gadgets or medical devices. I really should not be on this site because my focus is on the FLOWER and not the device!

I've been smoking MJ for a pretty long time now, 8 years or so. So it's nothing new for me. although my usage has changed a lot. Back when I started I smoked very small quantities, I then graduated to bigger doses in high school. Sometimes it would be a couple grams per session. I did reduce a lot but, vaping really made it therapeutic. I now vape around 120-130mg per 3-4 hours.

I find it actually calms me down and helps me to remain sane, not that I'm totally insane. As far as uncomfortable emotions, I get them easier in the morning before my first session, so MJ truly helps me. I found smoking cigarettes caused some anxiety issues when I started back.
If smoking MJ did exacerbate anxiety, I have a final question.
Do you believe that it could be true? I mean the claim that vaporization reduces episodes of anxiety as opposed to anxious episodes experienced when smoking.
About the smoking, I believe there might be some truth to it. In a way I find the high more subtle. I find I'm more awake and better able to concentrate when I vape compared to when I smoke with friends. When I first started vaping I found it lacked the punch (Carbon monoxide I figure). Now I find that even big joints don't affect me much. It affects me more, but in a really therapeutic way.

I hope that you can answer these without feeling that put on the spot... your openness convinced me this was a legitimate question. I actually like answering these questions, I think there's too little known about BPD by the population, and too much stereotyping because of movies or the general depiction of BPD made by the psychiatrists. BPD is more like being ultra sensitive to some emotions. It also induces anxiety, especially in crisis situation.

Also as far as the chemical imbalance thing is concerned, I find for most depressions, that it's bullsh.t. Most depressions are situational and don't need Anti-depressants. I did my fair share of them and I haven't found them helpful for BPD. They actually made things worse. I think that some BPD people actually have an opiate deficiency. The only time I can feel normal and resist my triggers exceptionally well is on Opiates, doesn't make me high either...

@DDave
Yeah, I have so many seeds waiting to be sowed. However I'm selling the house so I can't grow until it's sold and I moved...which is beginning to take a real too long, down to my last Oz or so.
Can't wait to get around to regrow RP OG Kush. Try out OG Raskal White Fire OG and White Urkle. I also have a bunch of Cali Connection and Granddaddy Purple freebies hehe

I guess I posted in the wrong place? Here's my story about my health improvements, I have gout and noticed that switching to vaping has improved it tremendously among many other things.

Would it be wrong to consider Cannabis a part of daily nutrition like one of the five food groups? The body's chemistry just seems so tuned to it after all, it should be like eating your vegetables, protein, vitamins and minerals?

Do you have trouble working? I have the same issues as you and it strikes me right as I wake up. I can't hold a job due to this, I'm only 20 so I want to get this in line before I need to hit the "real" world. I just started my job and I've already missed a few days because of anxiety.. I don't know what to do.

It truly depends on my mood and because of that I feel I can't work. The ideal thing would be an easy job literally next to my house, that way, I would be less likely to make excuses, and just feel extremely depressed and uncomfortable.

Use the "force"...
Not joking.. I mean it.
Use the power of MJ to make your work fun.
"I'm gonna get medicated and go make a game of my job."
Nobody will know you are medicated, so enjoy the power of feeling a small amount more "pleased" than everyone else. Use this power to get you through the day. Not super stoned.... just medicated enough to keep a small smile on your being!

Work at this idea, as you live for now by the conventional rules.... go do your job.
Use the same tactic I described to @ElevatedMindset above....
...and while you are surviving... getting by by the "skin of your teeth".... perhaps you too will find cause to know you are medicated and smile.
Also... while you are simply surviving, (knowing nothing in life comes fast).. make a plan and think... final goal being a job or career that keeps you closer to your home. Many ideas can come over the course of two years.. so make yourself a wide window .. of a couple years ... during which you will use MJ to modify your attitude, and help you find reason to keep plugging away at this. During this time you will imagine all opportunity close to home, and try to think of a way or place that you might fit in.
Don't give up..
The Universe is not so gracious a host that it will grant you a hole to fall into (like in a cartoon)... when things are not going your way!
Thanks for putting your feeling in print.

Thank you Vitolo, the sad thing is, that a few months ago, I was very happy, at work. But somehow I found myself in a depression. You see I'm a fiesty little creature. Once I do get a job, if I stay at the same level for too long I end up feeling useless and unappreciated. And after that I get depressed.
The thing is I get discouraged just looking at a job, because I know, down the line, like in 6 months I'll end up quitting again, trying to find "something better".

I'd love to go back to school, but I don't know if I could finish my classes, anyways I don't have any money...
The best job would be growing weed at home :)

Yes it would.
Only you can line up things with the Universe to make that happen... and yes... it may take time and money.
Let's look at today.
That was some good introspective self analytical prose back there.
I know that you are not psychic.
therefore:
The thing is I get discouraged just looking at a job, because I know, down the line, like in 6 months I'll end up quitting again, trying to find "something better".
is pretty harsh predictive behavior... that borders on self predicted failure.
By predicting your eminent demise in any given endeavor, you enable yourself.... to lose.
The anticipation of "when the shit will hit the fan" becomes so great, that you subconsciously sabotage
your own choices to line yourself up to believe that you must now escape.
Rather than build a chain of short attempts at something better, stay at something "not better" for a while... show the Universe that you have patience (you will be showing yourself also). It takes mental stamina and capacity to eventually wind up where one can be happy.
Next time you quit......
...don't quit to find something better.
Wait until you have something better 100% lined up in hand.
Signed/seled/delivered....
IN HAND.
Then.. respectfully give two week notice, because you graduated the school of patience..
.. and it is time to move into your ALREADY WAITING, next step in this journey.

EDIT:
I'd love to go back to school, but I don't know if I could finish my classes...
Please.. you're killing me here.
It is not your job to know if you can finish a class (or anything else in life for that matter).
It is your job to get the fuck in there and do it.... again and again if need be till you get it right.
Come on man...
I hear ya.
You suffer depression, but I do know you can give yourself a chance to shine.

It shuts the bitch up.

I use the mj superpowers to get emotional distance from difficult memories, while still taking them out and dealing with them.

Im with you on that. Its been one of the unexploited joys of MJ. For the first time ic an clearly remember since i was 8 or 9 my head is quiet at night. Not worrying, thinking, remembering its clear but not blank if that makes sense? Now i just need to find a good T again (mine left the state over a year ago) and id be in better shape

This statement is spot on!

This is why I have different strains for different times of day.

To be super medicated during the daylight hours I avoid.
Need to get things done.

Hybrids at low temps do the trick for me.

BLUE DREAM late when the "MONSTER" tries to get me!
During the day It renders me nonfunctional!
The FLAVOR PROFILE is awesome!
Thank you @Vitolo for the tip!

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES or DUTCH TREAT are my day time get it done strains.

YODA or GPD are my night time strains.
(EARTH is my next one to try)

I have other strains I love however they control me!

What do others recommend?

I'm still learning!

Mixing strains is not a bad Ideal!

BLUE DREAM mixed with DUTCH TREAT?
Motivational Flavor!

I've been using MJ in a variety of ways for about 10-11 years off and on. I started recreational and stopped for a while before graduating college and started back up about 6 years ago, 99% vaporization only (smoke a joint from time to time 3 x a year?)

After college, I moved to an MMJ/MJ state and as I aged I took a different look at it, a medical one. I have cerebral palsy in my right side with light muscle spasms and related muscle pain. It works great for both. In addition, I occasionally use it for anxiety/depression, I lost my son last year and almost lost my wife the year before. To top it off, I started having severe panic attacks earlier in the year (most likely a result of my previous tragic life events) and decided to quit my (terrible) job and look elsewhere.

I will say that MMJ alone did not help the anxiety and depression, I had to resort to therapy for that and it was the BEST choice I could have made. Happy thoughts and MJ are a better combination. :)

I was a recreation user before college.
Quit for 3 decades.
Like you I needed it medically.
I have late on set ATAXIA (SCA).
Have to quit all sports because of my lack of coordination.
After 3 years of not exercising I plan to return to the gym tomorrow.

Cannabis helps for sure however my strict diet does too. Exercise is my missing activity.

{Good Diet; Exercise; Cannabis}

I suffer from depression as well.

My wife tells me I was so active before my illness.

So I will do what I can!

Sorry to hear about your son!

I don't take MJ for any physical medication gain...I am not in physical pain or have any serious illnesses. I am a selfish shit show a lot. When it happens I don't care about anyone else. It's about me and it's about what I need and want IN THE MOMENT. Since I started using MJ 6 months ago, I use it as a "vessel" to catch up with my sick mind. I get in the vessel (can only get in the vessel when vaped) and speed up to my sick mind that is 15 miles away and going 120mph, throw chains on it and slow it down. Then when it is finally stopped I start taking my mind apart, taking out garbage thoughts, plugging things like compassion and selflessness in where they need to be, creating epiphanies, etc. Then I write things things down or put them in my phone or even mentally it hits so hard that I can naturally remind myself. I am a constant piece of work, from who knows what/why/when. MJ is helping me to create a new path...a better "me". I am a better husband & family man in general, I am more compassionate, more calm in certain situations, more reliable, I have more imagination and motivation. Sounds like the general description of maturity? Whatever it is this is how MJ helps me :)

Sorry if too much info I'm kinda of a little bitch sometimes :suspicious: I think MJ has a lot of potential applications for many things. Maybe I was born with more than average cannabinoid receptors, is that possible?

Just Some Loser
Ever since I can remember, I've suffered from migraines, crippling anxiety and an overwhelming sense of self-hatred. Typical misfit upbringing, parents divorced when I was young, alcoholic father, absent mother, younger sibling that looked to me for comfort and guidance. I was able to adapt to my surroundings enough to get through school and even a year of college. After that, my symptoms took a nose dive. I worked so hard at trying to “fake it to make it” that it would leave me literally exhausted and confused by the end of the day. When I turned 21, I tried drinking myself numb every night, and it worked for a while. Then I noticed that every morning I’d wake up craving the very poison that, in the end, just made me angrier… like my father. So, I quit drinking and resorted to hiding myself away from everyone, for years.

Fast forward to 2010, when I met the love of my life. Within days of expressing a romantic interest in me, I put all the crazy on the table and said, “Run”. I mean, I didn’t even like being around me, how could I ask this amazing person to be stuck with me? When I finished, I was shaking and in tears. I looked up to meet the most loving, caring, non-judgmental gaze I would probably ever know. Six months later, we were married. It wasn’t perfect, of course, but for the first time since I could remember, I was happy. Two years later, I started to feel that familiar feeling creeping back over me. The self-hatred, anxiety, depression, and most of all embarrassment for feeling all of these things when I was married to the most gentle soul I’d come to know. I spent my days laying on the couch, hating myself for not getting anything done. My nights were spent waiting to be alone so I could hide the fact that I cried myself to sleep.

One day I was introduced to cannabis. After spending so many years hating it, judging people who used it, and generally being misinformed…whoa :whoa:. I couldn’t believe how long I’d been misled. Within days, I was slowly getting my life back. One problem… the love of my life, didn’t love cannabis. I felt like I had to choose between the two things in my life that made me want to live! After giving up cannabis for two weeks, I found myself back on the couch. Not too long after that, I somehow managed to pinch my sciatic nerve. Having suffered daily migraines since childhood, I thought I knew pain…I was wrong. Suddenly, I was no longer on the couch by choice. Here I was, 25 years old, and I couldn’t do ANYTHING on my own. Not only that, but every movement I made came with a river of tears and screams of agony. I finally begged my spouse to “drag me to the porch and let me smoke my weed!” Within 15 minutes, I’d finished my bowl and STOOD UP ALL ON MY OWN!

Needless to say, my two loves are now very comfortable with each other. I switched to vaporizing about a year later and haven’t looked back. Now I vape daily for my migraines, anxiety, depression, various aches and pains, insomnia, and just for my overall SANITY. :D

Critical Mass tried some for the 1st time great pain relief. Classic indica stone dreamy/stupefying I also found it not at all edgy so anxious users may consider it. Maybe not the best if you need focus/motivation. But I did love it on a sunny day and last thing at night makes for a relaxing night with pain relief.

Did get a touch of nausea today mild but neither it nor blue cheese worked amnesia haze did the trick.
