Ooh, I got the BAS. Does anyone off-hand know of an inexpensive (say stock) tiny little glass bubbler to use as a dab rig?

Check out Apollo glassworks, they're americanglassstudio on ioffer, they have some really solid 10mm nano and 14mm micro pieces.

I just picked up 2 new rigs. First is a fumed Arsin Revolver. It takes a little to get it going but this things hits like nothing else. It sounds & feels like a chopper, the whole rig vibrates while you're hitting it. Dabs out of this are like a shotgun.

I have an apollo 14mm DI toro micro showerhead knockoff. It's a nice piece, but since they're so small and lack a splash guard they are pretty specific about the water level or you get a mouthful

EDIT: OK fixed the links not to use BM links... Sorry, didn’t know.

Well I grabbed another Faberge Egg, this one hand blown by Clear Dome in Toronto. Couple images from him...

My 4th rig from him and my 7th rig from our buddies in the Great White North :)

Its a 18mm Female joint and I plan on use it for my EVO.

Wow, @clouded vision that Geoff Platt is gorgeous! But then all these pieces just blow me away.

We used to do all our lab glass on bunsen burners. What does it take on today's glass? How is borosilicate vs quartz vs pyrex melted? Would a brass propane torch work, or would you need higher temp fuel, or an oxy/propane rig? Is there a reference for people making minor mods to factory glass, even Solo stems?

Is a "recycler" always a 2 chamber with that funnel flush effect?

yep. The blowers I see use a mix with O2. Special torches that are big and then the small wands.

Recyclers always have a recycle path, two chambers - that depends what you define a chamber as. My plinko for example doesn’t have a separate chamber for a funnel. It does have a funnel that entry is at the top and empties into the bottom straight down. Is that a chamber. Not sure, but its a return path. The water drawn up through the plinko area is bubbled and then hits the top and is returned via that funnel. There isn’t really a visual, but its an awesome recycler IMHO :)

All recyclers must have a way for water to be drawn up through a perc of some type from a reservoir and then returned back to that reservoir through some path whatever that may be. In the plinko’s case its a funnel that is open on either end suspended in the middle of the can. So you tell me if that qualifies as 2 chambers? IF not then it isn’t mandatory

While Clear Dome appears to have some skills... I can't help but :disgust: at yet another glassblower content to eat off of Mothership's plate.

Not sure I agree with that. Not sure they invented it and the name is copied never the less. Anywho, many people have similar rigs including Mothership, in fact their recyclers are copies with their seed of life perc. I know, own them and a fab egg from them. Also now 2 more Fab eggs.

I don’t put MS on a pedestal, knowing what I know about them. However, you are entitled to your opinion, which I respect, but disagree with. I put nobody on a pedestal I guess.

I certainly don't put mothership on a pedestal, I have zero ambition to own anything by them. Every person that has ever made a glass pipe has taken inspiration and elements from past makers. I personally draw the line between drawing inspiration from, and attempting to replicate. When Mothership first made the fab egg style, I saw it as an evolution of the Swiss perc by Dizzle. But see, they flipped it and made it their own (and even thought up their own name) instead of directly parroting the entire style down to the joint.

Do you consider Nate's collab with Sheldon as an evolution of MS or as a rip off of their faberge tube??Just curious.. I personally have the feeling that art is meant to be re-created, mimicking is a form of flattery to a lot of artists.. Not trying to diss anyone's opinion, and especially not yours! just putting my two cents in..

well, artists are trained to recreate art by others, not to profit from it, but to understand what went into creating it. You learn to walk in their shoes as it were. At some point, you develop your own style inspired by well everything in your life including the art by others.

I myself have duplicated many images by Ansel Adams. Why, well for one Ansel told me to when I met him hiking in Yosemite with my father. I was 9 years old and it was the summer of 66. I'll never forget it. Why, because how my father reacted, Ansel was his hero and my dad was/is mine. Ansel stated in plain words, duplicate and appreciate what others before you have done. That is your education. Then develop your own style. If people like it you will be successful, but if they don't stay your course and true to your style. Success is not art.

I took Ansel's words to heart and still do because he is completely right. I myself have learned so much by duplicating images of others before me especially Ansel. For me my photography was always and still is a serious hobby, not the way I make a living. I'm lucky that way. However, I believe there are many artists trying to make a living while they are still in their "education" stage and have not completely developed their own style. Some sell they efforts on the open market.

Guess the question is should they sell anything they make while in that stage and should we "judge" them if they do. I have chosen not to. I wish to support artists who are up and coming more than any other, especially over the ones that are so successful they worry about others copying it (aka they have something to lose and are overly worried about it). The successful artists don't need my help, the new kids on the block do. The ones that have made it and have something to lose demand a premium and that means they do not need "help"

Besides imitation is the most sincere form of flattery...

However, I also respect everyone's right to decide for themselves.

BTW, Dan Shelton is a personal friend. His fab eggs I prefer over the MS version. One I watched it get made. He makes them just for fun and not his bread and butter. All his water pieces are just for fun, his living comes from other work. Two, they are completely hand made and blown, no lathe or computerized tool, just a torch and a block of graphite. I prefer it because he made it himself and its a product of his blood, sweat and tears. That means more to me over anything else even if it was inspired by them. I even suggested something and he changed it per my suggestion. That made me feel warm

We're here to fuck shit up.
I had this piece made by Alexsglass. I noticed his work on Instagram and contacted him to make this piece, as well as the dropdown, and a 10mm - 14mm dropdown. It's about 8" tall, the bottom is fumed honey, the top is violet with Slyme drips, two honeycomb magnifiers, a cut opal, and that sweet green and black honey bee with a disco glitter center. The dropdown is violet with Slyme warts.

So does anyone here do a little glass melting to modify stuff? A first project might be converting the pro forma "aromatherapy bowl" that Solos ship with into a useful adapter, like a Gong adapter. Seeing how these adapter go for $25-30 + canadian shipping, it would almost pay for a little oxy rig like this. When you're not blowin' glass you can be blowin' minds, like doing high temp MMJ dabbin' demos for your sunday school class. And if you came to the concert in your wheelchair, with the dual tanks attached to the back, and the bubbler on the little folding drool tray, would they DARE say no as you fire up some medicine?

I have a question that I didn't feel needed a thread, but wasn't sure where to ask, I figure here where glass is posted and talked about most...can someone help with understanding what exactly a "vapor rig" is? Can I use it to pair with a portable vaporizer, or even flowers? Is it it strictly made for concentrates in that no adapters can be used on them? While browsing for glass I see a lot of really nice "vapor rigs" or "oil rigs" and feel/wonder if I have to look past them since I don't/can't do concentrates?

Edit: For example- this Pyrology is nice, but can I make it work for me?

That Pyrology piece looks sick! You could get an adapter for something like that depending on what portable or desktop vape you are using. Looks like its just a 18mm male joint so an adapter could be found pretty easily.
