For me the 2 pc, lg, SCS has served very well. I need the larger diameter for arthritis grip, and I grind a lot of flowers. The quality of materials and workmanship on my limited edition SCS (bead blasted then clear?) is awesome, its hard to captue the beauty of the CNC lines and the bead blast to convery the "warmth" of the feel of this piece. I've used it for well over a year with grinder grease, never cleaning it, ignoring the little blobs of hash it created because I'm not into reclaim but luxury and convenience, and finally noticed that it was getting harder to turn clockwise, then, shortly after, counterclockwise. Now my eyesight is failing and I sometimes see things in photos that I cant see directly, but this thing was really dirty. I mean clogged dirty where the shredding surfaces were almost completely covered thickly with material. So, I threw it in my ultra-sonic cleaner in a Simple Green solution @115*F for a few seconds, and out it came clean as new. This is an older photo . . .

I have all SC grinders, and a couple of SCS.
They are my choice... and I only use 2 piece grinders.
I have been a heavy and regular user since 1967.
I have been grinding all day every day since about 1990.
I do not understand what you mean by the BB pellets.
I have never witnessed a bb sized lump.
I fill grinder, and position it as a tire rolling on ground, and I grind back and forth a number of times.
If grinder is held flat, the meds can not use gravity, and sit still as you turn... could this be causing you a spot on grinder that is not getting your meds?
Tilt grinder and try.
2 piece always has worked fine, even though I own a collection of 4 piece.
I have used the same "cookie tin lid" as my tray... and the same card as my scraper for
15 years. There is no kief buildup on tray.. and grinder just requires a stir tool or poker to loosen up any confined vegetable matter.
I get similar grind with my Space Cases and my SCS ... but the SCS seems to turn and start the grind more easily every time.

Thanks for the great idea as i'm a newbie. I found that holding it flat (4 piece) the herb slightly ground but fell thru the holes. So I was doing that, then tipping upside down to get herb back into grinding chamber, repeat. The tire rolling position should keep most in the chamber to be continually ground.
I like it and will try it, thanks. The only neg might be that more powder would get into the "seam" where the two pieces slide??

I would avoid the colored grinders. I've only encountered a few models where the colored anodizing holds up, and those are never a bright/glossy color.

My brightly-colored anodized sharpstone that I pictured recently is as blue as the day I bought it about 8 years ago, yes I realize that this could be an exception. It's my most-used grinder.

When I've cleaned my purple SCS with a qtip and ISO I've notice the qtip being tinted purple.
But my SCS doesn't look like it has lost color.

I always thought anodizing was chemically resistant but after seeing pics of what PBW does to an anodized grinder I believe it.

Yea it did some damage to that space case, made me a little sad inside lol
So far I like the Sharpstone I just purchased, especially for the price. Already have good kief production after 6 grinds or so but I think it doesn't do so good of a job at sifting the kief. I have noticed a little speckling but overall very pleased with it!
Definitely no space case, mendo mulcher or SCS but has a a fairly even grind. I'm happy to have a 4 piece again that's for sure.

I realize it is all dependent on quantity and the specific characteristics of each strain; but how should I qualify if I am getting good kief production?
For the sake of example, how much kief do all of you collect off of 1oz?
Do you do anything beyond simply grinding and packing?
Do you all leave coins in the collection chamber? I never did get comfortable with that.

Personally, I am happy to collect keif but it's not enough of a priority to make me care if some of it stays with the ground bud. I would be surprised if other brands were more efficient at separation, the only variable I can think of is screen density. I've never used coins in a grinder, or measured how much from an oz.

I do separate kief , to make pressed kief plugs for patients that like it, as a topper to their loads of flowers.
I dont use a grinder's screen or pollen sifter, but rather the finest bag from a bubble bag set.
On average it yields 5 grams of kief per ounce of flowers... less if not using pure bud.
