Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

If you read up and did a little research you would see that the QWISO technique is widely accepted. If you evape the iso correctly it is a very safe tek. A lot of states you can not buy 190 proof ethanol. Ethanol is used to winterize your final product. Lots of info @rollitup.com.

....there's a positive review of the ascent by janet fox in the vaporizer review...for those so inclined.. http://vaporizerblog.us4.list-manag...7532e083be687ad71a&id=ad8d9ec6e5&e=8ae2734e92

Ha. I like the fact the review mentions only the three original designs, despite the photo RIGHT ABOVE (and right below) both show the 4th model. (Of course the video gets it right.) Makes me wonder when the review was written...
:)

EDIT:
From the vid - "If you are not sharing... then you could just use this wide mouth rim..."

Methinks someone doesn't understand the BUDDY-rim...

I noticed the model # was 1AE1. I've never heard or seen that # until today. I guess that would be the newest model.

Received my Ascent today from the ebay seller. I haven't charged it yet or done the burn offs. I'll leave it to charge overnight and do the burn offs tomorrow followed by a 5 hour charge and then vape tomorrow night after work(or at work as its my own pizza restaurant haha)

First impressions though, unboxing this thing makes you feel so satisfied with your purchase. The amazing attention to detail and the premium packaging of this thing is mind blowing. When you take the unit out and hold it in your hand, it feels worth what you've spent. The PP I had before this didn't have this feeling. It wasn't poorly built but nowhere near the premium feel of this. Its not as ruggedised as a Solo but then we're comparing two different materials. The way the extra mouthpieces are packaged along with the glass jars, the little pouch to carry it in to the neat placement of the poking tool and the power button being at the top to prevent accidental press whilst in a pocket, and I could go on.

I've not been able to charge or use it yet so I have no idea what the performance will be like but right off the bat, this lives up to its name and price tag. A complete premium feeling and stealthy vape. Some would argue its not as small as the Pinnacle Pro but Pinnacle looks like a smoking device even though its small, whereas if one was to see an Ascent in your hand, they wouldn't have a clue what it was which is a big positive as my family isn't very accepting of smoking.

I should also be getting my glass beads or screens or flowers whatever they're called tomorrow. Hoping that method or the glass jar on top works well for small loads. These are what I ordered, any good?

I really like this vape and hope its function lives up to its amazing design and packaging. Really fed up of switching from vape to vape, just want to have a permanent one.

Fingers crossed :)

I really like those glass beads. I will be curious how they work out? Interesting that they have come up with a product geared toward the Ascent using the beads, maybe they saw that on FC. Might be an FC fan. I wonder if anyone has seen these before?

Also it mentions Arizer, the Solo doesn't need any beads for vapor clouds. Maybe they mean another Arizer product?

Gee_Grover have fun with your new toy. :lmao:

Your FC family isn't very accepting of smoking either.
:p

Good luck with the new unit! Slow and steady and you can have really enjoyable sessions!

Haha my throat isn't willing to compromise with the combustion anymore so here's hoping this vape puts an end to it. So this vape has drag resistance like the Solo?

Yeh they look pretty good and his description put an emphasis on lead and other chemicals so I thought he's pretty clued on but then he confused me by mentioning the Solo as it doesn't require any beads. I don't suppose he's referring to their use as a screen in the Solo stem as that would restrict air flow. I should receive them by tomorrow if not then Monday so will report back.

Thanks :) lets hope it goes well. How long do you think I should do the burn offs for?

P S - This multi quote feature is bad ass!

No drag on the draw. It has a very easy draw. You're going to love the flavor.
Do 2 or 3 burn offs. The glass gong makes a great mouthpiece. The Ascent Eds mouthpiece does a great job too. All that will come. Just enjoy.

It's probably secretly @OF, capitalizing on all of the times he's recommended the glass flowers.

No. What I was suggesting is not trying to do big hits, like what one would do from a bong (like doing it all at once). Sure you can get some nice big clouds off of this, if that is your thing... but it's all in how you approach the device. :)

Didn't you get your unit used? If so, "Burn in" and battery conditioning are probably already done.
But a burn in would be for the max time before shut off (20min??).

Keep in mind the motion detector will shut it off before that, so You'll need to move it a little bit.

1AE1 is European Model, 1AA1 is American model, the new carbon fiber US model number is 2AA1 (i haven't heard of any stealth or burl wood units with 2AA1 model numbers)

The Ascent flavor is spectacular. It has single-handedly converted me to vaping (FUCK combustion). Right now I don't have a vape, and suffering through a few bowls in my old bubbler (Molino), and the taste is hideous, I can't stand it anymore!

The drag depends on the mouthpiece used. If you're using the original mouthpiece, yes, the draw is easy - I found this is caused by air leaking into the stem somehow around the bottom. When I use my 14mm straight GONG as a mouthpiece, the draw is a bit harder. It seems the GONG adapter is long enough I can get a relatively tight seal against the silicon on the bottom. If I pull my GONG adapter up 5+ mm off the bottom, the drag is much easier (and smoother). This is because cool air is leaking into the bottom of the GONG adapter.

I actually prefer to use my GONG as a mouthpiece over the original outer stem. I haven't tried it yet with water since my D020 and PNWT knockoffs haven't been delivered yet

Less than 18 hours after my Ascent failed, I already had an RMA # and shipped my Ascent back for replacement. It'll be delivered to Davinci Monday. Hopefully I'll have a new Ascent by the end of the week.

Maybe too late, since my Lotus was also shipped today, It'll be here Monday.... The Ascent might loose it's crown as my daily driver!

Hey Ratchett thanks for clearing that up about the model #'s. Also what is DO20 and where did you find the knock offs, link? Thanks.

There's a huge cheap glass thread in the Glass sub-forum. Read the last few pages, you'll see quite a few members taking a chance on some china vendors. It's a risk, but for the price, I'll take the chance. I originally only wanted the PNWT knockoffs, but sprung for a D020 since everyone else was ranting about them.

Worst that can happen is I'm stuck using my Lotus and the kit's J-hook until I can find a suitable waterpipe

I'm sure many got the email with the new discount codes from DaVinci, but for those that did not, here they are:
Promo code BAV = 15% off customized Ascent
Promo code 15SKL = 15% off Limited Edition Ascent
Promo code 15ACC = 15% off accessories
Promo code PCH = Free pouch with Ascent purchase
*bows down*

THANK YOU!! I just saved $42 off the Skull Edition of the Ascent, thanks to you!! <3

I can't believe I just ordered this, but I'm a hopeless vaporizer addict!

Can't wait to try this baby out! :D

Hi Ratchett, I haven't been able to find that thread, could you please give me a hand?

The DO20 is a bubbler on the cheap glass thread. Suppose to be cheap and works really well. It costs under $20 last time I looked on DHgate website.

In my opinion my wooden stem by Ed enriches the flavor of the vapor. I've been using it exclusively with my Ascent since I got it a few days ago. A very nice addition. Thanks stickstones for mentioning this handy little device.

So charged and did the burn offs on my Ascent. Received the glass beads today, they're much tinier than I thought. I put about 7 on the bottom of the oven and put some herb grinded but not very fine as I'm not sure how effective the built in screen is at the bottom of the stem. Then layered on top with about 9 beads and packed down tightly as this is conduction so its better to have it tight unless that's wrong and we still need to leave space for air flow in conduction too?

I started at 195C, took a few hits, wow the flavour is beautiful! I love how the steam is the right diameter(in my opinion Solo's was a little on the big side). I then went up to 200, took a couple of hits, flavour gone ish by now but still hitting. 210 and I started tasting the burnt popcorn taste but the clouds were bigger now than they've been the whole session. I was getting big clouds but the very harsh popcorn taste was killing my throat with the cough. I pushed it up to 215 and hit one more before it was unbearable. Is that part not something I'm supposed to be vaping because normally you stop when you taste burnt popcorn? I was under the impression that you should keep hitting till the clouds don't disappear. I was sharing this with a friend and it got me where I needed to be but I dont know if I'm doing something wrong because I don't think this lasted me more than about 5 minutes from what I recall. It seemed to finish pretty quickly. I had about four vape sessions with it today and all similar results in terms of hits, flavour and the high.

How many hits approximately, or how long are people's sessions lasting them? I used about 0.3 I think. Obviously this information varies depending on temperature and herb strain etc but could I possibly get more than I'm currently getting?

This beads method is a bit of a pain with refills though, take the beads out and separate from the ABV, a little difficult to do this very easily while out and about. I'm partially sighted so won't be great dropping the beads and trying to find them. I want to try the glass jar on top method but does the jar stick? Do I use it without the cap? I suppose it'll be easier than the beads method for sure.

Overall, some positives from the vape session. I can't tell you how great it feels to be able to vape and just push the stem in, you're ready to pocket this. It got me pretty baked I must say, just wondering if I could possibly increase it's efficiency a bit more.

The only negatives I found were some vapor leaking through the unit's bottom and the buttons being too clicky and slightly unresponsive in my opinion. Both not major gripes but still rather annoying indeed. Overall, I think I've found my daily driver. The battery after four(albeit rather quick sessions) was showing 25%(one bar out of 4). I hear that the battery gauge is temperamental so I don't know how true that is. The battery is pretty decent if I can get 5 ish sessions. I suppose for now at least.

Now want to get some advice on how to max this thing out to its full potential. Is it a bad idea to fill up the bowl completely and keep turning on to take 4 - 5 hits and re-using it for a long-ish period of time instead of refilling everytime? Is it less efficient? Even if I manage my hits by turning the unit off for the last few? I'd like the easiest route in terms of filling up. Due to my eyesight(partially sighted) and not being able to vape at home, I'm forced to vape outside around my estate building where lighting isn't great so anything to make my life easier and reduce refilling sessions or make them easier.

Sorry for the very long post but I get carried away with detail lol

Vaping gives you such clear headed high - Just wow!
