Underdog Log Vapes

I don't think there's much of a temperature difference (if any) between different sizes, but the twigs are known to warm up faster and I think that maybe causes some confusion. The VVPS seems like more of an advanced feature for dialing in the size of load you want in your stem, and the specific temp(s) you want to vape it at. Screen placement, load size, and dryness of my bud seem to be the more important things to me so far. I say get it before someone else does!

Howdy Dogs, happy Monday morning to you all.. hope everyone had a good weekend. I was offline most of the weekend so have some catching up to do.

@ Lampshade - thanks for the write up, sounds like you're enjoying your Pup.

@ dklkse - oh man now you've given me a hankering to watch Holy Grail.. dammit. :lmao:

@ BD - Twigs do (depending on wood type) tend to heat up a bit faster and also run a bit hotter vs larger size pieces but not to an extent that makes a big operational difference for most users. Re: a VVPS - the vast majority of UDs are fine with the stock wall-wart power supply though occasionally one will come along that runs cooler or hotter than normal and those sometimes need a VVPS. Need aside a VVPS is a great thing to have and can really change how you use an UD but isn't, for the most part, a necessity. RE: updates/refreshes - we do them more or less 'as needed', usually on Sundays.. we're past due for one by a couple weeks but I just haven't had time to do it, too many pans on the fire I guess. I always simplify it down and tell people if they see a piece that really appeals to them buy it otherwise wait and see what the future brings. :peace:

Alright, well I'm off to package up all the orders that came in over the weekend and get these Pups on their way to to their new homes.

I literally had to work up courage to smoke my first bowl since getting my pup just to remind myself of what it is like. EW! :o So much worse than I remember it! I was using completely clean glass and top grade nugs with hash on top, too, so I know it wasn't a quality issue....

I hate to sound snotty like I'm some high and mighty vaporist, but fuck combustion! Now that I've tasted sweet delicious vapor, smoke is just vile dirty filth. I can't imagine ever going back. I used to think the name of this site was a bit vulgar, but I competely get it now.
Haha, I'm probably :horse:

Anyway, I need to figure out a portable vaping setup because smoking hash just isn't going to be good enough for me anymore.

Lampshade say it ain't so! Combustion.. ew indeed!

This place looks a bit slow, we're still having to access it via the direct IP address since the DNS we use is still apparently out of whack. How about all you Dogs, is this site running normally for you all?

Well guess I'll take advantage of the slowness and get some shop work done. Fighting rain again here in NorCal which we really, really need but slows things down in the shop so kind of a pain. :peace:

My DNS must be in-whack because FC is blazing-fast for me, since the site update.

If anyone is looking for a reasonably priced water pipe for their UD I highly suggest the orbiter by magic flight. It's got fairly low diffusion for really flavorful hits and I'm really digging the whip. I bought a 14mm male glass mouth piece for it too but I actually prefer the whip as I can sit back on the couch and leisurely hit it instead of having to bend over to the coffee table to take a hit.

New favorite water pipe with the only vape I use anymore other than my mflbs

Hey guys, I haven't been creating many UD videos lately and unfortunately this video isn't limited to just the UD but I'm sure you guys will appreciate the first 3 minutes.

I understand some of you aren't Reddit users but I don't wish to cross all of my comments over here, so here's the source page. If anyone has interest I have also gave some pro and cons of the UD (and Hammer).

Everything on the "Available" page is ready-to-ship, I believe. I don't know for sure what Dave's current shipping time is, but I'd guess it's pretty fast (day or two?). He seems to post new UDs to the website in batches semi-regularly (and also takes custom requests).

@underdog - hi there. I checked in with you about a year ago regarding international orders. Any chance of you accommodating international orders anytime soon? I would love to get a pup.

Can we get hollow pups for some doggy bags? I'm not sure how the cores looks. My classic core probably isn't a great reference.

@underdog Hi, how long is the wait for new orders?

Looks like placetime beat me to it.. pieces listed as 'available' are finished and ready to go. I'd say that 95%+ of orders that come in ship out the next business day. So.. yeah.. pretty quick.

Most custom vape orders ship in about a week and a half.

Hi there Gweilo - we're always reevaluating things but for now it's still a 'no' on international orders unfortunately, sorry.

I just received my pup today in the mail. Plugged it in about two hours ago and have been enjoying it ever since. There is one thing though. The herbs are turning black and there's burning taste after the first few hits from the nylon stem. Is this normal for it to be running so hot with the standard jameco power supply it shipped with?

Yeah the jameco runs at 13+ volts. I prefer the nylon stems between 11.8 and 12.5 volts on my pup. Any higher and it starts to taste burnt.

Yeah, it's tough to find a one-size-fits-all power supply especially given the variety of stems. Nylon stems run the hottest since they are placed so close to the heating element whereas the glass ones hold the material being vaped farther away. The power supply is sized to provide adequate heat to the glass and is a little too powerful for the Nylon stems with some Dogs.

There a lots of little tips and tricks you can learn to help use the Nylon stems with the stock power supply though. Adding a DC extension cord (see website) is the easiest way to drop the temp a bit. Unplugging the vape before hitting or blowing down into the top for a few seconds are other ways of dropping the temp a bit as well.

A VVPS is the best real solution but we're currently not offering one and many people find it overwhelming to pick one up on their own. It sure is nice though to be able to dial in your desired temp with the turn of a knob. :peace:

@ payton - Ah, I think I see what you're saying. Yeah I've made a few pieces (prototypes really) that work like that for filling bags and whatnot but never refined a design to where I was really happy with it. Really I think it's just not a usage ideally suited for a Log style vape.
I gotcha. I'll look into a VVPS. I've been meaning to pick one up anyways. Thanks for answering my question. You really do some amazing work. Loving my Flame Box Elder pup.

Thanks again.

@ Biw - I might have a used and slightly battered one laying around here that I could give you.. if you're interested send me an email/PM.

i got a cloud buddy recently so i decided to try out the deadfoot + cloudbuddy + water tool setup i had seen in another thread.

V0mw6JD.jpg

definitely prefer this to having the water tool directly on top of the dog (mainly because i had to insert another screen between the load and the heater and it was a pain to deal with between hits.)

I have to say I'm enjoying my Underdog as much as I did my first Vaporizer, What an awesome little piece.
Been having fun just doing simple things like making silicone stems out of just about anything that I can slip a piece of silicone over, good cheap fun.

Now I really want someone to start making the Vapor Lithe vaporizer again, OMG makes the perfect stem with the silicone Bowl attached then serves as a stand alone flame powered portable when you screw on the heat diffuser.
@underdog I for one would really like to see you offer some wooden stems for my UD even some simple wood stems like the simple glass stems(actually my favorite stems), Now that would be sweet.
