Want your dreams back?

When I vaped straight tulsi in my herbalizer, I had to turn it all the way up to get a hint of vapor but there was taste present at lower temps. And the taste wasn't good. Mixing with lavander, mint or mj may be best.

thank you for your reply. I have more tulsi on the way (as tea) but I am interested in seeing what it can do while vaped.

will drinking this stuff improve dreams even if you're way vaked? the only time i dream, like a lot of us partakers, is when we have an (often forced) t-break.

I was looking into the pharmacology of ocimum reniflorum, seems to be a COX inhibitor (similar to ibuprofen). It's intresting if this has anything to do with memory and remembering your dreams. I know there's some studies on COX being involved in THC induced memory dysfunction.

Thanks all for this helpful info. I've been largely dreamless for the past decade ...here's to hoping that I can remember at least some of them for the decades to come ;)

Dreams! Perchance to dream. Too many dreams. Not nice dreams too. What to do?

I am not bothered by not remembering my dream state. When I awake I am also not remembering my dream-less sleep. Let there be dreams. Let them do their magic in the subtle realms.

My dreams and my deep sleep and my awake world are all temporary. They all end. I witness them come and go as the never-not-known 'Self'.

I'm surprised Mugwort wasn't mentioned yet. This is a herb that (when smoked or drunk in a tea) brings on vivid, colourful and long-lasting dreams. It is described on most of the packets of it that i've seen as being an ancient herb that was used to bring on prophetic visions. It has a calming effect, smells amazing and legitimately brings on some insane dreams.

Now that I suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, dreams are things which I would rather avoid whenever possible.

Back in the day, whenever I would want to bring them back, I would use wormwood (the herb they make absinthe from) either smoked, or in a tea. Use it in moderation though, as it can be toxic in large doses.

@PoisonousHydra
If you don't mind me asking, what is PTSD from? If it's too much energy to even consider talking about then don't worry brother, but otherwise I think it can be good to open up about that shit.
Also a good technique from someone that has studied and experienced mental difficulties from a young age, it's best to not say 'I suffer' or say that it's 'my disability'. This only seals the bond between the PTSD and how you define yourself. Pain is part of life, but suffering is optional :)

@Deja Vu - check your inbox: not because I have any qualms about discussing my mental illness, but because I certainly do when it comes to thread-jacking ;).
I will read it and chat to you later on in the day when I have the time to sit down without distractions. Thanks for getting back to me and sharing :)

So, I am one of those whose dreams have significantly subsided (or at least my ability to recollect them) over the decades of daily MJ use. Except for rare exceptions I only seem to dream when I am not partaking, which is also pretty rare. I miss them, and I suspect so does my psyche. I tend to believe that like sleep deprivation, dream derivation likely leads, or at least predisposes us, to more maladies and less mental and emotional stability. I would like to see them (Dreams) return.

I'm not looking for a new psychedelic experience or a chemically enhanced dream explosion so I would think something like mugwort might well be overkill. <g> What I would really like is something that could unlock the dream experience that I still recall from before I was a pothead. Without, obviously, giving up the pot.

I'm a coffee drinker with 8 or 10 cups in the first half of the day but none later or it keeps me up, so I need something without caffeine. I am on blood thinners so I can't have green tea or anything kale(ish). Could it be that Tulsi is what I should try? And would this be a good choice (caffeine free)? I'm not seeing a downside.

@weedemon Are you still dreaming when you use it? Your experience has been helpful in my decision to try this. I may be reading too much in to what you said but it seemed like it worked for you.

So I ordered the Tulsi Tea I linked above, and will report back after I have used it a few times. Whether it works or not at least I should get a new recommended caffeine free tea to enjoy... ;)

Melatonin can cause some crazy dreams. It got to the point I couldn't take it anymore, such intense and vivid dreams.

I'm not sure if it still work or not to be honest. I still drink it. but not every night. i mix it up with ginger, peppermint, camomile, and sometimes other caffeine free herbal blends.

I have been having real issues regarding sleep as of late. but i do shift work so bare that in mind. I think it's totally fucking me up to be honest. (shift work) for example I have been on nights for a month a and a half now. and today way my first day shift or a 2 week stint. but tomorrow I have another night shift in between my 2 day shifts. it blows but I have not really got much in the way of options. im glad i'm working...

ok, rant over. sorry... just feels good to bitch sometimes. hear my violin! :D

I like to blend it with mint or others to mast the taste. it's somewhat spicy, and it leaves oily puddles on the surface of the tea. I have had a few brands and i consider the oily ones the good brands. :)

also if you like peppermint tea. try the "traditional medicinals" brand. OMG I will drink no other mint tea ever now... it blows me away how much i love it.

have any of you guys heard of a dream journal? Just keep it by your bed and in the morning or whenever you remember a dream right down ALL DETAILS IMMEDIATELY. I did this for a week and recalled like 2 or 3 vivid dreams that week Then I got stressed from school and broke my daily meditation/dream journal recording stopped ritual. Remember to date each entry which is also important to keep track of things. If you don't have a dream, thats fine, just record in the journal entry "I did not choose to remember my dreams".

Its like training yourself to remember you're dreams. The more you practice the more you recall.

Sorry for this paragraph being random strings of thought. I was just trying to recall everything I could remember. I took this from the book Modern Magick by Donald Kraig

still haven't tried the tulsi, i meant to look into it more for side effects, i think i have some at my house right now.

But one for the vivid dreams at any cost folks: nicotine patches do it for a lot of people

Well, I would like my dreams back, but not if I have to poison myself. I've had that monkey off my back for approaching 10 years (mostly) and have no interest in giving her a ride ever again...

She still calls to me whenever I am around cig smokers... Bitch.

I'm drinking some tulsi now, but may not get a chance to experience it yet. 2:45am and the lids won't stay shut!
