Thank you OF, I know it needs to be dry which was my only concern. But thanks a bunch for the info.

air drying your bud? Won't it affect anything on the actual herb? Don't want to get off topic, Just a question...

You're welcome. I find no loss air drying the ground bud (sometimes coarse ground). It only takes an hour or so if you spread it out (don't pile it up, the center stays damp), I sometimes shake the tin I use.....I like playing with it I guess?

A huge advantage to drying first is it holds down the fouling. Much more so vapes like MFLB where it's much harder to clean than Cera LL, but if you keep it dry going in it pours out again when you're done. My theory is the 'steaming' makes it mushy?

Hey Guys, Just wondering if there is a special trick to getting hold of Thermo Essence? I have been calling all morning, as well left a voicemail with sales, and the customer service department. I have also emailed them to no avail.... I really want to order the Cera LL today, as well as the Luna EO. Can anybody tell me if this is typical of customer service at TE or just a fluke? About to spend $600+ including batteries just want to know what I am in for... Can anyone also let me know if the Luna is backordered? In Stock? How long does it take TE to ship?

Hello to all,

I come back to you because I finally received my Cera.
I am unfortunately disappointed by 2 things:
- I had to pay 68€ of taxes
- I tested my Cera, it works, it warms but I almost have no vapor; in some drafts my mixture seems finished. I used it with some dry weed with leaf cartridge.
I do not understand what takes place and I am very disappointed for the moment by my purchase which of the blow returns in expensively.
Can be can use me?
Manage you to see big drafts of vapors (with the weed) comparable to those of the electronic cigarettes?
Thank you

1st thing i would do is buy a dmm if you dont already have one. Although if its a brand new cartridge it shouldnt be out of spec unless you bought it used...

Could be batteries, what kind are you using? Are they new?

If that checks out then that leaves technique most likely since it seems to be working (even though your not getting vapor).

First check the core to get an idea how it works. Pressing the button, the core should glow fully in about 20-30 seconds. This is the amount of time you need to preheat without inhaling to build up the heat.

Once you figure that out, load it up, preheat for the amount of time needed, and do a test puff. Light and slow. You should see some vapor. If so continue to use it. If not preheat it for another ten seconds or so and do another test puff...

If your continually using it you should only need to preheat at first. The longer you wait inbetween hits the longer you have to preheat for subsequent hits.

Can the cera produce clouds, sure...buy they are definitely not as dense as say the cera EO or other ecigs/pens...

Side note: after getting issues with Firefly worked out, I really wish the cera and FF could have a baby it would be the perfect LL vape. Convection, Shorter heat up time, stays clean, doesnt smell and produces clouds...get on it someone!

First off, hello, welcome to the Forum, sorry you're having troubles. What you're experiencing is, as the poster above indicates, no doubt a technique problem. Cera takes skill and understanding on the part of the operator, but it can produce thick vapor very well. Keep it dry, grind it fine, pack it medium firm. Heat it fully (until you know the core is glowing full bright (maybe 4 or 5 seconds on fresh battery, 20 when weak)). Watch the core though an empty bowl some to get a feel for how the heat builds. It needs to be fully hot before you start to draw, but waiting past that only runs the battery down and makes the Cera hotter.

When it's fully hot (step 1), do the long, slow draws (say 20 seconds to a lung full) to transfer heat to the herb by hot air. When you begin to taste (and feel hot, damp air) puff some out of your mouth. Unless it's quite thick (like puffing on a cigar), keep pulling. When you finally get a solid 'test puff' that's the end of step 2, immediately exhale any vapor you have (weak hit at best) and hit it strongly, it's ready to go. If you've done it right, the harder you pull the more hot air into the herb, the more vapor. Don't settle for weak hits, build the heat for strong ones in step 3 (after the solid test puff).

Do the 3 steps, one at a time. Don't cheat. Once you get the skills you can easily handle the heat, but until then the 3 steps will help you learn and enjoy your Cera.

Regards

"Yeah, but...."

Isn't FF a conduction vape like MFLB, Palm and FalshVape? I've never seen one, but if it's conduction that's going to make it harder to mate them up.......

Quite wrong, my friend. FireFly is a convection vape. I think you'll be quite pleased looking over the thread. There's some full-tear-down pics in there.

Thanks, it makes more sense now. It's more of a micro controller driven, repackaged Cera with smaller battery then? No temperature control that I can see, but I'd guess compensation for sagging battery? That is it seems the user controls the heat really? Unlike say Solo or Ascent.

That explains the 'I love the taste' (it shares advantages with Solo, Cera, Bender and those guys there) and also the short battery life. Custom battery, right? Brings up cost and charging. I didn't see that in the few minutes I read the thread, will have to go back and spend more time.

Interesting little vape, be fun to see how it plays out.

Thanks.

I believe it has a temp controller. Well kind of. Its max temp is 400F i believe...which i also believe it reaches almost instantly...no real preheating or anything required

Compared to cera, it produces faster and doesnt require as much technique...battery is a 7.4v and is 700-750mah (dont have it on me atm) but it gives me about 4-5 bowls which is about what i got out of cera... The only downsides i have is it doesnt clean up as easy. With cera while it was still warm all i had to do was wipe it down with a napkin or cloth. And no lingering smell left over... FF requires Iso and even after a thorough cleaning theres a lingering abv smell that i find impossible to get rid of...

Interesting, thanks for the additional information. While I don't see any evidence of a temperature controller (no obvious temperature sensor) the 400F maximum temperature is 'the other way' to heat the air I guess. Rather than the heat core idea used in Cera (TV and Evolution as well) is maybe 1500F? So it takes much longer to make temperature (as you cite) and depends on technique to get there. This (faster heat up time) probably saves a fair bit of power (since the battery capacity is about 2/3 or even half that on Cera, about what T1 is.....say 1/3 of Solo?).

The big advantage of the thermal core idea is that once the heat is built up you can tap it very fast so you can hit basically as hard as you want without stopping the vaping for lack of temperature. Is FF like this, that is if you hit real hard do you 'overrun' the available heat like in say Ascent? We pay (battery wise) for this capacity in TV products, I wonder how important that is here.

There seems to be a lot of SS in the vapor path, kind of a taboo around here, yet it compares 'all glass vapor path' wise with Cera? That's interesting to me as well. I wonder how strong the purist's case is?

Thanks for the information. Cera and FF do seem to have a fair bit in common.....and some differences. More choices, most cool.

Hi,

I repeat, my Cera is quite new, I have just received it with 4 batteries.
I have just redone the tests and here is the result:

1) The oil cartridge works perfectly, I do not need to warm a lot to have vapor so no problem !!
2) The leafe cartridge has herb warm, blushes but I do not obtain vapor by warming during 5 minutes. I just have a light taste of herb at the beginning but no vapor and in 4 drafts I do not have taste anymore and always any vapor.
Where from comes the problem knowing that I understood well how it works with the oil so similar with the herb????
Can i use the oil cartridge with herb otherwise?

Im a little disappointed, oil works very welle but nothing with herbe! HELP ME HELP ME !!
Thanks

Still sounfd like user error. The oil and herb cartridges function quite differently. Just because you have the hang of the oil cartridge (which requires little to no technique except for maybe loading it) does not mean you know what your doing with LL. It is a different beast and requires patience and technique. Not 5 minutes worth though. You should be getting vapor in 30 seconds or less.

Follow OFs technique posted a few posts up and if that doesnt work get a digital multimeter and test out the cartridge

You can test it even easier than that I think. Just look down into the core through the vent holes in the bottom of the bowl as you apply power. With a fresh battery, it should clearly glow in a few seconds and reach saturation (maximum temperature, where you loose the definition of individual coils in the general 'hot all over' glow. You can also see this glow through the body material in a dark room.

No meter needed, really?

I disagree. My LL that i was having problems with a few months ago, detailed somewhere in the thread, the core glowed to full saturation in a reasonable amount of time, but i could not get good vapor out of it until the unit was too hot to use.

Sent everything back thinking it might be a battery or switch issue...Turned out the LL cart was out of spec

I can get plenty of vapor from my ll but it is not worth the effort IMO. Hell I can get the EO darn hot in a single session so two batteries worth of ll can get the entire unit ridiculously hot. Does it do its job, yes, do I care to deal with the heat, no.

Still wondering if anybody has had any good experience with the liquid carts. Looking to get the luna version but lack of users worries me. Been asking this question for 6 months about Cera and now the new and improved version of Luna, please somebody must have tried it.

"Yes, but".....this is a brand new unit. The chances it's degraded (as opposed to a hard failure likely to be found with a meter) is high. You weren't able to find the trouble with a meter were you? I doubt he would either.

You were still saturating, just at a lower level, sub par as it were. My assumption (I know.....) is that it was on spec when shipped and hasn't had time to degrade any. It works or it doesn't. No 'not as hot as it should be'?

I just don't see any advantage to a meter at this point.

Okay, touche...

I didnt have a meter when i had the issue so i never checked. I was just told that the LL was out of spec by zeki when i asked of the switch or the body was the problem.

I bought one after...

Thanks for the technique post. This sounds promising! I recently traded for this thing and had a pretty decent session with it out of the gate about a week ago. But I'm a flowers only guy, so I don't know how much I will use it. I haven't used it since the first time only because the button was a pain in the ass to hold in and use at the same time. You got any suggestions here or am I destined to contort to use it?

No suggestions really. Its awkward at first, but you dont even really notice it after you use it for a few weeks. I mainly use my middle finger, sometimes index finger and have no problems using it. I dont even mind the awkward placement of the switch anymore.

That being said the luna switch would be a great option whenever it becomes available to upgrade

Its the same problème for me.
The cartridge warms directly, it blushes with no problem but I tried by warming a few seconds, no vapor, by warming several minutes no vapor. The mouthpiece becomes so hot that I cant use it any more but I never have a vapor.
I looked at several videos to see the method and it is good what I'm doing. I dt see where come from the problem;
Have you an idea? Is what that is a problem of manufacturing? Anybody else has the same problem?I think i will contact Thermovape.

Thanks

I also would like to know if all your ceras, when you shake your Cera a little, do you hear the battery which moves because my cera does not seem to have the battery completely propped up without moving inside?? Maybe its the problème??? Thanks
