I would expect heftier fines for taking it back through the airport - especially nowadays. Interstate transportation is usually a pretty serious offense.

I would guess that if you board in Denver without being caught and make it back to your home state,
like MN, and they catch you there, you would be in deep trouble.
At our airport, they occasionally have dogs sniffing around....

My understanding is the TSA is not looking for drugs; however, if they find them, they just turn you over to whatever Local Law Enforcement jurisdiction you are in. International airports have US Boarder Guards, and they are the ones with dogs. They check international flights. I've read that domestic flights are not often dog-checked. It's too cost prohibitive. I don't know. I can't imagine should your goodies not have been found in Denver on the way home, then you will probably not be scrutinized at home base (they hurry so to get the bags out to the carousels).

But, to answer your question, if they found it somehow back in your home state, they would turn you over to local law enforcement, and whatever the law in home state prevails.

I know someone that is a "mobile information person" at our airport. They walk around and answer passenger questions.
They regularly see sniffer dogs just walking around the airport. Knowing that, I'd be very paranoid about bringing in MJ in checked baggage or carryon.
You probably would not get caught but.....

"Call off the events, or risk violating state and city laws barring public pot smoking and consumption of edible marijuana."

You would think the separate smoking lounge would be private enough.

Perhaps they could start a pro-cannabis symphonic booster club,
complete with "members-only" events so they wouldn't be public

Gotta give it up for Governor Hickenlooper. Even though he "hates the experiment", he has said he will "respect the will of the people."

Denver International Airport is suffering through one of its busiest weeks of the year as Thanksgiving travelers jam the ticket and security lines, baggage claims and cab stands, and the restaurants and souvenir shops. And while their suitcases may be full of warm sweaters, early holiday presents and leftover pie, travelers won't be able to find many last-minute marijuana-themed souvenirs while they're waiting for a delayed flight.

And soon, DIA may not allow the sale of any pot-themed merchandise at all.

Folks will just buy their pot flops at the stores before they leave for the airport. It said that you could buy a shot glass with an emblem of the Colorado flag on it. Come on people.
