Guys a little help please...what size screen is that in the FF, been using the arizer basket and I lost my old screens. Wanna play around with just using bottom screen. I think it is 1/8th but not sure.

Isn't it 5/8''?
I belive @steama is right in that it is a proprietary size.

Hmmm? Just like Apple products...proprietary connectors, etc. ...pretty sneaky!

I swapped out the FF screen for a 1/2" SS screen on the bottom and won't look back. I have absolutely no issues with goodies making it into the unit as the black seal attached around the perimeter of the oven bottom (you can't see it unless you take it apart) keeps most everything out. Actually, I found that the FF screen wedged under the lip only really trapped small particles.

It's easy enough to take off the steel plate and blow out any trapped particles.

Just my experience, anyway.

Hi guys,
I'm done waiting for the FF to come in Europe. Seems it won't come here before long.
So, I'd like to have your opinion on the MFLB ( as I want to be free about my vaping timing, and don't want to have 'sessions' ). What do you think about it? Anything else better?( except the FF of course :) ).

Why don't you ask one of our friends from the states around here ship one for you at wherever you are? A FF I mean… A MFLB has so many drawbacks compared to the FF I am not even getting into this! Not even close. Or just get a Lotus as @steama said if the two hand operation is a no-issue for you and don't mind some clicking and hissing from the lighter. Best vape ever… :smug:

Guys? Any cheap source for screens? Will 5/8" ones fit inside the o-ring at the bottom of the bowl? @WildChild? Any pic of how the 1/2" fits in the bowl?

EDIT: nevermind! Just did some search in the thread… I'll try the 1/2" ones and see how it goes? Any good source for those? PV?

Go to brasspipescreens.com

They sell SS too, of course...and cheap! :)

Good luck!

Thank you @genericandorwittyusername! Very nice pics, very nice to see under the hood. Gives me a couple ideas...

Well I've really been enjoying this vape for a bit now. Here is just one way I love to use it... :worms:

edit: I agree with the talk about the thermal mass. The FF does seem work best when fully warmed up. I also feel this heater is powerful, and when utilized with a narrower chamber, thermal mass does not need to be reached to achieve large pulls from the start.
More to come
Great video! Can u tell me the name of that song? And who sings it? Thanks

Re: the MFLB. It's like riding a horse as opposed to a carriage, or even an automobile. That said, a horse doesn't require much, if you can hold the reins and keep it from bolting, and it's a very simple and compact vape. I have one, don't use it much.

I would not replace any vape with another, as they have different virtues. A Solo is probably the most simple to operate, and will vape from low to mid-high temps, has quite good flavor at the lower temps, but it's not stealthy. The Pax cooks the herb continuously, and doesn't have fantastic flavor. But it's the most stealthy. The FireFly takes some getting used to, runs a little cooler, but has the best flavor. It's moderately stealthy, sits between the Pax and the Solo. It looks more like an expensive lighter or phone, so it can be tried in public in a pinch, I do it, but then again I'm certified CA Medical. But because of that, I nibble it in public all the time, and I can tell you people don't pay attention to the FireFly, it looks like something that belongs in your hand, like an expensive something, chrome trim, lovely metallic dark grey paint job, and the vapor can be kept subtle with a little technique on the button and the drag. The Pax is smaller and easier to conceal, but the vapor seems harder to regulate because the oven is ON.

Oh, one more thing. Economy.

A MFLB, in the hands of a seasoned user, can be very economical, but also can waste herb if you aren't. The herb needs to be very finely ground.

The Pax almost demands a full oven to work well, so for a light vaper it wastes herb.

The Solo can be quite economical if you add a little spacer screen in the glass stem so you can pack finely ground herb just in the tip. A minimum load might be 0.1g. Fine grind is best on the Solo as well, but not as critical as on the MFLB.

The FireFly is a natural with tiny pinches, say even 0.05g. No need for fine grinding or an additional screen, no need to mess with the bottom screen. Just roughly shred the herb by fingers, close the lid and then let it fly around in the bowl as you vape. The vapor is coolest and tastiest on the FF, as the vapor is cooled in the two stainless steel channels under the lid. Clever design.

As a shared device the MFLB is usable but tricky. Not very practical.

The FireFly doesn't share well at all, even if you load 0.2g, because you regulate it intuitively for yourself.

The Pax can be shared in a pinch, YMMV.

The Solo rules for easy group zonk.

It's nice to have two FF's I can jog between, and especially nice to have three batteries and two chargers...no more schlepping my one charger from bedroom to living room every day. With any luck, both FF's will be problem free for the forseeable future.

I just bought another FireFly (silver to complement my dark grey one), as well as an extra battery and external charger. It is nice having another charging option, especially one that is more stealthy than leaving a FireFly laying around plugged in :)

I was hoping to compare performance, required technique, extraction levels, etc... between the two but so far I have been "disappointed" (not really).

So far my new silver FireFly is operating exactly like my dark grey unit. I use the same technique and get the same results with the same heat, flavor, extraction, etc... I honestly don't think I could tell the difference in the dark.

In actuality this is the best result I could hope for!

I got some amazing results from my FF today! And got my sessions out of one charge to 5! :D It's getting better and better. Haven't touched My Lotus for a couple of days even if I get bigger and tastier clouds from it. The FF gives me such an easy session and cleans so easily with just a wipe from a small piece of tissue paper for the window and a blow in the bowl... It very successfully gets out of the way of what you are doing... Vaporizing! It becomes invisible while using it, it becomes an extension of your hand. Much thought has gone into its design for sure. 5 years if I can recall? Wow! Just wow! :luv: :nod:

I am thinking of trying aromatic pipe tobacco in there as they "recommend" in their FAQ... Anyone tried some?

Tried some? Dude, I used to smoke a pipe. I still have some nice ones. I would have loaded the FireFly with a lovely aged Cavendish. And an occasional cigar. And 2 packs a day o' Marlboros. I was lucky that the day I got an e-cig I realized this was it, and haven't smoked since. If you're not a smoker, @natural farmer, maybe best to just walk a wide berth on the tobacco? I've really avoided all forms of tobacco since, it's been like 4 years, not because it's disgusting or evil, on the contrary it's very enchanting and VERY hard to say no to. Glad my weakie 8mg nicotine VG juice is an acceptable substitute.

And your vaporizer may retain the smell ;-)

The truth is I need something to sip at, through the FF, so I introduce it as an electronic pipe to groups of people, so I don't get second looks when I bust it out and it's full of my favourite herb... It will be just for a few times per month. Is Cavendish a nice aromatic choice? Better be something light. Sisha mixtures maybe? Those wet stones with the different flavours?
The FF is really easy to clean I believe... Anyway I need something tasty that gives lots of vapours for when I can't put my special herbs in there...

Thnaks for your answers. MLFB is that bad? I searched the lotus, haven't found it in my country :( And i'm not very found of butane stuff to be honest. But well, still thinking about it if it's worth it. What about the hammer? it seems to be close to the lotus.

Seriously, go to brasspipescreens.com. You can buy any size and get 100 for about $7!

Just my :2c: worth.....!

And no, I have no affiliation with them at all. Just like saving $

I can now get my ABV very dark with less button presses. The FF gets better and better for me.

But won't the oversized 1/2'' fit better? I like the fact that they go under the lid actually. Doesn't the 1/2'' ones fall when you tap the load out?

Yes, the 1/2" screens sit a bit loose in the bowl for sure. Doesn't bother me, but it might bother some.

You can get all different sizes of screens at the place I suggested. However, if the FF screen size truly is proprietary, you may not be able to get the exact size. I believe someone did a FF screen measurement earlier in the thread...was it between 1/2" and 5/8"?

MAYBE, if you contact them they have the ability to get FF-sized screens?

I am thinking of getting the 5/8 and since I am not afraid to open the FF just put it against the steel plate under the oring.
