How would one discern the CBD levels by looking through a microscope?
... analyzing buds under a microscope AND asking for high CBD strain

Didn't meant that someone could have that skill. That's why I wrote " and ".. If I would mean that, I would use some other way. My mistake probably, cause English isn't my mother tongue... ;)

When I was talking about microscope it is because of turk's location, where I suppose there are plenty of nice dispensaries where you can analyze the bud and choose the right trichs colour for your needs (as if you were going to harvest for you).
And CBD strain advice is simply because of the medicinal value.

But thanks to your question, finally I think that darker or amber trichs means THC degradation ? Or presence of other cannabinoids ? (cbd, cbn,...?) Well.. Let me know ? So that could mean that technically you can judge the presence of cannabinoids while looking at the colour of the glands ? Not in a scientific proportion, for sure. This is only supposition on what I've red here and somewhere else, a small research would clear that. I think a too early hybrid strain from example, would benefit much of what peoples research if they prefer indica known qualities ? In the same time they should harvest a sativa dominant not too early, and with amber trichomes to not get the high making them feel uncomfortable.

@turk Let us know how does it work with which strains. This topic could be nice with the variety some of you are having access ! A kind of topic like the "Stash picture" one, but dedicated to indica or INDI hybrid dominant.

Peace

Some Hindu Kush (whatever cross it is ? ) I could get

I had no idea that the color of trichs (do they even have a color?), would be an indication of any kind of cannabinoid profile.

Maybe some high indica hybrid : like 30% sativa ?
Also they are some "sativa dominant" strains, which they claim to be working nicely against anxiety, or doesn’t induce much of it.
I don't know if this is relevant.
Seeing where you are situated, analyzing buds under a microscope and asking for high CBD strain wouldn't be too difficult ? If you need AM strain for pain, I guess high CBD strain would be nice : not too much psychoactive while providing the deal for the pain.

I will take a look at the ones I have see if I can find something around that range. The ones from home are lab tested so ive mainly been looking at those %'s but I will go back and check their linage further. In the AM times I mainly need nausea with some pain relief so im trying to find balance. My heart has been an issue but I had a repeat EKG yesterday. My normal rhythm is low so anything that speed sit up even within normal range I feel it. For me racing is between 65 - 95 beats, that's where I feel the fluttering an tightness.

...I agree a hybrid with indica dominant will address that...me... I've done so much indica that now I can resist "couch lock " if I want...

Good to know I may outgrow couch lock.

....in San Francisco many dispensaries will display the chemical breakdown of their meds on the label (if pre-packadged) or Jar.....this is not true with all dispensaries but if it is important to you, cou can certainly find dispensaries that will accomadate....so no microscope necessary...:)

My main home dispensary is lab tested. When im traveling though I don't have a lab tested one yet.

One of the reasons I vape is lifelong insomnia, and indica couch-lock seems to affect me most when I haven't had anything to vape/dab for a while. When I do pick it up again, this effect is the most pronounced and I can sleep for a solid couple of days if necessary to catch up.
The trick is to keep my tolerance low enough so It will continue to put me to sleep (so much better than pills), but I always fail at this so I don't mind running out on occasion.

Im hoping to feel up to experimenting tonight with one of my full indicas. It would be great to spend a fea days catching up on sleep so im not so deprived when I try to change my schedule to something closer to "normal".

ETA: Looks like im going for querkle tonight if im up for it.

I had no idea that the color of trichs (do they even have a color?), would be an indication of any kind of cannabinoid profile.

kinda. Trichs start totally clear, then get cloudy, then color. A clear trich is all head high, no legs. Cloudy is a good mix of head, body, legs. Discoloration is a sign of degradation (thc to thca) - sleepy time meds. A grower can somewhat determine the type of meds by when harvested. For example an early harvest for daytime meds and a late harvest for nighttime meds. I typically harvest when just a few trichs amber. Most non commercial growers harvest at 10%-50% ambering, most commercial growers harvest as late as they possibly can.

Under a scope you can sometimes see that all the glandular heads of a trich (where the stuff you want is) are all gone (degradation). Unfortunately, imo, the vegetation of a plant is at its height (smell/flavor/taste/appearance) just slightly past when the trichs are at their peak. The life of a trich is a bell curve - there is a peak, after which only degradation is possible. This is 1 reason why some of the best looking sacks suck sometimes.

The window of harvest is usually considered to be from when the stalk is 3x as long as the head is round (early) to when there is 30% ambering (late). I've had strains (rarely) where the trichs will shatter before they ever get ambered. Most trichs amber. W/ certain strains, I've seen pink, red and purple trichs. I recommend all serious partakers to invest in a good 30x illuminated microscope ($20). Not only will it help match meds to needs, it's hella cool looking.

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
For Indica / Indica doms I prefer to move them to the 48hr dark room when the trichs reach 10% amber. They usually harvest dried at 30% amber that way.

Sativa / Sativa doms I move into the darkroom at 50% cloudy, and they'll usually finish at less than 5% amber dried.

Same here: all about Sativa in the youth, nowadays my only favorite Sativa is my cat, but regarding mj me and my nerves prefer indica dominant strains.

If it was about to find the best compromise between quality and high yield: what would your favorite Indi be?

(btw: not a big fan of the Starbucks-like branding nowadays..)

Another night another few hits of Querkle. I planned better this time took 3 hits close together about 2 hours before I want to be asleep. We shall see if that goes according to plan or not but I can hope. Saw that one of the dispensaries here has romulan on sale which ive hear is a "knock me out" strain to try. They also have Big Bud which I want to get since ive never seen it back home.

I knew a girl named Sativa (no shit)..that's where the idea came from ;)

Pretty common over here and if its Sensi's it's quite good, but not top-shelf

Hahaha cool. I live near a large hippie/earthy population so ive heard some interesting names but no one named sativa. Ah ok is sensi a strain variation or dispensary? I am visiting family so id be going out to Homeland CA for mine

Wow thank you everyone for such an informative thread.
I live in a state with a few MMJ dispensaries but the general population cannot use.

The last time I picked up it was a oz of really potent sour diesel. The shit does funny things to my front lobes. I feel like the front of my brain is tingling. However, It keeps me up all night.

A terrible problem to have when I vape almost exclusively at night FOR sleep. It's actually turned into such a problem the only way I can go to be did by smoking a spliff ( and I hate smoking)

I know I'm stuck with a sativa but for you indica lovers anyone got any tips?

Ps: Nothing like OG Tahoe before bed! :)

When he say Sensi he is talking about Sensi Seeds, the seed bank, I guess. Unfortunately merkel Land doesn't have any dispensaries ;). So it is popular for growing it for the ease and the result it gives (good production), thus the name..
Purple kush seems a nice one too, in the indi dominant hybrid kind...

Switch to an indica for better sleep, that's my tip !

Seriously, some sites (Leafly) call it sativa, some call it a hybrid.
From one of the hybrid reviewers, you might try smoking more at bedtime:

"Effects: When smoked right, you should have have a very strong head and upper body buzz.
Too much and you might have trouble walking and fall asleep."

To all you folks in so cal sorry about those earthquakes!

Barely even felt them where we are. We have family and friends in other states who freak out when they heard we had an earthquake but to us taffic is more of a hassle lol. We haven't had a big one in our area since Northridge in the early 90's. Thank you for the thoughts though im sure people who were closer to the center felt it more.

Living in a non-legal, non-medical, non-decrim state, I don't really get any choice. My guy has sativas 95% of the time, so I don't really get to the chance to buy indica (which I really love!). I'm very thankful I at least have "a guy" to go to, as I'm 30 years old, and finding contacts is pretty difficult.

If I want the "indica experience" I'll first vape the herb at about 200c and later that night I'll revape the same stuff up to about 225c for a more stony feeling. Works pretty well but its just not exactly the same.
