Well, I have unfortunate news, we were toking with the evo realistically for about 10 hours. It probably went through 4 complete hot cold cycles. I could hear it crackling as it cooled down but didn't think much of it. However after the last use I took out the ELB and inverted it and a small shard of really hot glass fell out, I'm now hesitant to keep using it, I can't see anything wrong with the bamboo but I'm hoping it doesn't need sent back. . . This has been quite a tease.

Sorry to hear.

Loving the EVO. Owned a used cloud for about a week then my wife surprised me for our anniversary with the EVO. It is even better than the cloud. Sold that to a friend and now I am in delicious vapor heaven with a showercap hydratube on the way. Today is a good day. Tomorrow will be even better when the showercap arrives...

See where I'm the opposite I haven't used it in a bong/bubbler yet just the hydratube. I need to get a cloud buddy.

It is great with any Mobius piece, or any quality piece for that matter. I have never used a cloud buddy, I just turn it upside down on the joint. Is the point of the cloud buddy to provide more distance between your face and the unit? Because I don't really see the point otherwise.

A cloud buddy is a must for sure. Right now I use mine with the enano and soon the evo. It's also easy to put cotton near the bottom of the male joint ,all the vapor you create will run through this cotton eventually turning it a dark honey color full of resinous joy and thick clouds I might add:smug:

The distance isn't the main point of the cloudbuddy.
edit: I guess it does say that on their website, but thats just my opinion

One of the main cloudbuddy advantage is that you can avoid picking up the EVO, say eight different times during a session to clear the vapor. The vaporizer remains stable and motionless when you clear it using the cloudbuddy.

It's especially useful if you want to use the cloud with newbies a lot. It's easier to pick up a little GonG stopper than it is to detach a hot, asymmetrically-heavy, glass vaporizer.

I like using the Cloud Buddy...but, my main reason for choosing it instead of sticking the EVO straight into my Ion is if it get's really stuck. I'd rather have to break a CB to get my EVO free than my precious Ion. I'm probably being paranoid, but I can't help myself. Love the EVO & Ion too much to risk it.

I never thought of that, I am too afraid to let my evo sit on the joint unsupported so i am not sure if it would benefit me too much. I do see now the huge benefit this could have with newbies using the evo, though that is not really an issue with me. Thanks for explaining it, I was confused about its uses.

Well with the bong I have the spacing between the bowl joint and the tube (downstemless bong) is so small that I can't fit the EVO in the bong.

That sucks, at least it is easily fixable with some sort of adapter.

See now this is kind of what I was thinking. I am getting my nail too hot and the EVO is giving me a true vaporized oil hit! Because I felt high off of it? I just think I need the concentrate adapter so I can do even bigger dabs!!!
Dude, I think you've been hangin' with @ataxian too much ;)

Oh, and I, too, have been working with lower-temp dabs, generally using my Nano... I get similar results as with flowers, though of course, quite concentrated.

With my concentrates it's getting them completely gone but it isn't that big of a cloud?

This should have been a lung busting dab?

Not just 1 big cloud, that should be 15 minutes of ~ 4-5 big hits. I did about that exact amount of GSC oil last night, but wrapped in cotton. I got at least 5 hits before I just took out the ELB. I could have gone another 3-4 hits to milk the cotton dry.

The net/net of it was that I believe that in a few years, there will be a new philosophy on dabbing. Just like vaping with flowers has changed throughout the years, I believe that will happen in the concentrates area. Everyone wants to see the whitewall, but is the whitewall the most effective way? More testing to be done!

I would think there are many moving parts here
  • quality/type of concentrate
  • desired medicinal effect
  • preferred delivery method (instant or gradual)
  • spectrum riders
  • sippers
  • all day medicators
  • tasters
  • etc...
But in terms of verification, turbo mode on the evo, w/ a concentrate + cotton, I get whitewalls 95% of the time for high quality concentrates, and I always have residual.

Why would I always have residuals? Well if the concentrate is super-potent,(I had a ~70% THC dutch crunch BHO) the other 30% won't just vanish, it has to either get vaped too, or more likely a mix of non actives getting vaped, and a bunch of waste remaining (in my case, on the cotton) or drip down.

Since it isn't being combusted, matter is not being converted into energy. (disclaimer, I am not a physical chemist) Don't forget the old boys saying "The solution to pollution is dilution". Ergo, any drip down etc... may not be visible with all the water present.

When we cranked up the heat and used the concentrates attachment, he made a face about how opaque the vapor was when I thought he was going to be super impressed.

Thanks for the update on the concentrate attachment! Sounds like it's well on it's way to being a nail replacement!

Been taking another look at my evo this morning now that it is cold, another small shard of glass fell out of the bamboo. I'm quite curious as to the bamboo's internal structure as I'm hoping that this isn't some of the main wall that's broken and maybe one of the bits that makes the turbulence chambery bits. That would be ideal because the thought of having to use my DBV is already incredibly grim.
As much as I eyeball the bamboo I just cannot see any obvious cracks or fractures.

Anyone got any advice on how I could test to see if this thing is still functional?

I would try blocking the bottom of the bamboo with your finger and blow gently into the top of it.
If air escapes your bamboo is cracked/broken and needs replacing.

Otherwise turn the unit on at the min temp and look inside the bamboo and try and see if you can see any damage.

Not a bad shout, when I blocked it and blew into it the air severely escaped. That is an absolute nightmare. Now back to waiting to hear back from support. . .

Cloudy...
It seems like another international unit arrived!

Won't be able to try it till this night after work! Hope everything is ok and it works perfectly (like my Cloud+ still working strong after one year of abuse!) because in tuesday I will fly out to live in Dublin and I won't be able to resend it because I don't take the EVO with me. I'm going to do a t-break till I found a job and a new house... In fact I don't take any vapes with me.

Are there any FC members/Cloud owners in Dublin? It would be nice to meet them when I'm there, I go there with my gf and we don't know more people there :\

Thanks for the extras VXL team!!

Great Scott!
Evo is sent out for repair. I have to say the customer support has been great as expected. Very pleasant to deal with.

So it got sent back because even on the hottest temp for 20 min the ABV was fairly light. Are most people getting combustion past a certain temp on the dial? I don't know what to expect really on the repaired one, but I do know that if my portable vape is able to extract darker than the evo on max temp...something was wrong. No biggie they will get me squared away I'm sure.

Cloudy...
I can't believe this...Just opened my Evo, take out the caps and the botom one is full of glass powder so the bamboo is broken...Seriously? I didn't even had the chance to try it and now I have to resend it and spend more money. I hope VXL take care of the shipment, because it was a DOA unit.

And yes, I tried blowing and the bamboo is totally broken :bang:

NOOOOO!
I am still waiting for a single delivered intl unit reported to work correctly.
So far 3 intl EVOs down. This is frustrating. My EVO is now waiting for me in customs and so far my excitements is dying off with all these reports.
This is a nightmare and I want to wake up.
