Tastier portable vaporizers?

I started to vape in January 2013 (so I'm a newbie) and I owned several portable vaporizer and I want to speak about their taste, I just speak about battery powered vapes, not flames powered.

The master of the better in all categories is the Minivap (but I only get the single version not the portable one, also I can't put in my portables vapes)

IMHO the better taste is with the Thermovape evolution (and T1) but it's a PIA to use....
Just behind it there is the FW V1, it produce intense taste during the first half session
After there is the MFLB and FV, taste stay pretty nice for the 4 or 5 first hits but it's not my cup of tea...
At the end you can find the INH Xp and the Pax, they taste good only for the 2 or 3 first hits, if you keep the t° down taste is better (but everybody knows how it's difficult to don't turn the button up!

This is just my opinion and i don't try many of the better vapes of the market (FF, Ascent, Persei+bender,...) so I'm waiting YOURS OPINIONS about the vape you prefer for its taste (and the worst)

I'm thinking the FF is famous for its taste....

Well my latest Solo that's a 2014 run is the best tasting portable I've used, and I'd attribute it to the large bowl and ability to release a lot of high density vapor at once with heat soaking the bowl. But this is my fourth solo, my first one I warrantied for a chipping ceramic bowl, then sold the second one because of fart taste to a friend who 'couldn't taste it'. I bought a third one in January, but it didn't get quite hot enough, would only get a tan output not dark brown. I planned on sending it back for warranty but ended up buying a second solo instead and declaring it the low temp solo. This new Solo is perfect.

Better than my flashvape, MFLB, or previous solos or my friends pax. I think it could only be topped by all glass torch vaporizers which you didn't want to count in this. I used to have a solo years back that had a fart taste, but this new one is splendid the unit/oven smell almost absolutely neutral. More flavour than my vg/mflb/fvs2 because of vapor density and the qualities of the glass draw stem for sure. I really like the taste signature of vaporizers that use conduction and convection, but mostly convection, such as the solo or sublimator. Not so much the ones that are mostly conduction like the pax or mflb. So far a 'good' solo seems to be my favorite portable for flavour/vapor density. And by that I mean one that runs at a high temp, has no taste from factory residues or whatever causes it, and has a 'good' glass stem that gets lots of conduction because it's very close in tolerance to the oven. When you luck out on all these factors, the Solo can deliver flavour because it can deliver a lot at once, higher vapor density that other mentioned portables I've tried. I am interested in trying a firefly, as a lot of people love 'pure convection', but I've been developing a sweet spot for the mostly convection and conduction mix vaporizers.

I just started vaping with an el-cheapo pen and right away
knew, this is IT.
I was thinking Arizer Solo or FF and then decided to splurge.
Ordered the miniVAP but dealer is out of silver so on hold. They do
have black so thinking about taking that.

My cera LL has the best tasting vapor initially of any portable I've tried but my solo tends to retain better flavor throughout the bowl.

Best one I've tried is my ascent, but I haven't tried a solo or firefly.

IMHO the MV is the better but is not really portable (with battery it's 3 x bigger than my nano and with wall adaptater 2 x bigger), the taste is incredible and you never get the "pop corn" taste, taste becomes less intense but it still here, when the taste disappear there is no more steam, the bowl is fully vaped.

I like it dry for the better taste and through water for the bigger clouds (look at Roger D vids) and it performs very well in the 2 worlds.

I prefer the small basket with the silicone cap, it helps to keep the heat where you want and to keep the unit clean, use small amount (less than 0.1), really dry and fine grinded.

Where this unit is not the better is for concentrates but mine is actually upgrading at Hermès Medical, I hope they found a way to handle concentrates in the Minivap, I'll tell you that when my unit will come back at home!
And remenber the MV is a vape build to be safe for your health as main idea.

Thanks for the details on the miniVAP.

Being bigger than true portables is ok as I've got my crappy vaping pen for that.
I'll probably always use dry and had planned to try the small basket with very small loads
as it seems to only take the tiniest amount to help my back and muscle pain. I haven't had
any in 25 years and these new strains seem 10X stronger.
I wonder what mods the factory will make, something like a hotter heat range or what.
Can't wait to try it.

Ok for the Ascent, somebody can compare it with the FW(v1 or 2)? which is the tastier of my own portables (I don't speak about the TV evo since it's so difficult to use imo)

Please forgive my ignorance. What does "tasty," as in "tastier vaporizers," mean? What physical, chemical and/or engineering aspects make a vaporizer "tasty" or not?

Is "tasty" really the lack of having, contributing, any taste? [I presume no one wants a vaporizer that actually contributes its own taste]. Is it all about massive delivery of more terpenes and other aromatics? This would suggest higher heating of larger amounts, with higher vapor concentration, and a shorter delivery path [which could be on the wasteful side].

Or is "tasty" more complex, such as related to vapor/inhalation volume and velocity, particle composition, size, concentration, temperature, etc.? For example, does cooling and water filtration decrease or increase "taste?"

To me, a tastier vaporizer is one that vaporizes the herb in the most accurate manner (superb temp control) and then delivers it without adding any external tastes (the true flavor of the superior grade herb comes thru to the user).
Some likely clues that it will do so are;
1. convection heat as conduction more likely to fry the herb
2. shortest vapor path so less condenses/ is lost
3. quality materials in vaporizer that add no taste

You mentioned massive delivery, higher heating, larger amounts, higher vape conc, etc and these would deliver "more taste" but I want "tastier vape/ better taste", not more and bigger hits. An experience where I love the taste on the inhale/ taste on the exhale/ the overall experience. NOT, that was a f#cking huge hit I just took and then coughed for 5 minutes. I slowly enjoy small hits and am fine seeing no vapor when exhaling.
Others look for a very different experience.

Some vaporizers over bake the herb, so therefore the vapor is harsh and burnt tasting. So yes the vaporizer contributes to the taste of the herb. The best vaporizers allow you to actually taste the flavor of the herb.

You may lose a little taste from water filtration, but you can enjoy your herb at a higher temp. Get a more intense dose of medication. It helps with those suffering from pain.

Regarding my question, "What physical, chemical and/or engineering aspects make a vaporizer "tasty" or not?," several people have responded citing rather generic desired characteristics of convection vaporizers, such as accurate temperature control, short vapor path, not overbaking, etc. But can anyone more address the chemical and physical aspects that define "tastier" or "tastier"? For example, how would a vaporizer be designed to be optimally "tasty?" What parameters might be quantified/measured to assess how "tasty" a vaporizer or vapor stream is? Or are we ever really talking about scent/odor? Is "tastiness" a value of vapor only, e.g., would the same "taste" parameter apply to actually tasting, putting to ones tongue, purified oils?

Not positive what info your asking for @vap999 but in using all my vapes whether or not they are convection or conduction I have found that taste is always better with a smaller load and fewer hits. Once I start drawing vapor though a quantity of Herb/AVB as it bakes away the taste will always suffer as the hits continue and the herb browns.

What I notice in the difference between conduction and convection is that conduction adds a taste of 'toasting' the herb if that makes sense, Kind of the difference between say roasting garlic/onions in a fry pan or in the oven. conduction being the fry pan.

The only way to tell how 'Tasty' a vape will be is to use it yourself first as taste is very subjective. I know some people will tell you that my t-vape has poor taste and it does if you overfill it but even then the first few hits have an amazing intense taste that's hard to beat, at least I think so.

Taste is Taste the parameter of taste is that you taste it.

hey hi far as taste go. glass is always preferred otherwise a well seasoned heat chamber can also increase taste and of course the herb your vaping.

taste we are talking favor you know that first hit off a pipe taste ppl that vape wants that green taste with every hit glass is well like because its inert adds nothing to the taste of your herb.
a shorter pathway so favor is not lost before it reaches your mouth
and temp control so you vape at the right temp for the favor you want .

I've never had a vaporizer taste as good as the firefly, portable or desktop.

The cera is a close second.
