Really digging the 14mm WonG and Female/Female adapter set, thanks Ed!

Can't wait to give them a go on my oil rig, it has been awhile since I've used the Solo with it as I broke the 14mm female jointed PVHES stem a few months back. My second PVHES 14mm Male GonG piece is on it's last legs; can't wait to have some pieces which will last a lifetime.

@Conky I assume you are referring to the Ascent stems right, the 2 you see in the pic are to replace the inner and outer stem, I will be selling them as a set. Where the inner stem has that coned shaped glass hole filter, I have replaced that with a simple 1/2" SS screen. Works really well this way and doesn't restrict airflow.

@Snappo the wood from Danny is fine the way it is. I like to start with an 1" square for solos but can do 3/4" I just like to know I have more for boring the hole is all. 18mm is a 1/16" short of 3/4" and there's just not gonna be enough there to make a 18mm piece. I may have a piece round the shop large enough to make a wong for ya though.

@Armerad glad you like the pieces, they ship Monday, pls let me know what you think of how they perform!

Yes sir, the ascent is the one I was looking at.
How do you get the inner stem out?

Sorry @Ed's TnT and everybody just got back today. Sorry for my absence.
Here are my thoughts so far.
1) I love the quailty of the stem. It is so well turned it feels like silk in your hands, also feels very comfortable against the lips. The outer diameter is perfect not to large or to small, but just right. The inner diameter is spot on as well.
2) the flavor is hardly affected/altered by the stem. I noticed a slight change at first, a little more earthy, but it still tastes amazing!
3) I don't know if it was on purpose, or a happy accident but on my stem there is a thin turn line on the metal sleeve. That denotes the perfect load size to get awsome clouds while not restricting the draw.
4) it is so reassureing knowing that if I drop my stem it won't shatter into a million pieces. The peace of mind is priceless.
5) the tolerance of fit between stem to nano is good. It is a solid fit but easy to slip on and off the heater.
6) I have been using >.1 gram per load and loving it. A good medium to no grind all work wonderfully in it. Ground to powder causes the screen to foul out and impedes airflow.
7) the length of the stem is good and I feel the wood does well at cooling the vapor. It is warmer torwards the end of the sesion but in no way uncomfortable. At least not for me.
8) the metal transfers heat quickly and helps provide a very even abv.
9) the logo is a awesome size and looks nice. It doesn't detract from the overall beauty of the stem. I can see Ed spinning it a hundred times in my head before choosing the local.

  • Edit 9.5) I have run it at 7.5 multiple sessions with no "noticable" change in the integrity of the stem, metal sleeve, or tolerance between them.

10) Recommendations, put the turn line on all the stems it makes for a fast visual to check the load without weighing it. Maybe offer it in a standard and long version for those that like a cooler vaping experiance?
And keep On  I think it is awesome, and honestly dont have any ideas of anything to change. I have put a lot through it in the past couple of days and it keeps on rocking! I love it Ed, and I think the rest of our Nano family will as well.

@1_gr8_underdog I am so glad to hear from you bro and am even more happy to read your experience with the stem! Cocobolo has such a nice finish, you are right it does feel like silk. Being a dense wood it shouldnt impart much of a difference in the taste, any differences are subtle I feel. The thin line you see on the bushing is caused by the roller on the cutter, its very faint but it is there and I wasnt able to polish it off. Glad it worked for you. The fit is gonna be the best I can do, its as thin a wall SS tubing I can find. They say that it may vary some from piece to piece only by the .001" or so. I am glad to hear you didnt see any loosening of the bushing and the wood. I was really worried about that and still have a little concern. Pls give it a couple more days of use and report back again if you dont mind. I really want you to use the hell out of it! I am super stoked by your findings and feel better about making them and offering them to the community, thank you for being a part of it and I look forward to hearing more from you regarding its performance. Also thanks for such great detail in your description, it is very helpful! I hope all is well and thank you again for your post!

Ed --

When I asked last, you were unsure about pricing on the Ascent. Did you since mention one and I missed it?

Also, perhaps throw a few lines in your .sig here covering the range of stuff you already make, and also the stuff you are attempting and/or plan too? And link to your URL (I know it isn't complex, but still...)

Let me know what you would like to do and I will do my best to make it happen! Also good idea to add products and links to my sig. I will do this soon, thanks!

Another full day of use and still going strong @Ed's TnT no issue yet everything is still tight. Using it right now as I type this out. Loving it!
Removed the screen today for cleaning. It is a straight forward process. Push it out the bottom with the included stick, wipe the inside of the metal with iso on q-tip, dry with a fresh q-tip, and then push the new screen into place. I used the e-pik to reinstall it. Whole process took less than 3 minutes.

Hello and good morning, got a late start today, the morning slipped right up on me and I slept in late, not cool! I am an early bird, I get most of my work done before the sun comes up, now I am a little behind trying to catch up. One thing is certain, I gotta get my head right!

@thedanks I appreciate you stopping by and asking about my work! I have been giving it hell working on a couple of big orders and have fallen a little behind. I had hoped to have some back in stock by now but am still gonna be a couple weeks out. I encourage you to check back with me in a week or so for an update, if I dont have em in stock maybe I can squeeze you in for a custom request. Pls hang in there with me!

@padorni Thank you for the kind words! As I said above, I am really busy trying to make it all happen. I dont have many pieces of the Bog Oak left if thats what your interested in, these maybe the last pieces I have. I have seen some out there, they are much smaller than I'd like and damn sure aint worth what they are charging. Email me and lets talk about the BO if it is what you're after. We can discuss getting you a piece before they are all gone.

@1_gr8_underdog I am liking what I am hearing bro! I really appreciate you stopping by and updating me! I still have my concerns but they are lessening the more I hear from you. Thanks for your addressing your screen change and cleaning process, easy peasy! Glad to hear you are enjoying it and hope you will continue to let me know how its working for you from time to time. Thanks for all you have done and do, you are the MAN!

Still working on getting my head right, slowly but surely I will start firing on all cylinders! I am grateful for the inquires and kind words for my work, makes me feel good! Very grateful to you all here at FC for your offers to me to help me and my business grow, your like and appreciation for my work, and your involvement here at this forum making it what it is and why its a true blessing to me!

Thank you all!

Ed, I received my Granadillo stem from Puffitup yesterday. I used it with my newer model Solo and I like the draw. Also it gives the vapor an earthy taste. It makes my Solo more portable the stem doesn't wobble or fall out. I don't have to worry about breaking a mouthpiece when on the go. It taste so good I'm using it at home, to break it in.

It's a quality piece and very sturdy. I am looking forward to the Ascent mouthpiece.

Right on PP, right on! I am glad to hear it arrived and are enjoying it, you will never have to worry about it breaking ever again! Thank you so much for the kind words for the wood Solo stem, I just hope the Ascent Stem set meets and/or exceeds your expectations. I just checked the tracking for it and show its close, not sure how close but you should be seeing it soon.

You have seen where I placed the 1/2" SS screen in the rubber grommet of the unit right? Install the inner wood stem first by pushing it up into the device just like you would the glass stem. I insert it pushing it almost all the way in and leaving about an 1/8" out.

2014-03-06050639_zpsd8212969.jpg

I added a few screens and a few bristled pipe cleaners also. You need to lightly fold the screen just a little before you place it in the unit just to give it shape, then mash it in place using your finger. This is my method, you may do it differently. The pipe cleaners are for pushing through the inner stem to clean it. I didnt have any cotton swabs at the time to provide them for cleaning the outer stem. I just got a bunch of 3" sterile cotton swabs in yesterday that I will be sending with stem sets in the future.

I am really anxious to hear your thoughts and experience with them, pls do let me know!

Thanks again PP, I wish you all the best!

Hello and good afternoon, I started another long day last night at midnight! Knocked out a few custom orders as well as a dealer order. Trying to keep up, one job at a time! I had a little fun last night doing something different, made another Cocobolo Nano stem and a 14mm Nano wong from Afzelia for a custom request order. The Cocobolo is a wild multicolored piece, it has two bright orange streaks down either side with some purple tones in between a few black veins, I love this species. I have been putting back small blocks of different species that I cant just throw away, each piece has a little figure or unique characteristic that made it worth saving. I dug through the bunch and picked out this little piece of Asian Afzelia that was just right for the job.

@KidFated. Yes my dugouts are priced by wood species and availability. I offer so many different kinds from domestic woods grown here in the US and exotic woods from all over the world. A big factor in pricing is rarity and availability, my dealers dont mind charging a higher price for certain species and they know if you want it, you are gonna have to pay it. I just recently found out that the African Blackwood I get is probably gonna increase in price. The area where this species is grown and harvested is in a very volatile region of Africa where they are prone to wars and outbreaks of violence making it harder to obtain and riskier for sure. There are so many variables that play into the cost of exotic woods. Oh and the freaking Chinese I almost forgot about them, they are in countries like Africa and South America buying up all and everything they can get their hands on of anything of value. I have seen em on the Discovery channels Gold Rush and other shows where they move in lease all the land and rip the earth apart mining it for gold and leaving a wasteland behind. Its a sad sad fact, they care nothing about preserving Mother Natures blessings or ensuring they will be around for the next generation.

I have dugouts that start at about $25 and go up from there, alot of them are in the $30-40 range, some are close to $50 and I even have a few priced higher due to rarity and availability. If you have a # in mind and want to do something in a certain species pls let me know and I will do my best to see that you get the very best of your choice.

I hope I have been helpful Kid, I wish you all a great day!

Oh its a nice 70F degrees down here today, the sun is shining with a slight breeze blowing. I went this morning and got a few really nice rib-eye steaks and some Mexican beer, its gonna be a great evening!

I received my Ascent wooden stems today. That was quick service. It works very well with the unit, like it was suppose to come like that all along. The black looks sharp with the stealth Ascent. I put my screen on top of the herb in the oven. You had said to put it inside the stem? Ed, I couldn't find where you mentioned the screen in the emails that you had sent me.

I continue to get the flavorful vapor with the Ascent and not have to worry about breaking the mouthpiece. It really is paired well together. I would have thought it would be difficult being a two piece stem to get them to fit so nicely together. It fits inside the unit perfectly and I can adjust the mouthpiece easily, it only has a slight resistance and that's what you want. It seems so delicate but it's durable.

You have a winner with this one.

It really adds to the quality of my unit.
