Discontinued Pinnacle Pro

I dropped my pnp the other day, and the panel that covers the power button and the LEDS came off and could not be recovered (had to book it, had time to grab vape, lost a mouthpiece, a bullet, and the panel)

I was hoping to possibly get the panel replaced, and willing to pay for shipping if needed. VaporBlunt responds that they don't carry any spare panels, and they could resleeve the device for $85.

edit: removed e-mail conversation
going to see if a member from this site with a 3D printer can help me out.

Got home from work and lo and behold the Water Tool had arrived, yay! Opened package, broken. Not yay. The box looks like it got compressed somewhere along the way.

edit: let me sort out those huge pics.

I dropped my PnP recently, and the plastic panel that covers the buttons, and the mouthpiece could not be recovered.
I'm looking to replace that panel, but i can get by without the mouthpiece since I have the pong.

Hello maddinoz,
We don't usually have parts like that available but let me see what I can do for you

I can pay a few dollars for shipping with PayPal or some other way if needed. Not having the cover on this thing makes me worried about damaging the motherboard.

Hello maddinoz,
Unfortunately we do not have any extra covers. Another option, if it interests you, is to get the device re-sleeved . It would cost $85 plus shipping to do so. Please let me know if you would like to proceed with this option.
Best regards,
The VaporBLUNT

I appreciate the offer to re-sleeve, but that is just not a reasonable option. The panel is a piece of plastic worth less than $0.10. I'd rather not pay $85 plus shipping to get the device re-sleeved. Please let me know when I can get an extra cover. I'm willing to pay a few dollars for shipping, but please be reasonable.

..... no replies after that.

Good luck..I don't think they would cover the accidental damage anyway. I'm sure you aren't being that reasonable either by saying the piece costs less than 10 cents lol

You are going to have to pay more than a few dollars in shipping to get it fixed, because it was your fault that you dropped it basically

To be fair to VB, and I'm only guessing here, unless they completely assemble the sleeve/enclosure in house they probably won't have the parts lying around and would maybe have to a cannibalise a fully functioning PnP to get one.

I dunno if I'm being out of line by suggesting this but how about buying one of those shitty cheap knockoff's for $49.99 from ebay and using the panel from that?

Maybe buy a broken one from someone?

Or if you have a buddy with a 3D printer you could get him to print you a new one, which would probably only cost about 10 cents. I have one and would be willing to give it a go, only prob is I'm in the UK.

Anyway re WT I got a reply from theyoyokid1 and he is sending me out a new one today!

I don't know anybody with a 3D printer, and VB can't really help me out since they don't carry spare parts around for their vapes. Unless someone from the US has a 3D printer, having you 3D print one and sending it overseas seems to be my best option right now, unless I want to continue carrying around a jank looking taped vape. How much is your cheapest shipping option? and do you know the dimensions of the panel?

I appreciate you helping me. I almost lost this vape.

I think I am starting to see a similar crack in mine. Is yours a crack in the plastic circle around the top of the unit? If we are talking about the same thing I have similar questions.

I have the same crack in mine, and yes I do believe that is what @bellas is talking about. It's been mentioned many times by people here. We're all hoping that @TherealVaporblunt will acknowledge it as a defect so we can get it repaired under warranty.

As I mentioned earlier the plastic mouthpiece was too hot for my lips, that's why I have the mouthpiece tip not pushed down all the way. When you vape this thing on 4, lots of hot air goes through mouthpiece and the tip is made out of thin plastic gets hot real fast after 3 drags if pushed down all the way. So that way the tip stays nice and cool as I do 10 secs drag puffs after puffs. Surprisingly with the filter screen pushed out a little bit, I'm actually getting easier draws and cooler vapes. My guess is with the pushed out screen, I'm not sucking directly straight out of the bullet, but with some cool air from the gap between the mouthpiece and the PNP body, which you can obviously see.

Sorry to hear about your damaged pong :(. This sounds very interesting, nice one! I'm surprised to hear that moving the mouthpiece tip out a little makes a difference, but I guess with the domed screen mod it is pulling in cold air, mixing with the hot air, therefore cooler. May have to try this myself :). Thanks for the info .

So just how stealth is the PNP? Today on my 1.5 hour +/- 1 hour commute home, vaping while driving on back-2-back sessions the entire way, I hear a couple of stock Harley Davidson’s coming up on my left. With the PNP in my right hand, Epic GonG and all, I turn to look and nearly :shit: my pants. Was two motorcycle CHP officers! And because I turned to look, the one nearest to me turned for a quick look back. I do not know how he didn’t see I had the PNP in my mouth, nor the huge cloud that I belched out 5 seconds later. Maybe he assumed it was some e-cig as I didn’t jerk away react as if I was doing something wrong. Am I doing something wrong? :hmm:

That really made me !

Just as a tip to anyone looking at/attempting my log style stem, I took that little bowl piece off the end and put the screen in the part behind it, as the bit it was on was just a mite bit slimmer, so i figured it'd fit better in the heat port, which it does :D
I've taken a couple pics, last one also shows a BNC video connector- the same type as the one I cut down into the bowl/stem piece

That blue section is just there to facilitate the use of it with a 14.4mm glass joint

That really is a great idea! I'm surprised that it works as well without the conduction from the bullet! I didn't realise you could pack the herb in like this (upside down)! :whoa: Nice mod, thanks for sharing!

3D Printer rock and are the future... don't get me started. lol

Shipping would be the price of an airmail letter so a couple of quid most likely. I don't have a a model of the piece so I'd need you to send me it or if you can get someone to scan/build the piece in a 3d package and export an stl file you could just email it to me.

Or youcould take a load of photosa of it and upload it to

http://www.123dapp.com/catch

where they create a 3d model for you for free (I think)

Up to you but Im willing to give it a go.

Not to my knowledge; which if true is AFAIC the only bad point of the entire device.

That's a bummer. I'll have to get an ugly fat Solo instead....
For the most part the Solo is a very sturdy vape. No harsh vapor. I have both. Lately my Solo is my daily driver, used to be my Pnp. The airflow is much better with the Solo now and a very smooth vapor taste. Medicates well.

You don't have to buy a Solo........ But if you do, you won't be disappointed. Looks aren't everything. The fat girl is smart and has a great personality and the Pnp WT works great with the Solo. Not all bad.

Ive figured out a way to clean the screen!! Heat up the PnP for a few minutes on any setting with the PonG on. This loosens things up. Then stick a chopstick from a togo chinese food joint in to the top of the PonG and push down. It was pretty easy but I was timid at first. Once its out soak screen in ISO and qtip the hot gunk and its set!!

Also, Im planning on waiting for engineering's solution, Do I just wait until an update to send in my PonG?

I already sent my pong in, it's not damaged, but I want a new glass pong. I put mine in a large envelope with some bubble wrap padding. I also included a note inside my package and sent an email, including my name and address as well as a phone number, email address. I'm not in a hurry, I want something well made, I want it done right.

I am one of the FCers with the spot around the top of the unit that's cracked or has the slit, as what I call it. I have a total of 3 units 2 with the slit or crack around the sleeve area of the Pnp.

This is a problem the material gets hot and splits. This is not covered under warranty. Good luck getting your unit fixed without a fee. I have emailed regarding this issue a few times to VB. I gave up, don't have the time to deal with.

I already spent $50 to get a unit fixed ( plus the cost of shipping $10) where the sleeve area tore due to the mouthpiece sticking, due to resins from herb. The unit needs to be hot when taking the mouthpiece or pong off, to make it easy to pull off.

This could be an excellent product, but it's not quite there yet, best of luck with your purchases.

I have the same cracking on mine. Only had it for 3 days before it happened ! Not a good device after 3....

I never got above level 3 with mine. I bought 3 units because I was so excited about the vape. I wanted to have extra vapes for friends, when I had company. I even named myself in honor of such a wonderful vaporizer when I joined FC. It does such a great job extracting, I just love it with the WT. It's OK to love more than just one vape, a variety is a good thing.

This wonderful little machine has its quality and it's flaws.:horse:
But not ready for prime time.

I am a bit dismayed that Pinnacle has a repeated and obvious flaw with the crack issue and they refuse to acknowledge it. It does not bode well for customer retention. Ive noticed a small line in my Pro now and I just have to hope that it doesnt widen. I wouldnt feel so bad if I knew they were backing their product on such a flaw. I will be sure to keep the temp at 3 or lower and hope I get lucky. Unless they fix the crack issue and the non replaceable battery, I doubt I will stick with Pinnacle once this unit dies. Customer service is the most important part of a small business and so far theirs is sorely lacking. It disappointing because the Pro has so much potential and with a few tweaks it could be the best portable on the market. Its saddens me that they have a shot at gold and are settling for bronze.

@ TRVB,

I received my TRVB glass gong.
Thanks for sending this out.
Discreetly and safely packaged.
Labelled with CWW Tech.
The O-ring definitely creates the needed seal to ensure that the air flows completely travels through the bullet.
Tastes very clean and the gong stays much cooler than the original Pong.
I am going to have modify one of my older pongs or MPs to act as a support base when using the glass gong on my bubbler because the TRVB glass gong is not stable enough.

This is obviously going to be rectified by the Engineering glass insert gong pong.

The O-ring makes the world of a difference.

@TherealVaporblunt
@Engineering

I would highly suggest adding an O-ring to the Engineering glass insert gong pong, between the glass insert flange and the pong's shaft to create the ultimately seal as shown below:

WFgml2g.jpg

Here are pics of the glass gong that TRVB kindly replaced:
M5OENxq.jpg

uD3k46p.jpg

I know someone who has returned 3 Ascents and have finally given up.
They are using their home vape until VB finally releases the glass insert gong pong.
They were having off gassing, inconsistent temperature issues with the Ascent.

I know people who cannot stand how finicky the glass stem on the Solo can be.
Having to tilt, push, add O-rings.
Loose stems.
Draw issues.

Nothing out there is perfect, but I think the PNP comes very close.

The PNP's pong issue has been addressed and a permanent countermeasure has been announced.

As a temporary countermeasure was released with the TRVB glass gong.

VaporBlunt, thanks for offering such an amazing product and providing such good service to me.

If people still complain after you release the glass insert gong pong, then your next glass mouthpiece just might have to be this:

@ Grim Chiclets,

Is that knurled metal piece aluminum?
Be careful if it is.
I know someone had issues with an aluminum e-cig.

Where did you get that component?

If it is from a reputable vape manufacturer then you're probably all good.

I just noticed my original PN has a hairline crack too, seem to work fine though. I do hear a click sound when it's heating and cooling, no idea if its related. Has anyone heard back on a battery replacement program?

Decided to give my PNP another go. But this time I turned on the unit for awhile before inserting the bullet and then once I inserted the bullet I let that cook for a bit as well. I also slowed my draw speed down to a crawl. I set it to 3 to start it out and I seemed to actually get pretty good vapor. Maybe coming for the milk shake solo has improved my drawing lol because idk if I can get use to this sipping that I have to do with the PNP. But regardless it seems to work pretty good and I'm no longer thinking I wasted money. Going to try it out and about today actually to give it the true test(I want to be able to start and stop a bowl at least once).

Video connector, stainless, not aluminium haha. I'm just not one for cosmetics so much
It is ferrous/ferromagnetic- which I just got curious about, turns out the bullets aren't even steel at all!

The unit works still really good with the hair line crack. It just makes the Pnp vulnerable if the mouthpiece sticks, resin from herb is sticky. More folks will not be aware of this issue and will damage the sleeve which is where the mouthpiece attaches.

Always remove your mouthpiece when the unit is warm.

The saga continues...

With the o-ring seal that the TRVB all glass gong offers, made me go back to the drawing board.

I really do need an extended air path for allowing the vapor to cool down a bit.

Taking dry hits straight from the TRVB glass gong still gets a bit hot for the throat.

Here's what I did to my DA hack job:

PGZsuZE.jpg

OkPMm25.jpg

33xWN7z.jpg

1ugtPNz.jpg

sHeKomF.jpg

P4BCNY5.jpg

Pulled out the O-ring slightly so you can see it in this pic.
ngpro5K.jpg

Wdk6ET7.jpg

I had to take down the glass spacer to ensure that the O-ring sits in the PNP.

This thing doesn't leak any air at all.

My AVB is coming out very dark at 2 now (equivalent to 4 before).

Need to use the sipping method with this set up.

All glass all day with my PNP from now on!

BTW, for the DIY people, when you're doing cutting/grinding with your PES Pong or MP, tape off the inside so you don't accidentally take off any material unintentionally.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the O-ring that I am using is Viton. Kalrez is another hi-temp, chemical resistant o-ring material.

That looks familiar. Love it, I basically did the same thing with mine. Im using the clear pong. I couldn't get the Ascent glass inside the pong so I had to sand it down. Works really good, dry hits on level 3 with just a bit a harshness, but tolerable. Very smooth on level 2.:)
