The Lotus Vaporizer

all my torch lighters seem to be inconsistent, vector, honest, no name, etc... I have a drawer full of torch lighters now, and so far my favorite to use as of recently is either the Xing that looks like a fat version of the honest, or the 2 flame (pistol grip) set to single flame. I do think a lot of the misfiring comes from air in the fuel chamber. If not properly filled/burped/topped off/burped/topped off its hard to get a steady flame. The only torch I have that is completely steady is the huge vector, which is way too strong for our use w/ the lotus.

Jam? Don't you purge before each fill? I have gone through a few cause I lose them or gift them to friends and I have not seen any inconsistencies in performance. Maybe one in ten is busted, that's all...

Wow $15 - $25 is expensive for a high quality lighter like Mark's Vector or my Madelaine? When you are telling people to buy a product inferior, that may not even work, so get 12???

The flame control is awesome, this is well built. Quite click compared to Honest and works everytime! No Lemons yet, cousin had it for multiple years and works awesome, still to this day! That's value, IMO...

They are more expensive than the Honests aren't they? 15$ vs 3$…? I get them by the dozen cause the price over ten is closer to 2$ and I can spare a few to gift to friends or just to have peace of mind since Lotus is the vape that ruled them all for me and don't want to be left without a lighter. I don't see them as inferior product for the price and you haven't seen me once bitching about my lighters not working, right? ;)

Half of the Lotus posts are about lighters… :\ If everyone bought a dozen of Honests with the Lotus and purged them before each fill we sure wouldn't have so many of them… @Max Jitter sure made a nice choice when he picked them for the standard package.

Anyway, it's all about choices. Me? I wouldn't want to lose my 15$-25$ lighter, no sir… That's a lot of food in my stomach… :2c:

I got an Honest lighter with my Lotus kit. I bought a second one shortly after, as a backup. I've used nothing but over the past few months, and both work beautifully. (I actually bought another one that I gave to a friend...who also continues to use it without issue to this day).

I have to agree with @natural farmer that the Honest is a great lighter to use with this vape. So far I've seen no reason nor felt any impetus to spend more on an alternative.

You were the one who reccomended the Lotus over Coil bc of function, worth the extra money for less hassle. I'm glad I listened, thank you, now I'm just returning the favor in a very similar argument.:2c::peace:

Yes I do purge, and I think my point was more about the vector being just as inconsistent as the honest... so unless you just like vector, no need to waste the extra $... but I guess that didn't translate properly... no worries, it's early and my head is still half asleep.

:p

No worries… But the Lotus vs Coil is not just about pumping vapor, right? The differences are huge. With the lighters we just need an inch of a reliable flame. Now if you can find me the most silent and reliable torch, I wouldn't mind spending a bit more… ;)

That's what Ive been saying, lol! My girlfriend can't stand any other lighter bc it wakes her up, but not this one. The quite hiss is almost louder than the click! It's the bee's knees and the ants pants all rolled into one. I've done my homework and am thrilled with this craftsmanship for what cost me $13.50 apiece (find a buddy and/or get two or more bc shipping is ridiculous for 1 IMO but they combine to lessen ppu total).

Sorry for revisiting the lighter issues... I do imagine it has all been discussed (still kinda new here and not all caught up on the Lotus thread:))

My original reason for bringing up other lighters is not so much dissatisfaction with the supplied Honest; rather it was because I am seeking a larger tank that requires less refills. I think it would be so nice to be able to just put the whole can into one big lighter, and would be one less thing for me to carry while transporting.

If you need a larger tank, check Xing (Deal extrme or bay..) like Jam post above.. They are really similar in price and quality compare to Honest. You get them in plenty of colours and shape as well ( like grenade style for exemple :p ) + I think you can refill them till the fullest without freezing it, unless honest one.. Anyway I prefer Honest for the shape and more comfy in hands.

Lotus is amazing ! For EU vaporist : the german shop 'verdampftnochmal.de' got them back ! They also carry accessories on mail order apparently ! (hope the screens will be for free like Mendocino seems to do)

One question after I have seen the picture with the FF on the Lotus pipe : does anybody has already tried to heat the plate with wood embers (is it correct word ?), like you would loose your lighter and you are on a bbq somewhere... ? I doubt it would work but it would be fun to know.

Cheers, it is vape time !

Embers don't work. A thin film of ash is formed immediately when removed from fire and acts as an insulator. Not even shisha coals work...

A taste on the tongue
I'm tempted by one of these.

I have a few questions can't seem to get the search working via mobile phone?

1 any good for hash or oil
2 how long does it take to do a bowl - I have a solo and PnP but miss the quick it's all done in a couple of minutes
3 can you vape to nearly combustion to get the elusive things like THCV etc

Any other thoughts on it?
It looks like my possibly being my 3rd vape in as many weeks what a melt ha ha

Yes, yes and yes ;-)
Hash is nice on a second screen or on a green bed if it is unpressed "kief" or bubble. A bowl can go very kick if you want and if you master the technique !

EDIT @cityslang simply misunderstanding with thca , my mistake...sorry
However, yes it is possible to get to 220/230c° considering abv would look brown/dark brown...i usually don't get there cause it is also composed of nasty gas.

@oklahomie would you mind link the j-hook link ? I bet it was pages ago... Really nice video, much more tempting than a picture !
Also how big is the mouthpiece hole ? I would like a j-hook which can be cleaned fast with water + brush. I like the size of it !
@SSVUN~YAH I really don't get how this would fit together and work? :hmm:

I got a bit lost here, how do you intend to use the Lotus without the WPA?
Those look like your standard bowl, not 14mm that the Lotus cap could fit over.

Am I missing something?

yeah, i think @SSVUN~YAH is posting baked again...hopefully not shopping baked too! none of those pieces look like they would accept a gong joint.

My Lotus is working as all you guys said it would. It worked so well on day 1 that I decided to take it with me as my road trip vape instead of one of my desktops.

Thanks to all you guys and your usage posts. My technique keeps getting better the more I read. I adjusted my flame to the width of the lotus petals last night and things got even better. What I love about this forum is I had already put this vape in my top four without even trying it based on the fanfare it was generating here among the regulars. And I am not disappointed in the least. It's exactly what I thought it was based on all your comments...thanks!

Last night I was using it and thinking about it out loud and my wife said I should post that. I told her that's what I usually do...get vaped and post! Anyhow, my thoughts succinctly summed up...

The Lotus is a simple, inexpensive yet elegant design that just works that I can see someone having as their only vape or daily driver. If one were to haphazardly get this vape as their first, they might very well not get another for a long time!

After being my one and only daily driver for over a year of hard use, my S&B has only been out of the cabinet twice since receiving the Lotus- both times were when the Lotus was in for cleaning:)

In fact, now I can use the WPA while cleaning/soaking the stem, or vice versa; meaning Lotus will be available to me all the time- even when one is being cleaned.

Well I got my lotus based on reviews here, but already seem to have broken the lighter trying to fill it (never did a Butane lighter before, hoped to go my whole life without the experience). While I wait till I can buy a good lighter (and have someone else fill it for me), does anyone know why does the doughnut part of the Lotus come with a sort of nail sticking down from one of the holes underneath? I can't find anything in the instruction pamphlet about it and it doesn't show up in the illustrations or videos.

Hang in there with your lighter… :(

The nail you are talking about is the most useful stiring stick ever… ;):D remove vapor cup, stir, replace, puff away! :smug:

Will any torch lighter work for this, or is there some reason to use the specific one from Lotus? That's probably a stupid question but when it comes to mechanical reasoning I'm really, really stupid. I understand that I do need it to be a hooked lighter like the Lotus one, right? Thanks!
