Medical Marijuana Bill Passes in Georgia- 171 to 4

IMO a huge step forward for a state that has been historically opposed to marijuana. While not aimed for masses, this bill is specifically to allow medical treatment of seizures in children. This is a small but monumental step, and hopefully the beginning of a larger reformation.

The bill passed the House with an overwhelming vote of approval: 171 to 4.
And now the bill goes to the Senate.

While this is all notable and positive, there are certain obstacles in that the bill is poorly designed. For example, only selected Universities will be allowed to grow and that no inventory (crops nor seeds) will be allowed into the system from out of state... this provides a natural obstacle if they cannot get a few strands from established medical growers in other states. But I am certain they will come up with some way to work around the technicalities and any other obstacles.

Downward spiral
I am VERY leary anytime politicians, of any party affiliation, do anything "for the children".
They are trying to backdoor a similar plan in Florida. I do not like it. This is not a group of politicians who were sceaming for the sick children prior to have access to MMJ. The FL bill as I understand, was thrown together to "combat" the ammendment that United for Care is working towards, which allows for more than just children.

Best of luck, Georgia!

Concerning MJ for children, I wonder how much Gupta's reporting had to do with this?

IMO It had everything to do with Gupta- he is pushing the issue to mainstream media, and hopefully is getting the ball rolling in the right direction for the first time in decades
