VaporBox

Thanks, I have been mentioning the vaporbox to people I speak to you as one of the whip vaporizers I recommend to look at it, among many others and knowing that difference will help them understand better. Thank you.

Though, I do not think anyone selected vaporbox due to the price point to so close to others but I still list it.

I hear you on the screens. I much preferred the original design of the DBV wand as the screen was easy to change. The version they have now frustrates me to no end but right before I say screw it and get my old wand it goes in place. That is my kind of luck, I will get their, but have to get screwed with first hehe.

They use a standard 18.8MM Female GONG joint on the wand, but the issue lies further back in the bowl. They widen/taper out as it goes further up. So,where a normal wand would continue to get smaller, these actually get wider, forcing you to use more so nothing falls out. This is why I bought the VaporTower Wand/Hand Kit,its a simple 2 piece design with CAPTIVE screens. I simply unscrew the bottom, drop in 0.01-0.5G,screw it back together & vape away without having to worry about anything falling out,stirring/mixing or efficiency. Granted the VT wand/hand kit is an extra $45 or so,but in the end,it pays for itself with the efficiency & versatility it has :2c:
thanks guys for the input I have pretty much decided on this model I don't like the fact that the VBros does not have an auto shut-off I have been told that the vaporbox is the same as all the other box style units out there but this is not true, the vaporcannon 3G/4G have holes in the side of the heater cover similar to SSV/DBV units so the air path does not go through the electronics this is why I'm still not sure about the vaporbox because doesn't the air path go through the body of the unit?

Theres not much for it to pass over really. Looks like it comes in thru a hole on the bottom then right into the glass tube with the heater...

Nice thanks Justin that's what I wanted to hear I do like the vaporbox and I think you just helped me make my decision thanks again.

I REALLY suspect something is wrong with your DBV. Besides the fact that you say there are cracks in the heating element and that it's behaving weirdly, you also said you only get four hits per bowl. This is a sure sign it's up too high. I can, using the stock whip and .2grams, get 8-12 visible vapor hits easily. If I start at a low temperature, I can almost certainly double that.

Actually, I think a bit of empirical evidence will help this. A few minutes ago, I packed a bowl in my Genie and took two very light (but visible) hits out of it. I know the bowl on my Genie doesn't hold more than .2 grams, so let's give a very generous estimate of .15 grams. According to you, this is 2 (let's call it three) hits on your Da Buddha. I'm going to put it in mine right now. On mine it is *drumroll, goes to vape*

*minutes later*

Three hits in, plenty of green left. I'm taking slow, 9-second hits, if anyone wants to standardize this :p

***goes back***

All right. 10 hits in and I'm really high. There's still a significant amount of green/tan left in the bowl, so the vaping can and will go on, but...I'm really high. I lost count on the last two hits and they ended up more like 18 than 9 seconds. I'll update this with the final number when I finish, but hopefully this will demonstrate that Da Buddha isn't nearly an inefficient as FEAR420 asserted.

I think the efficiency of Da Buddha is exactly the same as VaporBros, VaporBox and VaporWarez; the physics are the same, the heaters are all of the same quality, and the tubing is the same length and diameter. If anything, Da Buddha has the edge because its much narrower wand allows you to pack much smaller amounts of weed in, unlike the gigantic stock wands on the wooden box vapes.

EDIT: 15 hits total.

Maybe not exactly, but there's going to be very little difference between standard sized (name brand) whip vapes, from one brand to another, based on design.

I don't think I'm beating a dead horse at all. You made what I considered a very suspect claim, namely that Da Buddha produced four hits from .3 grams. Using half that amount, I got nearly four times as many hits as you did, which demonstrates that something went wrong somewhere on your end, unless you were using the schwaggiest of schwag in Da Buddha and the best of California in the VaporBox. I suspect that the cause is Da Buddha being turned up too high. On a related note, I feel like some of the other results you had, particularly the comparison of taste, might be colored by this discrepancy--of course the vapor from the Box is going to taste better than that of the DBV, if your DBV is torching all the herb in four hits.

I hope I'm not coming off as a prick, I just don't want to see people mislead as to the true capabilities of such a fine vape as Da Buddha.

Also, what's the warranty on the VaporBox? You mentioned it in your original post but I don't think you actually said what it was.

I find that I get meatier big hits with my SSV than my VB and "sharper" hits with my VW 3G - the differences are subtle of course. The VW wand has its own proprietary diameter and my SSV is not hands free - I believe the wand design plays a significant role in hit quality.

Those would be some huge hits for sure.

I suspect that the cause is Da Buddha being turned up too high.
A high temp setting will definitely go through your bowl quicker. This isn't vape dependent either.

You have to understand, not all things are equal. The herb used by you and by others is not the same. Add on to that, some people cut up their weed while others grind up their weed and then depending on the type of grinder the end result of the herb may have its kief removed.

I can say within a draw or two with mid range herb, processed through a 5 piece grinder. If I went to get maxim draws for each draw then I would concur with Fear. Now if I just cut up my herb, I would concur with you, especially if taking a normal draws.

Keep in mind, while on the surface things seem equal but in reality they often are not. I caution that when you see the results of someone and you want to determine if you can realistically achieve those results, I suggest that you look further into that persons style and usage to determine if they fit your style. If you match in similarities then its more likely that you will achieve similar results but if you do not then you may not. As you noted, some potential differences in temperature and other user settings that can dramatically affect the process. Keep in mind, when reading a review, it is a review of that persons usage and not a complete definition of the product.

No matter how experienced or whatnot some people here may sound, starting with myself, we are not scientist nor are we truly experts in the vaping field. At best, we are informed vapist to a type of activist. If someone should take the viewpoint of only one person regarding an object than they are not making a truly informed decision.

I can see nothing wrong in FEARS remarks on the DBV. I have, use and love my DBV, heck the DBV helped me write this hehe. I can see how he can have those results and I can see how you can have different results. I see it as your both right kind of thing. With that said, that is just my view on it, take from it what one will.

Are both the VaporBox and the Vapor Cannon replacements for the VaporWarez?

Hey Mr Budahh,

My first vaporizer ever was actually one very similar to the Vaporbox. It worked fairly well for about a year and then it died on me. I never recall getting great hits from it, but it did the job.

Unfortunately I believe this model is discontinued, and not many users here own this vaporizer so you may not get much feedback. Have you looked into Da Buddah Vaporizer?

It has a similar whip style design and is around the price of the one you mentioned but unlike the one you mentioned it has a really good reputation and while I don't own the Da Buddah Vaporizer, I do own its cousin the Silver Surfer Vaporizer and it is in my opinion a very solid and overall awesome vaporizer.

Hey folks -

Ever since I decided to buy a vape I've been reading these boards quite a bit and posting a few questions. Such a great forum -- good info, helpful users, wide range of topics. Anyway, just thought I'd share what's been my vaping experience.

After a lot of research, I decided to go for a Da Buddha. Unfortunately, I did not use one of the FC discounts but instead bought from a dealer on eBay. They seemed legit and had great user feedback so maybe I just got unlucky, but first they sent me a non-working unit, then one with a cracked heater cover. When I finally got it going, I still wasn't convinced it was working properly. I was not experiencing anything like what people described vaping to be like. I seemed to be unable to get clouds unless the knob was cranked way up, and the product would turn brown quickly, after just a hit or two. I also did not like the way the little metal spacer fit over the heating element. I was never able to get the glass heater cover to a position I was totally comfortable with. Anyway, after a couple of weeks of experimenting with breathing and amount/strain of product and getting only so-so results, I ended up breaking the glass cover trying to shift it around the heater. Rather than replace it, I just sold the whole unit cheap on Craigslist.

Decided to try again with a box style vape. After more reading and price hunting, I decided to go with a VaporBox from Vaporstore.com. Great experience - after ordering online, I called and talked to a friendly employee about adjusting the order. Got what I wanted two days later via USPS. Been using the VaporBox for a little while now and the experience is great. Tastes good, nice clouds, and product lasting a nice long time. I'm working my way through a bowl now and I can't believe how well it's still hitting at the same temp. (This actually makes me even more convinced my DBV was out of whack -- bad heat regulation or something.) I upgraded to the 2-screen VaporTower whip for $10 (reg. price is $45-50), if that's of interest to anyone.

I find the effects are not nearly as pronounced a difference from smoking as I expected -- from some of the descriptions on here, I thought the psychological effects of smoking vs vaping would be like night and day. Not so for me. Very similar experience, though I do feel more clearheaded while vaping. I don't get as whacked-out stony. I'm a writer, and usually I can't write or do work after smoking because I can't focus. Vaping, I feel more focused and actually feel like ideas come to me in a different way when I'm high. I'm not quite lucid enough to actually write an essay or anything like that, but I am definitely able to take notes and get down good ideas that I might not have when not high.

Physical effects are great. Definitely do not get that heavy chest feeling that comes with smoking. Feel much better the next morning.

All in all very pleased with my vape #2. I have no doubt the DBV is an excellent vape -- obviously it has many, many fans here and I can tell it's a solid product. I just had a crap experience, or maybe there's something about the way it's built that I just had a hard time with. In any case, I can recommend the VaporBox and also recommend the dual-screen whip -- nice touch because the herb is sealed between the 2 screens so it vapes evenly and doesn't fall out into the heating element.

Anyway - thanks for reading. Thanks to the FC users and mods for a great forum.

jackson495,
This vape thread is a tad old but I doubt that means anything in way of Vaporbox being old and outdated.....My 2 CENTS: I researched for days and weeks before scoring slightly used Vaporbox off the ebay for crazy low price of get this, $33. It is kick arse machine overall. It has the 2 piece deluxe handsfree whip common to the Vtower which was attractive cause I thought I was going to be using the screw apart section of whip as a chamber. I scrapped that idea quik though for two reasons. Firstly there was only one screen inside and no actual spot to install a second without sort of bending screen in the downstream section of parts all hokie like..(I did test this way even though it not really a chamber area). Secondly herb didn't heat as well there inside two screens for me during my first testing/adjusting/learning the thing(newbs..lol..maybe I got to crank it up higher to use like that...IDK). Wait hold on I should go back and start over..The downward angle forced upon whip causing herb to fall near or on the heater/glass cover is why I had made sure to get that deluxe whip. Since all was lost there in that idea of using filter section as chamber I just ended up turning whole unit upside down up off my headboard. That way it has a straight out angle to where no herb falls to far out the chamber to irk me.(kinda like the DaBudah bit not a perfect angle like Silver Serfer)
Don't get me wrong, I like the thing a ton as it offers up nice big wide open draws compared to some other vape types and is good for sharing with ones partner due to the big chamber area.,..... ahh nice popcorn smell emanates from the whip chamber when ya stir the warmed goods..IDK why such is so on this whip type compared to other vapes..My Vapir No2 only going to 400 degree was what I assumed is reason but that makes not much sense being I mostly shoot for same thickness between machines. Why does popcorn smell develop on some machine and not on others??

What a great deal - congratulations!
As far as the downward angle causing your herb to fall, there are several workarounds.
One is to simply tilt the unit on its side, but if you do so the unit will lose its grip on whatever surface you have it rested on. So it could slide around if you're not careful.
I've posted this before but in case you missed it the best solution that I've found is to get a mousepad with wrist support. This will correct the angle issue and provide grip and stability.

jeffp,
The VaporTower is just an updated Vaporbox correct? Same quality?
If I recall, the tower is same but has the deluxe whip which you can also get for the standard box. I happened to run across a very slightly used vaporbox that had the deluxe whip via the fleabay and I love that aspect for cleaning purposes and screen changing (which isn't very often). I thought part of the idea for the new whips screw apart chamber was for to put yer stuff in and keep it contained for tower type vapes but there really doesn't seem to be enough area or an actual location within to put a second screen inside. I did try it as such but all contained inside doesn't allow for stirring the goods once in awhile anyways. ( I get about 2 good stirs) This said maybe I am mistaken and the tower has a different config able to use two screens within...You'll love the standard box with deluxe whip though...so much smoother with no restriction these old school whip based vapes compared to some other options. (had to modify my portable vapir#2 for instance to try and make an easier draw).... Noticed my deleuxe whip was getting a tad harsh the other night and so when I unscrewed the whip chamber I had about half a teaspoon of nice sticky. The wife just now happened to say "I wanna go smoke that sticky"..lol.. such is coincidence..Enjoy!! :D

ps- as to the box or tower angle.. I use my box upside down up on a shelf. As such the angle of the top that it sits on makes the element have a straight level angle which makes for no stuff falling on element. Not sure on the standard whip but the deluxe glass makes for a snug enough grip that we don't pull it off unless we're fighting for the next hit..I would consider the angle a flaw and would prefer the silver surfer angle. with that type though ya have to have the special glass or connection if you wish to not hold it up to the element. i do not like to take mine off unless stirring so the Vaporbox is a fantastic vape. It uses standard size whip too which is a big plus if it ever breaks..

I've only heard great things about the Tower so I'm sure that it's a good choice. I haven't used my vapor box in a while; just haven't been in the mood for the box vape experience, but I think qualitatively it's equivalent to the vapor bros and the customer service and free lifetime repair aspect is second to none.

it's a great deal, the vapor box is more expensive - about 150 or so - and the vapor bros has a nice blue light and i've had a unit repaired by them that i had bought used and the cost was nominal.
i highly recommended the wrist support mouse pad for leveling the vapor bros. i know alot of people say that the box vapes are ergonomically correct as is - i personally disagree. also turning the unit on its side will cause it to slide. the mouse pad allows the vaporizer to retain grip and stability. anyway have fun with your new toy... but i'm not sure i would vote for you in 2016.
