I start at four, until my vapors get weak, and then I finish on a seven. I have MS; therefore, the vapors extracted at a high temp really makes my spastic legs feel great. My sessions, most of the time, are about 17 minutes (The time to burn an incense stick).
PS: This is a very responsive community. Not often am I able to speak with manufactures, and other consumers. It's sort of like talking with the guy who builds the race car and the race car drivers who drive them real hard.

Hm maybe some of the other users will chime in to help with your technique, maybe all you need is a little tweaking here and there and this will resolve the issue.

FC is a great community with a wealth of information and many many helpful members. I have had so much help along the way, they are a big reason I have been so successful here. Pls stay a while and take advantage of this place, you will find it very rewarding!

Has anyone used the stems in a Solo which has been modified with a silicone o-ring? How is the airflow in this setup?

I've found discussion of airflow for the stems in the Solo earlier in the thread, but I don't think the person was using an O-Ring. I'd search the thread but the search function is down and it's difficult to search within this one specific thread via Google.

O-rings are ABSOLUTELY NOT NEEDED when using Ed's wood stems. They fit very snug and secure! I find the airflow to be equal to or better than the PlanetVape.com PVHES glass stems, but overall much more enjoyable for several reasons: sensational classy looks, unbreakable, slightly bigger bowl, nice flavor, mates with water tools, custom woods and sizes, excellent customer service, etc. Don't hesitate! Enjoy!

EDIT: My SOLO is about a year old now, so the above comments relate to that. I monitor the SOLO and Ed's TnT threads daily, and have yet to see anything reported to the contrary regarding the newer SOLO models used w/Ed's stems.

@Reflections Thanks for the kind words, I will for sure let you all know when they are available! As I said I am concerned about separation between the bushing and the wood. I did some more testing with my Nano on as high a temp it would reach, I put the stem over the heat port only for a few seconds, then lift and remove between draws. I have not had any separation at all! I am also sending one out today for beta testing, I want someone else to put it through it heavy use and see if they have any problems before I offer them. I dont wanna send out a bunch of stems that come apart during use. Lets get this testing out of the way before I start using different species like Koa. I have some awesome curly Koa but it is a softer species than the Cococbolo I used in the beta stem, I am not sure how the density of the wood would affect the connection between the bushing and the wood. Hang in there with me, I only wanna provide a solid piece that will last! Thanks for your interest!

@Snappo What do you think of this brand bro? I remembered I already had a small branding iron with a really small head. I tested it on a couple different species of wood and it worked rather well.

Had a customer ask me if its possible to make a 14mm female/female adapter, it took a little time to figure out. I had to make my own bushings from wood to center the the 14mm ID hole through the middle and then the pressure of the bushings combined with the head stock and tail stock tightened was cracking my blank. Once I got all that right I turned one, made it from Cocobolo, its just a little over 2" in length and just under an 1" OD. Pls tell me what you all think and whether or not you think this might be a popular item.

That's an outstanding etching to identify the stem as an original. You may want to register that as your trademark (so people wont steal that also). Something as simple as a stamp of authenticity gives the consumer a piece of mind knowing they got an original.

I would suggest you contact an attorney to file your paper work; it will save you alot of paper work and head aches. It shouldn't cost very much, and you will have that peace of mind.

So what do you all think of the wooden adapter? Do you all like it or what? Do you see it being a useful tool or did I waste my time making it? I wanna hear you alls thoughts! Many of you all are so in tune with water pipes and how they work and what works best that you all know a hellova lot more than me, your opinions and thoughts are so valued by me! If its cool then good, if its not then no sweat, pls be honest and let me know so I am not spinning my wheels going nowhere.

Yeah I'd probably use it, more durable than glass. I know I've had a few scares where I pull my GonG's out and forget that the piece doesn't have a keck clip attached, usually the adapter sticks long enough for me to realize what's happening. Few times it fell, thankfully onto carpet, but I don't have carpet in all the places I vape.

And that branding and the wooden adapter...

I am gonna be making one as a custom piece from African Blackwood for a customer, I will take some pics and post them soon. I am glad you like the idea of the adapter and the branding on the stems!

From here on out all wooden stems and pieces I create will have the brand if there is enough surface and size to do so!

@1_gr8_underdog thanks for letting me know bro! I appreciate your feedback, the adapter was fun to make. I am gonna do a 14mm male to male adapter also, its fun to take a break from all the stems and such to try something new. If your interested in a wooden adapter in any form pls let me know, I like a challenge! Also glad you dig the brand, I think it gives the customer some assurance that the stem is legit and is made by Ed's TnT!

Ed's Tnt: I just wanted to touch base with you. I was able to resolve the problem with the Solo over heating. I first sanded the metal on the stem to take out any machining marks, thus, making it slide better into the vaporization unit. I than stretched out the o ring so the wood stem can vent and not conduct heat back to the vaporizer. Being that the wood stem is more portable, I used it differently than I did my glass piece: My glass piece, I would insert into the Solo after it was at temperature. The wood stem, I would load with material and simply put it into the solo and bring it to temperature while the stem was in the unit. The difference being: I would heat up the solo without the glass stem in the unit; as opposed to, heating up the unit with the wood stem already in it. For some reason heating up the unit with the stems in it seems to heat up the Solo beyond its normal operating temperature.

@Ronp Good deal, glad you got it worked out, I know you put some work into it! All these bushings are hand turned as close to the dimensions needed with my my Grizzly metal lathe/milling machine combo, its the smallest one they offer, its a solid machine and performs really well for what I am doing. Turning the SS down is a little tough on it depending on the hardness of the steel. I am learning alot about the properties of metal and how it reacts in various situations. It can be easy to work at times or it can make you wanna pull your hair out! As you I have said in the past I make the bushings to fit snug in the Solo, some may vary in OD by the .001" or so one way or another. A .001" may not seem like much but it can make a difference either good or bad. You must have gotten one that was slightly larger than normal and sanding it just enough to remove that tiny little bit is all it took to fix your problem. I am glad you got it resolved but hate it wasnt quite right to start with. Wish you woulda wanted to send it back for a replacement right off the bat, I would have sent you out a replacement and saved you some time and work.
