Hello and good morning everyone, I hope all is well out there!

@Armerad I think you would be happy with a super short Blackwood Solo stem, they are very durable and should last a lifetime. I know @MileHighLife has gotten one from me and would know how they perform, maybe he will stop by and share his thoughts. Pls let me know if you are interested, I am out of them at the moment and would have to make you a custom piece.

@Caligula I have just gotten a piece of SS tubing in the other day, I had hoped to have something made for the Nano yesterday but was slammed with a wholesale dealer order. I got to do some admin type stuff this morning and packaging orders this afternoon but hope to get a little time to make a stem for it this weekend. Pls hang in there with me a little longer, I am anxious to do this! Is there anyway you can give me exact measurements of the heat port OD? I need it in inches if possible to the .000". The tubing I have fits a loose on my Nano, I have one of the first Nanos offered, I remember Andy saying the dimensions of the heat port would change on the newer units. I wanna know if the tubing I have will work with new and old units.

Wow, alot has been happening round here ya'll! I have been starting my days at midnight after a few hours rest in the evenings the last few days. I finally got a whole night sleep last night and feel mo better today. I got one order almost buttoned up, the wood work is done, just gotta get em packaged and out the door. I have a big European order I am working on now, its 750 pieces of various stems, I am about a 1/3 of the way through it. Gotta prep some more wood for it these next couplea days then I will be turning again for a while. Hell then I gotta another big MF order I gotta start on after I get the EU one done! When its raining its pouring! I just got an order out to MF and then they hit me with another one. Anybody down south need some work? I got plenty for a helper.

I have some good news on the Ascent stems, I got all the African Blackwood in and thats what I will be prepping for turning. I have been using the Ascent quite a bit with the wood stems, as I have said they perform really well. They have gotten a little gummy and have needed to be cleaned, I soak a cotton swab in ISO and squeeze out the excess, swab out the inside of the outer stem a few times, let it dry, then use one of my bristled pipe cleaners to push through the inner stem a time or two. I have also swapped out the screen once and had to take an ISO soaked swab and swab the rubber grommet where the screen goes. My material is not that sticky so I havent gotten alot of goo in stems. I do know that a little maintenance goes a long way. A simple cleaning from time to time will ensure the stems perform well and increase the longevity of them also.

I have been in contact with Davinci, I have introduced myself and told them all about what I do and whats been going on at Ed's TnT, I sent them pictures of my idea and told them of my intentions to offer them at my website. They were really receptive for my work and dig the idea of a wooden stem set! I was worried that they may tell me that they didnt dig it cause I was copying their glass stems and tell me to F'off, but that was not the case. They even wanted to buy a set, I told them there is no way I could charge them, I would be more than happy to send them a set. Its because of them and others that I am able to do what I do. I am so blessed I have the skills and ability to do what I love and offer products that people can use to have a good time and enjoy! They gave me the OK to sell them also! I dont know if I needed it or not but was good to hear they are cool with me doing this. I didnt want to do something that may cost me in the end, I wanted to know that what I am doing is cool with them. I have them a really sweet set of African Blackwood stems going out Monday, I am gonna send it priority cause I am anxious to hear their thoughts.

I have not had time to make them available on my site yet, but hope to in the next week or two. If anyone is interested in getting an Ascent stem set pls let me know. I would love to get some out there for you all to try. As said above I am making them from the highest quality African Blackwood available, they are super dense and strong, they have an amazing finish that some of you may be familiar with on the Blackwood Solo stems. I am really having to take my time turning these pieces, the outer stem has a rather large draw hole with thin walls, its still pretty tuff but when you put enough pressure on it between centers of the lathe in order to turn it may split under the force. This is one reason I am putting a lip on the end of the stem instead of the rings. The walls are just too thin and cant handle the pressure, the lip adds a little more strength to the piece. I threw away several pieces and money at the same time figuring this out. The inner stem has a smaller draw hole as does the glass so it turns better as far as stability goes, I still have to take my time turning a little taking a hair off at a time when it gets close to the right size, mic it for the measurement, then take off another hair or two. The inner stem has to be exact so it will slide into the outer stem without any resistance. Its fun making these pieces but does take a little more time and patients. Anything worth having takes a little time and care, its alot like most everything in life, if you want to keep and hold on to something you better have patients and take time with it!

I have been here long enough, gotta process orders, check the bank, and answer emails and such. I appreciate you alls interest in my work and thank you for stopping by. Pls let me know if there is anything I can do! I wish you all well and hope you all have a great weekend!

After a cleaning accident left my PVHESGonG for my Solo with a sizable chunk of glass missing from the bowl section, I think I see a 2" Blackwood Solo stem for myself in the near future.

Has anyone had a chance to pick up the super-shorties Ed has in stock yet? I imagine it's nice not worrying about the piece breaking or the glass getting hot to the touch for my lips.

The wong that ed made me was only 1" long and I ended up using it as a dry stealth stem for the most part. It worked really well and I really liked it. Both the stem and the solo are gone now tho.

Good morning,

@Caligula, @Osn Dosn, @Reflections, I gave it try yesterday and put together an Enano stem. I was gonna try it like I did the CRZ stems and slide the SS tubing inside the wood stem. I got an Irwin drill bit, I dont really like the brand nor the price of the it, but got it anyway. I couldnt get the damn thing to drill true and precise. Oh it would drill a hole if thats all you needed was a hole, but it wasnt something you could count on. The hole was a slightly larger than it was supposed to be and the tubing would not fit nice and tight in the wood stem. I thought why not try it like a Solo stem, hmm why not. I cut another piece of Cocobolo, bored a smaller draw hole, turned it down to size and hammered it into the SS bushing. The wood shaft that slides inside the bushing goes about 1/2" and has a small lip on the inside of the bushing. This lip allows you to seat a screen in place just like in my Solo stems. The ID of the tubing is just under 3/8" so I punched out a 3/8" screen from a 3/4" screen. The screen is larger than the ID on the bushing and has to be pressed into place but once done it fits really tight and doesnt seem to need an internal retaining clip to hold it there. The bowl depth is 1/2" and provides plenty of space for a load. I crumbled up a load with my fingers and sucked the material in the stem like a straw. I like to set the Nano at 7, I place the tip of the stem just over the heat port and got some really nice clouds of vapor, pulling the stem off the heat port between draws and replacing it. The bushing got hot, hell its SS steel and is gonna get hot! It performed really well! I still have a thought of separation, I dealt with the issues on the Solo stems, once the metal got hot and wood tended to shrink slightly, the bushing would slip off, thats why I installed the pin in them. I didnt get any separation after a couple sessions using it. I got a rag in my hand and tried to pull the bushing off the wood shaft when it was hot but was unable to do so. The Solo and the Nano operate differently of course, but I am concerned with a potential separation, more testing is gonna have to be done. I really enjoyed making this stem and hope you all like what I have come up with. I really love my job! I get to make neat stuff and testing is always the best part!

@Maine420, right on!I am glad you are happy with the Solo stem and hope I can get ya a Nano stem soon. Hang in there with me, I hope testing goes well and look forward to offering them to you all! Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a great day!

@as, I am thinking the price is gonna be comparable to the prices of the Solo stems minus a couple bucks or so. As I said above, hang in there with me, I am anxious to hear you all thoughts of its use and cant wait to get them out there!

Do you think a high-temp silicone sleeve over the ss bushing would insulate fingers well enough from the extreme heat? Looks great!

Thats a damn good idea Snappo, I had thought about it last night just forgot all about this morning. A small silicone band could be wrapped around the bushing to avoid being burned by the metal. Good thinking bro!

I will give it a few more rounds today and you are right, I need to run the Nano at the highest temp to see if this may cause separation. I have some admin stuff to do this morning and will be getting in the shop later today for work and testing!

This is a bit off topic: I purchased a wood stem for my Arizer Solo from VaporStore.com; how do I know it's one of ED's wood stems. Also, I can run 2 to 3 sessions back to back with the OME glass piece, but I can't even run one session completely, with the wood stem, without the solo over heating and shutting down before the 12 minutes. The solo unit also gets very hot. Is there some type of trick that I'm overlooking. If you (Ed) don't put a little stamp or engraving on your original wood stems you should think about doing it. I would like to know I'm getting an original Ed's wood stem.

@Caligula, thanks for the kind words, I thought you would be happy about to hear this! I am glad you dig em and appreciate the kind words as always. Thanks for passing the word along, hopefully after some more testing you can tell everyone they are available.

@Ronp, I have thought about branding the stems a few times, you are exactly right though, how are you gonna know if you got an original Ed's TnT piece. I have only made them in a handful of species, the one you got from VaporStore is one of my dealers, its been a while since they last ordered, they must still have some. You probably have a Granadillo Solo stem, thats the only species I wholesale due to the cost of the others. Yours is probably dark brown with some black in it here and there, it looks alot like Hawaiian Koa. Its a very dense species and handles well for a Solo stem. If you check my website you will see the ones I regularly offer. I know of one store that has contracted a guy to copy my shit, the do em in walnut, cherry, and maple I think, I didnt see any exotic pieces. It took em a couple of years, but what one man can do, another can do! I have a tiny branding iron I may start doing this with, I will look into this, thank you for the suggestion. As far as the Solo getting too hot with the stem, I have only heard this happen to one other person. I run mine at heat setting 7, I like to get heavy rips from it, I have never had any issues with over heating. I know the SS bushing gets hot and will burn you if you are not careful, thats one of the tradeoffs for being unbreakable I guess. I could see the bushing maybe transferring heat over to the Solo casing if it was too close and was touching. I got an email from a customer saying this was happening to their Solo also, I have sold many and as I said this is only the second time I have heard this. I asked her to try various tests with the glass stem and the wood stem, at different settings and techniques. We discussed it a couple of times then I didnt hear anything back. Do you leave your stem in the unit the whole time you are using it? Do you remove the stem between draws to allow it to cool slightly? This may help to reduce the amount of heat that is transferred.

Does anyone else have any issues with the Solo getting too hot and overheating? I would like to know more about this! Does anyone have any advice for Ronp?

I see this is your first post here at FC, thanks for stopping by and doing it here! I hope you enjoy your time here and look to hear more from you.

You did not say what number you are vaping at.
Also... don't compare what you can do "back to back" with one piece... all pieces are entities unto themselves.
Back to back sessions make units hot.... VERY hot.. as well as cut down the number of sessions you get on a charge.
2 back to back sessions = 3 sessions of battery life done with unit cooled down.

SO.....
what level were you vaping at?

I all ways assumed that if the unit had to re heat it would use more battery vs back to back but back to back would be worse for battery life
