Can someone explain the pros/cons of the different stems? I'm trying to decide between the all glass or heavy glass - honeycomb screen for either.

I have the all glass heavy stem, which is great :)

Just got an email this morning to say I have a replacement dimmer and 18mm adjust-a-bowl gong in express post on the way to me! I'd say I'll have my Nano back in full rotation on Monday or Tuesday! So excited! :)

Does anyone ever notice vapor coming through the bottom of the gong, through whatever your packing , out the top of the gong ? I keep thinking I accidently combusted after hitting it particularly hard and seeing the vapor come out the top.

I have had this happen with my Lotus/WPA. It only seems to happen if I lightly scorch the top of the bud by overheating it (not quite enough to completely combust it though).

I use the all glass gong living in the uk i prefer it as it would cost to much to ship the screens to me

Yes! Besides, the screens don't need replacement that often! I use the adjust-a-bowl gongs, they are incredible! I can't wait to see what this 18mm one on the way to my place is like, the 14mm was sweet!

Hey guys, I was talking to Ed over at Ed's TNT. He is working on a Nano stem but needs someone to measure their newer version's heater core. I cant do this at the moment (plus I have an old unit). Here is what he asked for:

".... (can you get) exact measurements of the heat port OD? I need it in inches if possible to the .000"

TIA!

Did the heater cores change size? I thought I read something about it in the past but it can't be that much of a difference if all Nano's still use the same glass pieces, no?

@Caligula you want to measure yours so we can see the difference? I don't have anything to measure mine precisely enough as the display on my caliper measurement tool stopped working the other day :\

That's a nice setup! The worked glass compliments the Nano well, I need something like that in my life.

There ya go! Thanks for the info, this will be alota help! @Osn Dosn is this a new Nano or is it an early one? My heat port is the same size.

Nice, I'm really looking forward to seeing what you make.

Volute of Vapor
Did you notice there is a special t° spot between 7 and 7.5:

at 7 I get taste and clouds and abv comes out not really dark
at 7.25 I get big clouds and abv comes out like dark coffee
at 7.5 I start to get combustion, not really but the vapor smells and there is black spots in the abv

Now my better spot for flowers is between 7 and 7.25 through water and 7 when I vape dry.

I like the stems a lot cause it's like a blunt and it mimics the combustion habits, you can take a puff and put it down, for me it's really a game changer, this is the vape I was looking for!

I'm awaiting adjustabowls, screens and stems from Andy, I hope the Ajbowl helps me to pull the T° up without combustion (using screen as a spacer)...

I hate you for making me want a worked piece with this picture! Glass was always a fool's errand, but I can just imagine what the feeling would be like when a worked piece finally takes a crack or chip one day... Ouch!

That is a beautiful piece!

Wanted to share some good news from @Ed's TnT !

Good morning,

@Caligula, @Osn Dosn, @Reflections, I gave it try yesterday and put together an Enano stem. I was gonna try it like I did the CRZ stems and slide the SS tubing inside the wood stem. I got an Irwin drill bit, I dont really like the brand nor the price of the it, but got it anyway. I couldnt get the damn thing to drill true and precise. Oh it would drill a hole if thats all you needed was a hole, but it wasnt something you could count on. The hole was a slightly larger than it was supposed to be and the tubing would not fit nice and tight in the wood stem. I thought why not try it like a Solo stem, hmm why not. I cut another piece of Cocobolo, bored a smaller draw hole, turned it down to size and hammered it into the SS bushing. The wood shaft that slides inside the bushing goes about 1/2" and has a small lip on the inside of the bushing. This lip allows you to seat a screen in place just like in my Solo stems. The ID of the tubing is just under 3/8" so I punched out a 3/8" screen from a 3/4" screen. The screen is larger than the ID on the bushing and has to be pressed into place but once done it fits really tight and doesnt seem to need an internal retaining clip to hold it there. The bowl depth is 1/2" and provides plenty of space for a load. I crumbled up a load with my fingers and sucked the material in the stem like a straw. I like to set the Nano at 7, I place the tip of the stem just over the heat port and got some really nice clouds of vapor, pulling the stem off the heat port between draws and replacing it. The bushing got hot, hell its SS steel and is gonna get hot! It performed really well! I still have a thought of separation, I dealt with the issues on the Solo stems, once the metal got hot and wood tended to shrink slightly, the bushing would slip off, thats why I installed the pin in them. I didnt get any separation after a couple sessions using it. I got a rag in my hand and tried to pull the bushing off the wood shaft when it was hot but was unable to do so. The Solo and the Nano operate differently of course, but I am concerned with a potential separation, more testing is gonna have to be done. I really enjoyed making this stem and hope you all like what I have come up with. I really love my job! I get to make neat stuff and testing is always the best part!

This stem is made from the finest Nicaraguan Cocobolo, is 4" in length and is 7/16" OD.

You can find this post (with pictures) in Ed's thread.

Cruisin'
Ugh. Well, I just dropped my GonG, freshly loaded with the first bowl of the day. Slow motion exploded all over the filthy concrete floor of my garage. Such a poor start to my day. :bang:

It's lucky that I ordered a new GonG a few days ago. Maybe it was a premonition, who knows. The irony is that it is sitting at my local post office right now, and since today is Sunday, I guess today is the day I will learn to be patient once and for all. No problem, right? :ugh:

Ah whatever, not that big of a deal. Got my stem, got my portables. Main thing is that I just got this new glass a couple days ago, and I was really enjoying getting acquainted with it. It's basically a slightly smaller generic version of Caligula's big honeycomb tube. Milks up like a dream. Oh well, it can wait til tomorrow. I'll try to get some pictures up soon.

I have a feeling I better order at least 2 more GonGs now.. and it's always just when I start to think I am immune to dropping glass, you know? Can anyone comment on using an 18mm GonG vs. a 14mm GonG coupled with a reducer? I would assume it is not much of a difference, but I'm just curious since my new glass is 18mm, and so far I have been using 14mm through a reducer. I think I will probably order 1 of each just to have options.
