Can I have your trash? I bet I could make some badass canabutter with it.

Anyway I am currently lit via my new replacement, replacement Solo. Im falling in love with this vape all over again!

My E Nano is my go to device for the WT due to its raw power and relative lack of restriction... however I think I like the Solo better for dry.

Why? Taste at low temps is roughly the same (Nano gets the edge at high temp flavor extraction) and its much more convenient to be cordless if Im not going to be stationary with a large WT!

Combine that with the awesome vapor output and you have a real winner with the Solo.

Heh look at me, Im gushing like this is my first dance. I guess taking a break from a specific unit for a while can do that. Especially if that vape works as well as the Solo.

I do have a couple thoughts on my new unit. Now, I didnt have my previous replacement very long before it gradually stopped working properly (eventually producing only mediocre vapor even at level 7), so I was unable to test it much and compare it to my old model. Hopefully this one will last a but longer but ive already noticed that I can install a PV high temp oring on this unit (was impossible on my last replacement). With the oring installed, vapor gets SUPER thick. Thick enough that it made me cough on heat level 3.

Thats pretty damn impressive.

Even with a fresh, tight fitting oring, draw resistance is still slightly better (maybe equal to) than my original Solo unit without an oring. Arizer really did a good job at opening the air path up IMO. Also, this obviously means that draw resistance without an oring is noticeably reduced from previous Solo iterations.

Oh you may wonder why I want an oring on my 2 day old Solo. Funny thing, that... let me try to tell this story without making comparisons to the Human anatomy;

First thing I tried after charging my Solo and doing a burn off cycle or 2, was to load up a stock straight stem (RIP ).

The fit was tight as expected for an unused Solo, and the unit hit beautifully. Next up to bat was my new 18mm PVHE turbo shorty gong. Loaded that bad boy and stuck it into the Solo. It didnt want to go in at first but with some pushing and twisting, the Solo eventually accepted my shorty gong.

That worked beautifully too. Just an aside, the PVHE turbo shorty gong + the new Solo design set to level 6/7 + my honeycomb tube = white walls for 3 to 4 consecutive pulls! And with little to no noticeable restriction. But I digress...

After the session I tried to pull the gong out but found it to be stuck (in retrospect might have been better to let the glass cool and contract first)! I tried pulling, twisting, twisting and pulling... eventually I made some headway. Then I heard a little "pop". I thought I broke the gong.

I eventually get it out (after it cooled) and everything was intact. In fact I can now put the gong in without too much force (its still very snug).

All is well until I try to put in a stock stem. The stem literally drops in and rattles around inside the heater!

LOL.

I guess you can say that things got loosened up a bit when I stuck my shorty gong into my virgin Solo.

Anyway, I tried massaging my Solo's gasket back into shape with my finger and various toys tools, with no luck... so I decided to try installing a PV oring. Thankfully it fits on this unit unlike my last replacement (wouldn't thread the top with an oring)!

Now I kind of like it with the silicone instead of "all natural", plus it keeps my stem from flopping around.

Anyway, time for another stem!

:mmmm:

Hey all
So I haven't used my solo in about 5 months.

I am using a car charger in the house with a car-home adapter... I don't think that has anything to do with it though. It usuable... Just wont completely shut off.
Any ideas? Tried a reset but I don't think I did it successfully

I may be reading this wrong, but it's plugged into the adapter and won't shut off? That's what it's supposed to do.......

If it's still 'plugged in' all it does is go to idle, it has to be unplugged to shut off. Which it will do in 12 minutes 'worst case'......not including broken of course.

Is it connected to anything?

Very nice review!

Your comments on the NANO are interesting?

I love my NANO especially for water setups. The SOLO works very well on my smaller bubblers and the best combination for me is the SHERLOCK (JHOOK) attached to a ASH COLLECTOR. Speaking about water.

DRY I love the SOLO as well.
JHOOK only.(with PHVES or STOCK GonG)
Stock stem with a CHILLUM tip.
PHVES stem CHILLUM tip.
It's mostly fine without the CHILLUM however it's amuses me!

Not for everyone.
I like all my vaporizer's for different reasons!

The SOLO is so easy to walk into the garden sit down relax and vaporize away! (WET or DRY)
have you tried taking the battery out for a min or 2

Or send it back?

It stays flashes when unplugged. I use it.. Try to shut it off but it simply flashes idle. It won't completely shut off.

Both up and down keys work? That sounds like it hung up thinking it's in PA mode (or else it would time out at 12 minutes and go dark).

5 months of no use could have led to a deep discharge in the battery (the unit is never actually off if there's still a battery in it), perhaps it didn't restart well when you charged it back up?

I don't think the soft reset will help, it's lost somehow. Short of sending it in all I can come up with is a hard reset (pull the battery for a bit).

Bummer. Good luck with it.

I'm convinced about the wood stems, but the seals for the Solo I am not sure about. I'll have to receive and inspect my Solo before deciding on the thickness of the seal, right?

If you're planning on using one of Ed's stems full-time, a seal / o-ring will not be necessary. The stainless bowl of the stem is a good mechanical fit into the heating chamber of the Solo. The o-ring will just make it more difficult to insert and remove the stem.

However, if you plan to switch things up from time-to-time and want to use the stock glass stems, you *might* want an o-ring. Ed's stems are ever so slightly larger than the glass stems and I've found the stock seal in the Solo will stretch a bit to accommodate it. As a result you'll find your glass stems to be quite loose and the o-ring will take care of that.

hey so I"m not lucky enough like you guys to have tried, oil, concentrate, hash n stuff, so i was wondering the goo that is left behind in the stems if i scrape it out, is it usable? should I be putting it on a paper towel or something else? Is it worth to keep?

Hell yeah it's usable! Scrape it out and add to your stems! I prefer to roll it in kief first :smug:

Solod out.
About to break out the Solo. Been like a week. I recently quit smoking by using e-cigs, and to help with that i was smoking one joint a day instead of using my Solo. The rest of the day i just vape oil out of the pen, very portable + discreet. I miss my Solo though <3

hey fellas, just wanted to update the masses on my solo experience. In-credible. I havent been that high in forever, it was awesome. Worked effectively with me and two others, although I did notice us going thru our bud really fast (which I will get to later) but damn did we all get lifted, eyes bloodshot and low as hell, it was awesome. Had to charge the thing quite a bit but im sure that the case when your cyphing with 2 others that like to take little breaks between their pulls. Stem fits nicely (M1E1), although its getting a tad bit looser then when i first bought it, it seems to me that the curved stem is what expands that ring so I stick to the straight stem. Heats up real quick only takes a little longer from level 1 to 2 but after that the thing just heats up super quick. Was concerned about the smell and trying to mask it before i bought it but i am no longer paranoid about the smell, the only thing that smells is your bud before you vape it, anything you exhale just blow out the window and your gravy. vaped bud smells like popcorn (which idk why but i like the smell of it). also a really good idea would be to get like a peppermint oil and vape a drop or two with it, itll have your solo, breath, and the air smelling like mint. very easy to clean. I heard a lot about draw resistence but honestly i didnt really feel any. you can take slow soft hits that will produce vapor even on level 3 and 4 (Screens greatly increase vapor production imo), but my friend was taking real heavy drags (idk if that damages it or not), and while yes the temp did decrease during his drag, he was exhaling crazzzyy amounts of vapor. While i have been tasting the bud it doesnt really taste sweet or anything but thats prob just the bud i had (lol OG Skywalker?). any advice or preferences on the kind of bud i should be using for better taste? In conclusion, i love this shit and will deff be using for a long time. Great investment.

Quick question tho, going back up to where i stated that we run out of bud real quick. How dark do you guys have your bud until you know its time to dump it? pictures would be a great help also. Thanks guys for swaying me to buy this thing. LOVE IT.

@Haymaker94 good to hear you had a gravy sesh with it, if you got one of the newer models they opened up the airflow a bit more so you probably aren't getting that thicker draw like I am with mine. Heating from 1 to 2 is the biggest incremental temp jump, I think it goes up like 200 degrees from there and every other level is around 5-10 degrees difference or so. No, drawing hard on it won't break anything, just make the heater work a bit more to offset the temp difference (pulling harder = more cool air going through to be heated). I've also noticed that sativas have a nicer taste, indicas seem more earthy/skunky, sativas can be more candy-like (J-1 and Jack Herer come to mind). I dunno when my bud is done, I usually pack a stem and either vape it up to 4 and then save it for later, or go up to 7 (with water path), once it's thoroughly browned I'll call it quits. I don't get all of the vapor out of it, if I pack some stems with my "level 7 done" material I can still get vapor but it's minimal and blue, tastes bad/off even through my beaker to showerhead bong. At that point it's not really worth going further for me, sure you can get more vapor but to get the same effects you'd have to vape more than one stem for sure. I like saving my "up to level 4" material separately, packs a nice CBD/CBN punch without much or any of the THC affecting me (since we've vaped it away).

Think I'll go in on a few stems before bed, gotta wake up early-ish tomorrow (my sleep-in day) and get some errands taken care of. Gonna dip into that level 4 stuff, should make for some

Man am I happy I went with the solo for my first. Its great to be able to have the control while im learning. For instance I really cant do Jack Herrer above a 2 or I get a very racing heart and spent the next 2 hours muttering to it that it needs to calm down. But then I have the joy of trying strawberry cough at 3 after a few draws on level 2 which gave me more relief from that seizure feeling in my stomach.

Still building a tolerance so I can medicate to better relief but the temp control lets me do that more comfortably. And I have to say since I got my screens wow what a difference in the straight stem! I had only been using the curved because I don't have the lung power to get a decent draw on the straight even with a loose bowl. Since I found some makeshift caps I keep each stem loaded with something different so im not having to load every time I want a different strain.

Wish my dispensary hadn't run out of three of the 4 strains I wanted to try :( I was looking forward to playing with them now that ive got the flow issue sorted.

Ahh I couldnt really describe the taste but Earthy is perfect. Kinda piney. But hey it got the job done. Thing that sucks about living here in NYC is that you dont get much of a choice of what you get. Been doing bud for about 4 and a half years now, and i never really had the choice. Sucks, I know.

I dunno when my bud is done, I usually pack a stem and either vape it up to 4 and then save it for later, or go up to 7 (with water path), once it's thoroughly browned I'll call it quits.

Yeah 4 seems to be the sweet spot for me. Good clouds, good taste, good effects. Ill sometimes bump it to 5 for an extra kick. I stay away from 7 for the most part cuz it is a battery DRAINER. Now as for the browned bud... I know there are uses to it, could you just eat it? Im thinking about throwing it in some food, wont even know its there. But I just dont wanna be the dumbass who eats the shit when it has no effect that way lol.

Errrr CBD/CBN? Whats that?

I have one of Ed's TNT "Blackwood" stems and quite simply I will not use the Solo without it.

Another thing I like about Ed's stems is the stainless steel bowl with it's integral snap ring to hold the screen in place. I like to change out my screens once a month or so (instead of just cleaning them) and I like the security the snap ring provides. It makes cleaning the stainless-steel bowl with a small wire brush a "snap". (pun intended)
I replaced my screen at least once a week, but mostly a couple times a week. While I found the ring to be a nice touch, I generally left it off because it made changing screens a PITA. Mine fit so tight, it had to be pried out! Honestly, never had a problem with screens falling out without it...just wanted to mention.

I apologize in advance for not reading all 995 pages, and I can't seem to find a search function.

I am pretty much sold on the Arizer Solo as my first vaporizer. I have one question that I have not found the answer to.

I do not expect to use it daily. Can I load it up and, take a few hits (I have not smoked in many, many years), and turn it off for a few days or even weeks? Or do I need to unload it?

Thanks.

Sure, you could do that. Won't stay as fresh that way, but you could pull the stem out and put a plastic cap over the bowl with the herb in it. (Lots of people do that way to always have it ready to vape.) Loading-unloading the Solo is a snap though. I usually just put unground bud in the bowl, works great that way.

the bowl doesn't hold a lot, and you don't have to fill it all the way
