I have another PHVES stem to fit as well. This one was stock. I like both PHVES and STOCK stems.
I did bring in a clean stem and a OMICRON TIP to the LSS (Local Smoke Shop) I don't need this because I have one already however it's kind of fun!

So I'm considering buying a Solo and the one issue holding me back are the older reports that there's a loose stem issue. Is that still a problem with the newest serial numbers or was it a problem afflicting only a few people? Also, what are people's thoughts on Ed's wooden Solo stems? I remember reading that some people found the shape of the stem to be detrimental to vapor density and even instances of the metal chamber separating from the wood when still hot.

With my newer model Solo the stem is still a bit wobbly, but not as wobbly as my older model. What I like best is the airflow has been improved from the older model. I was using a PVHES stem from Planetvape while using my older model solo, it makes the airflow perfect for me.
You can't go wrong buying a Solo, a very superior portable vaporizer wobbly stem and all. You can get a o-ring to use with your Solo that will help with the stem.
I don't need to use the PVHES stems with my new solo. But others may feel like they inhance their experience.
I ordered the Granadillo stem by Ed from PIU but they are back ordered. Check out his Thread Ed's TnT Wood Stems. I'm anxious to try it out.

Install a seal under the cap.
If you order the PHVES stem it comes with one.
Don't dwell on the serial numbers!
I read some members experiencing stem looseness after several uses with the new revised units. Some modify the seal to be slightly thinner to set cap on securely!
I added seals to all 3 of my SOLO's.
Then again I have the older units.
I would buy a new SOLO however it would be like buying a 4th car of the same model because it has different wheel covers!

I have one of Ed's TNT "Blackwood" stems and quite simply I will not use the Solo without it.
I've been using Ed's TNT stem on a daily basis for several months now. The other night, I got home late from the hospital and thought I'd use my stock glass stem for a little vaporizing before bed. From the first draw, I noticed the increased restriction and I just didn't like it. The increased airflow that Ed's stem provides was sorely missed.
Another thing I like about Ed's stems is the stainless steel bowl with it's integral snap ring to hold the screen in place. I like to change out my screens once a month or so (instead of just cleaning them) and I like the security the snap ring provides. It makes cleaning the stainless-steel bowl with a small wire brush a "snap". (pun intended)
Lastly, the wood mouthpiece gives the stem an "organic" feel while also staying cool to the touch. And when Ed attaches the wood mouthpiece to the stainless-steel bowl, he locks the two pieces together with a metal dowel. There is absolutely no chance of the two pieces separating.

I have a wood stem from Ed and used a couple of times over the last 2 years.
I bought it because I broke stems weekly. While I was waiting for more glass to arrive from CANADA I got the Wood stem to keep medicating.
It's very pretty and got me through a difficult time. However now I have lots of glass. The flavor is so pure and I like the "ORGANIC" flavor of the CANNABIS strain I'm medicating with. Glass does not interfere with the flavor profile as wood does.
Wood is more durable for sure.
Glass is more fragile no doult.
If durablity is your priority go with Wood!
If Flavor is your priority go with Glass.
Like I have said before we all have different priorities.
ORGANIC flavor comes from CANNABIS not the device accessories!
If restriction is your issue then why don't you have a PHVES? I have both because depending on the cure of the flower determines if I use the STOCK or PHVES version?

To be fair he said "organic fell" not taste of the stem (wich IMO is miner)
I love the organic fell and look of my eds stem
It's the same with my nano the wood just bring a pice to life
I will not travel with my solo with out wood what if I was ou and I only had glass and being me I broke it old be fucked well if I have my wood with me I am not braking shit
The solo is a portable for me wood is the way to go

Thanks everyone for the helpful advice. I've emailed Ed about availability and I'll give him a call later today. I'm convinced about the wood stems, but the seals for the Solo I am not sure about. I'll have to receive and inspect my Solo before deciding on the thickness of the seal, right?
just to say with no oring my eds stem will not come out unless you pull it out it is very tight stock stem will full out upside down and is very lose
my eds stem is also more restricted then stock stems think thats just my stem tho most seam to say that eds stems are less restricted then stock
i like the extra restriction tho most i would think would prefer less restriction im just different and thats how i like it

So I haven't used my solo in about 5 months. Yesterday I charged it off and started vaping. The problem is that the unit won't shut off. I attempt to power it off, it stops heating, but the blue idle light continues to flash. It has been flashing for 12 hours! I am using a car charger in the house with a car-home adapter... I don't think that has anything to do with it though. It usuable... Just wont completely shut off.
Any ideas? Tried a reset but I don't think I did it successfully

I won't leave my house with a flower vaporizer. I'm afraid for messing up my life with legal trouble and possible jail time or prison.
While boating a wax pen is safe and easy to keep on the down low. To vaporize flower in public is very careless here in the USA. Legal in some states however the federal government still list cannabis as a schedule one drug.
If your in a different country or flavor is of no concern go for it.
I enjoy the art of medicating in the comfort of my dwelling!
I personally have sensitive taste buds.

I have more expensive glass pieces.
However I use this cheap one everyday!
Works well with a SOLO.
I add a ash collector to work with more powerful devices.
if i could get wax i would have a oil pen and it would be all i would take with me i cant tho i can make my own now and then but not all the time so flowers is what i have to vape most of the time

For the last couple of years I vape alone. Most of my friends still roll JOINTS and think vaporizers are a waste of money and too much trouble. So I vaporize alone.
For them they consume 30 grams a week were lately I only need 5 grams per week. That's not counting SHATTER.
