@MileHighLife Tagged again! You've got the only pic of a DBV with a wood knob and I want one so... I might attempt some vicarious futzing.
:haw:
Maybe kind of ambitious, but you could get the same effect as the following pics. I'll bet both are from toothpicks. Guess you'd need a legit chisel for the first one to keep it shallow and straight... Or for a notch with a dremel wheel, notch deep on the edge and fill with a thin ply of wood, then shape to the profile of the knob. In a parallel dimension, I'm probably making one right now, but in this one, my ebay DBV arrived DOA and I ordered a VAP2 :goat:

I told the seller I'd accept the item as "needs repair" if he refunds me half. I'm hoping he accepts the offer because I really want to open this thing up and see what's wrong with it. And buy some custom knobs.

mmmm knobs. :mmmm:

I just received a blemished unit from 7th Floors and couldn't be happier. I read all 138 pages while waiting. Here is what I have gathered.
I thought it would put out big clouds but I am happy to report I am blowing out the big clouds.

Turn it down!

Give it the wa-wa suck (Like a milkshake ) each stop and go clears the chamber.

Draw less (3/4 of the way. Save some room for the hold.) and hold longer.

Reset the knob to your sweet spot. (Good taste 11:30, Good clouds {from you} 12:30, Finish up final clouds with no black residue 1:30

Don't feel compelled to consume the whole thing at once. That is a holdover from combustion days. You can walk away and come back as often as you like.

If you are coughing you are not enjoying the miracle.

Different materials require different heating spots.

Just wanted to add Stir, Stir Stir. (after every 3 hits)
When you are doing it right you get a collection of little stems. It is sort of like you are boiling the good stuff right off the bones. (forgive me, I am reading S Kings Dr Sleep, Don't get me started on "Steam".)

TeeJay1952,
is a great vaporizer for the person on a budget.

while it does have a less desirable vapor to air ratio than the ssv, it still delivers a very strong hit.

I recently sold my DBV in order to gather enough money to buy the VaporBrothers.

First and foremost: Efficiency! Let me explain.

The DBV does not evenly vaporize your material. This is due to the following factors. If you compress the herb into the the wand too much the air doesn't really flow evenly. If you leave it loose it still drops all material along the bottom of the wand which burns material unevenly. You are somewhat obligated to pack the herb into the wand quite tighter than ideal.

I know this doesn't happen on the SSV or silver surfer, because of its improved angle. However there is another very big problem! Even with the SSV. The metallic screen gets very dirty very quickly!!!!!! It is very difficult and troublesome to remove screen from the wand in order to clean it thoroughly. If you dont clean the screen thoroughly every 4 bowls or so you end up with the screen pretty clogged even the SSV cannot vaporize herb evenly when that screen is clogged all over. Of course the DBV has the same issue with screen clogging quickly.

Besides these unacceptable hassles, the temperature control!? It's so drastic and excessively hot, makes it impossible to calibrate the temperature in workable settings. How does this affect the efficiency of my vape? I ended up going through the same amount of material with way fewer clouds on the DBV and feeling a lot less medicated.

This ultimately translates to the fact that I get about 15 solid, milky draws out of 0.25 grams of material with the Vapor brothers unit. Pretty consistently. Most of the times I am more than satisfied with one bowl.

With the DBV I would get 5-7 draws if I'm lucky and usually the last 2 or 3 drags kinda thinner than the first 3 or 4. I often wanted a second bowl. In the midst of these frustrating bowls I'd soon have to worry about cleaning screens again!!!!

True connoisseurs know that there are two ultimate machines in the vape world. The Volcano for Balloons and the Vapor Bros. for whip

No trolling. Please do not make posts that disrupt the peace and harmony of this board. Don’t post for or the purpose of starting a dispute. Warning point issued.
True connoisseurs would seatel for no less then all glass air path
I'm sensing defensiveness and fanaticism from 7th floor fans. You like your reality? keep it!!

My only objective is to give accurate information to someone who may be wanting to spend their budget on a new vape.

In these forums people tend to state their opinions emphatically and give few to none facts.

Also my post might help someone with a high tolerance like myself who doesnt want to spend $600 a month buying their medical flowers, as I was spending when vaporizing on DBV. Now I spend $250 with the vapor bros.

Until you guys can give me facts to contradict my experience, you are just bitterly bashing my posts. Perhaps you are doing this to compensate for your own insecurities/dissatisfactions with your SSV or DBV machine. I have compassion for you. I was in your situation for longer than I would've liked.

For those of you who are interested in discovering the truth, I encourage you to try both machines for a month and then decide based only on your experience.

If anyone else has facts and experience to help me understand why the 7th floor machine is better please reply to my post.

I guess I was wrong about my true connoisseurs statement. Still I'd rather live with a metal screen keeping my material evenly vaped and the airflow not being pure glass, than to spend an extra $350 a month burning/wasting material.

Really.

MysticVaper,
hahahhahahah tk god I'm well medicated with my VP and skunky cali og!!

Can't you 7th floor fanatics speak facts?

Oh, maybe that's a very new language to you.

Keep bashing on my 3 posts.

Hold on tight to your one and only fact!

Hey Mystic,

Those are the two worst vaporizers on the market. And i don't own a DBV anymore.

Funny how you consider yourself a true conoisseur and chose those two POS.

Perhaps you should try the EVO, the Herbalizer, the Nano, the Lotus, the HI, just to name a few before spending 200USD on a vape that lets your herb fall into the element and 400USD on a balloon vape that is a one trick pony that thinks he's still a race horse.
I feel for you man. Delusional much? haha.

Dear Vorrange,

I very much appreciate your informative response. I will look into those vapes you mentioned and update you guys. I hope you understand that I would never mean to offend you or anyone else by any means. I just have a very strong personality when it comes to expressing my experiences. Also this very issue has directly affected my budget mainly because of all the misleading information out there. Cool looking dudes who claim to be authorities in the vaporizer world are bashing the Vapor Brothers units and praising the "magic" of the 7th floor, to the disadvantage of us rookie inexperienced vapers who might be on a tight budget. I hope you can understand why I have so much emotion linked to this issue.

As to your insensitive statement about me being delusional, get a shrink or something bro...

Mystic, lose the atitude and talk like a grown up and perhaps people will respond accordingly... bro.

7th floor has better units IMO and many here. If you have a different opinion, fine.

You're the one who's bashing on our opinions. When no one asked you what you thought of it.

really??? 3 posts as a newbie and that is what you come up with???
And the posts are in the DBV thread.. slamming the DBV, and extolling other vapes.
I use those other vapes also.... but to be fair.. MysticVaper .... you should be in the threads of your preferred vapes showing them some love, rather than here talking shit.

in case you later wonder.
I confess... I hate a poor sport.

I have not bashed anyone's opinions or at least it has not been my intention.

I believe this forum is used by a lot of newbies like myself. I simply want to inform them of the disadvantages of the DBV in case they are considering purchasing one. I believe the FC is here for us to share our experiences and opinions freely. In whatever thread we choose to. Perhaps I'm incorrect about that. Please correct me if I'm wrong and i will stop posting on the DBV thread.

My purpose here is not to sit and argue with 7th floor fans. It is simply to express my opinions in full detail as to the disadvantages I experienced when I owned the DBV.

Perhaps I never learned how to appropriately use the DBV. If anyone who likes the DBV can give me factual, practical information as to what I did wrong when I used the DBV that is also welcome.

My understanding is that we all have different personalities and express ourselves differently. Perhaps one of the things that makes the world a beautiful place. Though you may be of the opinion that praising and agreeing with everyone and everything is a great trait for a person to have, i believe we learn from each others honesty. I see no problem seeking to hear experts' experiences with a vaporizer that never worked for me and impacted my budget negatively. I must confess... I kinda hate Chameleon people.

Vitolo already pointed out one of your errors. Do not post in a thread solely for the purpose of attacking the company or product. You are not free to choose whatever thread you like. We have rules and guidelines that you are supposed to have read when you registered, since by joining you agreed to them. The moderators will move or delete your off-topic posts.

FC is here for sharing opinions and information, but we do it politely. If you have an opinion to express, do it respectfully and not with arrogance. Do not enter a thread and make condescending remarks about those posting in it. Read the rules carefully and try to follow them. Your next point gets you a three day suspension.

Dear Pakaolo,

Nothing I have posted had the purpose of attacking the product. I have expressed my opinions in a very aggressive style, while at the same time seeking explanations or experiences from others, which may have been enlightening to me. I greatly support the job of the moderators and would welcome them removing any of my posts that seem to them inappropriate.

I apologize if my post seemed arrogant, perhaps that is a character defect of mine. I will try to improve that on future posts. As to the condescending remarks, it was my impression that other more seasoned members of your forum began making them towards me. Yes I responded to them in like manner and that was a mistake on my part. I will see to it that it doesn't happen again.

Thanks for your feedback.

Sorry Paka, you're right.

Mystic, if i had to guess i'm thinking you overfilled your bowls and used a draw that is too fast. Plus, i don't think you stirred often.
Please tell me if i'm wrong, i'm assuming this based on what you have implied by your spoken disadvantages regarding the DBV.

On top of that, i have to say the DBV is NOT the ideal unit if you plan to use little material. It is however a great big hitter if one learns to use it well.

Let me tell you this is the reason why i sold it, i always tended to use too much if it was my daily driver, and sometimes the wand gets stuck and it is not as easy to setup as a log vape which has a similar thick hit with a much smaller quantity. Which is perfect for efficiency.

So, different units for different purposes.

Thanks for your reply man. I tried filling the bowl with amounts from 0.1g to 0.3g none of them gave me more than 6 decent draws. As to the speed of drawing, I have become accustomed to a wide range of drawing speeds in my relatively short experience with multiple herbal vaporizers and I still couldnt get more than 7 draws max out of a bowl (my main dissatisfaction). I actually stirred the bowl after every draw toward the end of my using it.

In due fairness, the quality of vapor from DBV was great just not the efficiency. In that note, May I ask what is a log vape setup? haven't heard of it before but definately sounds like something i might benefit from. Looking forward to your response.

Some of these vapes you mention are way above my budget. What whip unit would you recomend for $200 range? Don't remember saying I considered myself a connoseur (I did infer it, cus I was being a prick. lol). I was delusional stating that the volcano and VP are kings lol ;) tks for the reminder.

Most "connoiseurs" steer away from whip and bag vapes. EV-2 by epic vape is in your price range as they are half off right now. They can be used as direct draw, whip or through water so they're pretty versatile.

The DBV does not evenly vaporize your material.

Could it be operator error?
I personally get get extraction and very evenly baked abv.
I might stir once after hitting it about 20+ times.
but thats only if im able to pick up my hands to do so. Usually i cant move at that point though and fall asleep. Lol
I think its cool you like the vapor bros tho.
I just disagree that connoisseurs would agree with your last statement.

Mystic, maybe if you describe your technique in some detail we can have an adult conversation about why many people have an experince that is so much different from yours. To your points. Uneven and poor extraction: I discovered after a while that the dbv has a hot spot in the middle of the bowl where the center gets cooked faster than the edges. Hence the need to stir for more even extraction. On the screen getting dirty. Yes, thats going to happen, but changing the screen isnt really very difficult if you have a couple of chopsticks. Fold the screen in a taco shape, slide it in from the top and balance it with your chopstick at the opposite end. On the temperature. IMO, the temperature range is one of the advantages of the dbv. I like starting at around 11 for flavor and going up for better extraction, ending at around 1 o'clock. It will combust if you crank it up and draw slow. I think less is more with the dbv and ssv and fill the bowl about 1/4 of the way, and just tamp it slightly. The herb always seems to stay put. I also use a GonG adapter and run it through a straight tube, which enhances my experience.

Very much appreciate your pointing me to EV-2 it looks like a great vape. Do you know if it works well with a small load in the chamber? Which one do you think would be better for me the EV-2 or the Underdog? Somebody recently said UD is the best at conservation/efficiency (my main focus). Have you heard of the UD? Anyone?
