Trying a couple old power cubes from modems and such. The unit heats, and produces vapor, but nothing like videos. Also no visabke vapor in my glasswear at all. None in stems......I've tried the GonG and the stock glass. I tried adding a silicone tube to the bottom like the old straws....all of it nada. Really hoping its the wall cube. I really like this little guy. I don't want to send it back!

It could be your herb, the stuff I had a week ago created huge clouds for awhile, the current strain I have creates light vapor I can see through on 13.4v, what stems are you using and how much are you loading. Are you getting dark brown abv?

EDIT:
Just did a pull at 12.8 and saw no vapor in the water pipe but exhaled light vapor.
Boosted back to 13.4, like no change, It became moderately translucent entirely different from the white walling I was doing a few days ago.

I can't clearly see what setting your multimeter is on but the stock wall-wart is an AC unit so the meter has to be set to AC voltage or it will return a bad reading.

OK ilk try it again...one sec

Now I really don't know what to make of things.....I'm getting 15.24v on AC. I just hope the secondary supply I'm trying has better results....

Edit...
Whoooooo with the routers power supply I see a TINY bit of vapor in the glass. I have hope!

Grind consistency plays in a lot with the underdog too. I like a medium fine grind for the most milk ... my large 2 pc scs gives the perfect consistency.

Another thing ... less bud = more milk a lot of the time.

Try positioning the screen so it is just a little below the heater when the heater is inserted and fill only to the top of the basket screen with medium fine ground herb. That should be a good place to start then experiment from there.

I highly recommend getting a vvps ... after fine tuning the flavor from this vape is incredible!

Keep at it ... you'll get it. Then you'll love your pup

Careful using that router power supply.. fine for testing but if you run the Dog with it for any significant time it very well might burn the power supply out. Lots of times a router power supply can't provide enough power to an UD and will overheat after a while. Just a quick FYI.

I just got a care package out in the mail for you that absolutely should get you up and running, let me know when it arrives and we'll talk about what the various bits are for and how they're going to make things awesome for you.

I'm using a large SCS too! I am already looking at vvps.....any suggestions?
I will definitely be playing with load size and screen placement more too. I'm gonna try your suggestions in a minute here!

Just like to say thank you to @underdog. He has been great in helping me today, and I really appreciate it.

Also @z9 and the other guys who helped....thanks! I was going crazy, and you helped me stay sane. Good deal.

Super happy that its working....even if on a router power supply.....and I can't wait to see how it functions on the new one UD sent out (damn they are so fast!).

Really impressed right now.

Edit....gonna wait to use my dog until the new power cube is here. I don't care about damaging my cube....but I'm nit gonna risk my dog. Better safe than sorry.

=)

Great Sleepin, glad you're having some limited success with the temp solution (router PS) and that we can get you to hold on while we straighten things out for you. I know it's frustrating to get a new exciting thing and then have it not work how it's supposed to or how you imagined it would. With each one of our pieces being completely handmade and a one of a kind sometimes one will turn out to run a little cool or a little hot. We'll get it dialed in for you though and you'll be fogging things up like the rest of the Dogs here.

To the rest of you guys I just want to say thanks for the great sense of community you always show here on this thread and how you always do your best to help out your fellow Dogs. It's really a great thing and makes the time we spend participating in this community all that much more worthwhile and I really appreciate it.

I'm going to head to the shop and make some more Dogs now so our pack can continue to grow but I'll check back in here every few hours just in case someone needs something. :peace:

Hey Dave, when you get a chance, would you care to explain the 20 ohm resistors on your site "for experimenting.."? What kind of experimenting?:brow:

Sure, I'm always getting emails from people who want to repair an old Log Vape and are looking for advice and/or parts. In the past I've pointed them to vendors where they can buy parts and a lot of them have responded asking if I can't just sell them what they need.. so I'm now trying to oblige.

To that end I put the classic Log Vape 20ohm resistors up on the site, with or without extended leads. I also put up short lengths of solder, power plugs, leather swatches and the other little do-dads one might need for such work.

We also get an occasional email from people who want the parts to try and build their own vape or who are trying to convert 120v devices to 12v devices and they can use these parts as well.

On the subject of this kind of stuff - a couple years ago I was doing a lot of PD repairs for people until it got to the point that it was taking up too much of my time and the condition of the aging PDs was frequently dropping to unrepairable levels so I stopped. People have continued to ask me and until recently I was turning them away.

Now we've been allowing people to send in an old PD (or other similar Log) and we are completely rebuilding them. That's taking it all apart, cleaning up the core, making a new wooden body in a similar size/shape to the original and reinstalling the core for them.

I've also been modifying some PD cores for people and putting them in new bodies. The modified cores are taken apart, polished to remove all the accumulated grime/gunk (and the damn black oxide from the parts Tom used) then the outer sleeve is cut down to more closely match the length of the internal core. Then everything is reassembled, the core outer sleeve welded in place, the cross bar welded in place, a bottom cover made and welded in place and a debris screen inserted in the center tube. The end result is a more robust, more enclosed, screened hybrid PD core.

I've been doing the above and installing them in new bodies for people or just returning the core to them so they can build the vape of their choice around it.

Here's a picture of a hybrid PD core for anyone interested in seeing how they come out. Sorry I don't have a non-modified one handy for comparison.

Whew, didn't mean to type that much.. dang it Lampshade why'd you get me started lol.

Alright lunch break is over, back to work for this Dog. :peace:
I should've warned you I have an addiction to information. My curiosity can overwhelm me sometimes, and sometimes it can overwhelm others :D.

On that note, I'm curious about what's safe to clean my pup with? Is 99% rubbing alcohol okay? I'm a little bit of a germaphobe, you see.

Huh, good question. Lucky you went with matte finish on your Pup then cause the ISO (rubbing alcohol) would dissolve the semi-gloss finish right away.

The ISO will also strip the matte finish off but it's just underbutter so you can wipe the UD down with an ISO rag and then reapply the underbutter no worries. If you don't reapply the underbutter the ISO cleaning will really quickly dry the wood out something fierce though so keep that in mind. :2c:

Alright Dogs I'm clocking out for a few hours.. talk to you all later. :peace:

Would someone care to comment on the differences, advantages and disadvantages of the e-nano vs. the UD?

I am a relatively new vaper trying to decide between the two. I am most concerned with efficiency/conservation comparisons between the two, as this is my main priority right now. To save money by having to buy less herb.

I've owned both, and found them to be about equal when it comes to efficiency/conservation. There are differences between the two, but they function essentially the same. Both are great for beginners or experts.

If you want temp control beyond your own technique, the UD needs a VVPS. The mini VVPS and the Voltage Keeper are made by forum members and have received very good reviews.

One has a dimmer switch?

I run my UD through a power strip, with 2 extensions. My pup ran hot and needed a long leash to be tamed. It's been a few months now, and the love affair continues.

A log is a must have for any vaporist. Superb vapor production with minimal amounts. For the true "connoisseur".

Which is one of the main reasons why I love my UD so. Only a few weeks in, and it's already my favorite solo vape machine. I can just sit there for 10 minutes or so, slowly enjoying each intake, and overall use much less than I do with a glass pipe and lighter. I've had no problems whatsoever getting nice clouds of vapor with the standard power supply. Love my dog!

I actually just placed an order for a small glass water pipe from Chunky's, so that I can use the gong piece to smoother effect. Can't wait to try it out!

update on the eucalyptus oil spill: i'm pleased to report the oil has burned off and left no lingering flavor/aroma. in fact, i forgot about the oil spill and was completely absorbed in the vibrant terpene profile of a well-cured tangelo flower.

for the future answer seekers: spilling oil into your dog is no big deal! just let it burn off for a couple days and fire away.

Whats up Dog lovers? I recently contacted @Ed's TnT about a stem for my new dog. If any of you guys/gals like your nylon stems, and perhaps would like a wooden stem for your dog, i highly recommend contacting him. Enough talkin, just check it out.

Nice looking stem there Kid.. glad you were able to get one. Is that brass Eds using for tips?

@ the_cascadian - awesome, thanks for the update dude, I was hoping that would be the case.
