I suggest you try it without the cans. They were originally marketed as concentrate only you know.

I think most owners share my view for using bud the cans are kind of a joke?

I did try it but i don't want it to get dirty and I always remembered how my magic flight wouldn't work as well after long usage and of it getting dirty. So I want to keep my DV top notch. If there is a way to get the DV to work with herbs in the can? Like do I have to break it down into powder form or what? My seconf question is how durable is the trench? Is it weak? Can brushing it to much break the screen?

I've been stuffing herb in the chamber of the DV for 5-50 sessions a week for over a year and a half with Zero problems, All you have to do is brush off the top screen after each bowl and clean out the bottom of the chamber when buildup starts to bother airflow(and that's every 4-5 months for me).
Keep it clean and it'll work great loading the herb directly into the chamber the way it was designed to work.

The cans were for oil and wax and don't even work well for that since the temp on the DV was lowered to 405f. Stuff that DV and get that BIG Buzz instead of a mini buz.

Thank you! But then how do I use the extra screens? What are they for? And what are some tips I can use thm for the DV

I get what you're thinking, but your logic is flawed. MFLB is a conduction vape. Davinci is a convection vape. They work in two different ways. Contamination on the hot part (the screen) in MFLB insulates (slows heat transfer). Contamination in DV (or other convection vapes) is cosmetic at worst.

In one the work (heat transfer) is done by direct contact like a fry pan. In the other it's done by heating air elsewhere and forcing it past the cold stuff (like a convection oven). Consider that oven, it can be filthy dirty inside and still cook a great turkey for dinner (absent bad smells of course). in DV, same as the convection oven, the heat transfer rate is fixed by temperature and volume of air moved.

Check out the carts for HA and Pinnacle and I think you'll see the important difference.

What you've done, essentially, is blocked heat flow to the load......with the expected (and routine) results. If you read this thread you'll find you're not the first to try this and that those who have tried abandoned it for just this reason.

You don't find the maker recommending putting bud in the cans? That's a clue. Vapes where this scheme does work, like Pinnacle and Herbal Aire, have carts with mesh bottoms and very low mass (meant to pass lots of hot air and not rob heat), not so here.

Good luck with it, but frankly right now I think you're goofing yourself up.

Also how do I clean the trench? Iso? How durable is it? Can I damage it easly?

I don't think this is the proper place for that, it rightly belongs in the MFLB thread? You'll find it discussed in great detail there, many times in fact, as well as being well supported by a Wiki page. Repeating that information here is a waste of bandwidth and member's time???

MFLB care is not a simple answer, you really do need to research it I think.

I'm sorry I meant on how to clean my DV. That was a great answer! Very informative. I'm really excited about using my DV over a long period of time!

I think the most useful technique is to keep it dry going in. This mostly prevents it from getting dirty in the first place. A tip that does carry over to MFLB (and lots of other vapes). Moisture seems to really contribute, keep it out and you end up with dry stuff left that doesn't stick.

Condensate fouls the area of DV above the load (as it always will?). My technique calls for keeping after that. Every few loads I check it to be sure it's clear and not getting sticky. I flame the screens and wipe down the threaded areas when it starts to build up so I'm never faced with heavy draws and stuck parts. Likewise I never use the straw as a handle, never. And I unscrew and check it after use often enough so it never gets sticky up that high. Usually this is stuff I do when I recharge it (every several loads).

I like mine but have to say that since I got the Solo it doesn't see much use. FWIW DV always seems like 'an electric Iolite' to me?

Enjoy the DV.

What are extra screens for? Also I like going on walks and vaping. So the solo isn't designed for outside public portability. Thank you again though for your help!

One of the best ways to keep it clean is to empty it out while the unit is still running hot. I find if you leave a load in the chamber and let it come back to temperature that's when the most goo builds up and hunks up the chamber. If it's hot it falls right out. I have the ascent and as of right now I prefer the DV when it comes to vapor production. The ascent just doesn't really have it IMO. just make sure your herb is fairly dry and ground up medium fine to fine and you'll be good to go. Don't worry about the cans.

Even with careful cleaning you will sometimes need to replace a screen either in the screw on top chamber or in the bottom of the herb chamber. There is also a tiny third screen in the top near were the mouthpiece screws in that I just leave out.

What are extra screens for?

How do you replace the bottom herb chamber??? That seems impossible...

I haven't done it yet, but someone mentioned earlier you have to hook it and pull it up. Maybe use a safety pin or paper clip.

I found a way to make use of the can with dry herb! Just don't use the top white part! Keep it open on top! Works well I think. Let me know your thoughts.

Glad it worked OK for you, it sure didn't for me. I also recall others saying as much? Since air can go around the can it does. Restrictions (read herb) in the can only makes a larger percentage bypass around the outside. Likewise, any attempts at even modest packing seemed to lower output to me.

It's an easy test, owners should try it themselves?

Yup, that's what I did. A small hook in the tip of a safety pin, I use it to fish screens out of Solo stems, VB2 bowls, Iolite and no doubt others I can't recall off hand. Heating the tip red hot in a small torch lighter to 'draw the temper' helps, but you can muscle a small hook (90 degree bend) in the tip. Then store it safely back under the head until you need it again.

But, in a true conduction vape like DV if you keep the loads dry going in there just won't be any deposits there to worry about. At least not for a very long time. Only hot air goes past, and it all goes up. Just like the Herbal Aire (where the crucible comes out with it's bottom screen). Fouling happens where the vapor (not hot air) goes.

So i just cleaned my Dv for the first time. I found that the topscreen is easy to clean with out replacing. The screen in the middle was easy to replace. It seems like the the screen in the middle was the dirtiest and needed to be replaced. This is one amazing vape. I love how alli have to do is replace screens to keep it in tip top shape

I did find one big annoying issue... it has a slight crack that leakes air in the side of the unit near where you load the herb.. it looks weird like the unit is coming apart. its vertical line on the side that keeps both pieces of the unit together.

I also have a question... my gf has essential oil. like lavender, tea tree oil and so on.. are these oils okay to vape? Is there a guide i can look up on what oils i can vape in the dv? Im still confused on what essential oils i can use?

I'd like to interject. I am an avid DaVinci vaporist for one year. I don't mean to contradict, rather to expand vapor exploration. Using the oil can for herbs is convenient and efficient for loading and maintaining the DaVinci. There is a slight restriction of air using the oil can but I simply load it without packing the herb too tight. Draw slow and long with DaVinci. I get big hits and I regularly serve groups up to five people with satisfying results after just one canister of herbs, filled with about .4g of Branson. I begin the first round at around 334(possibly starting much lower), then increase by increments of about 10 degrees each cycle, up to 375; possibly higher for some strains until the herb is vaped. I think the oil can makes this vape extremely convenient and hassle free. To each his own I suppose. Just vape it!

How do you change the bottom screen. I tried everything! What's goining on o

Pull it out. I use a little right angle hook on a safety pin. Flame the pin red hot to draw the temper to make it easier to bend.

You should not be fouling it, you're supposed to be sucking......

Hey Kayaman,

My best advice is to heat up the tunnel and pick it out with a pin. Idk what kind of trouble you are having exactly. But when I'm cleaning my DaVinci I always heat it up fully to loosen the sticky oil.

Also, I use the herb canister to keep the machines tunnel shiny clean. I find it's much easier to both clean and load the canister. Saves me tonnes of maintenance work. I love my DaVinci!

Balls out....

I tried to get it out when it was dry I guess. It just seemed tuck and glued to the bottom of the main chamber. Also how is using the can? I feel like it doesn't work well.

I really need some tips on getting the stupid bottom screen out

@kayaman what OF posted above is how to remove the screen, Stick a pin in it and pry it out if your having such a hard time with it and put in a new one. Also make sure there is one in it still, I have dumped mine out then tried to remove it. Hard to do when it's not there.

If I had to order a new bottom screen what size would I need to get mm wise? I think I misplaced my bottom screen when I took it out to clean it last month. I always clean it after a session (to make the resins warm enough to loosen up) and I may have been too well medicated to recall where I put it.

I just told you how I do it (make a small hook). I use the little tool a lot, it always works well, poke it through near the edge, hook it on the bottom lip and pull up with the hook pointed in (so it's forced onto the hook, not off).

If you can't handle that, thread a small (say number 2?) sheet metal screw into the center of the mesh until it binds up and yank it out with pliers. Needless to say, such heavy handed stuff, while effective, forces you to change screens.
