Ok so I rubbed the chamber with q-tips soaked in 90% ISO and took the screens out of the mouth piece area then ran a ISO soaked pipe cleaner through the stem. I rinsed the stem out with water, but I assume I just burn off the ISO in the chamber? I'm running it empty on high heat right now, putting off a lot of vapors or gasses. I know the bowl isn't spotless though. Can the screen in the bowl be changed? Mine is kind of gunky

1_gr8_underdog said: The seal is there to help to keep the heating chamber centered. As well as aiding the airflow to pass in the side of the chamber over the heating element and up through the bottom of the bowl. I think it would take away any if not all the convection properties that are present. Also a lot of medicine would get through the crack into the bottom of the case. Just my :2c: You could try sending DaVinci a private message. I'm sure they will help you to get your vape right.

thanks, underdog! it doesn't seem to be hurting the performance any though. i use a glass screen on the bottom of the heating chamber and a brass one on top of the heating chamber. sent dv a message but haven't heard back yet. either way i think it's a great vape....
already looking at the e-nano though and wishing that were in my arsenal.
too many vapes, not enough dollars...

Hi I have had this unit for a year and I'm not sure it's safe to vape from. After opening the unit to clean and fix connection problem I found the plastic is melting and burning around heating chamber. Plus the ring around lip of chamber is degrading as well. Has anyone else seen this happen ?

I have some pics if anyone wants to see ? I just need to know how to upload?
I would love to see those pics. I've been worried about plastic or silicone burning or melting while I vape. After my burn off cycles and ISO cleanings I still feel like I get a rubbery flavor. Click on the button that looks like a picture of landscape with a sun in the tip left corner to add pics.

You have to upload your pics to photobucket or imgur and then post the direct links using the picture icon, which is next to the emoticon icon.

@Sleepingdrag0n Is that a white DaVinci? The discoloration to the case is part of why DaVinci stopped making them in that color. Also your unit goes to 430°F. right? Do you run it maxed out often? The seal has signs of wear regaurdless, that is for sure. Do you allow the DaVinci to "idle" (not drawing air through) @ high temps for extended periods? Just trying to figure it out with you, not giving you the 3rd degree honest.

Just a thought but, The seal may be another reason DaVinci lowered the max temp on the DV2 to 405°F.

Any question is ok about the vapes I have used. I vaped at 375 for the first hits then I would adjust up to 400. Sometimes I do quick session starting at 390 but I pull all the time but if I'm holding it in. I don't think I have ever left it on with out use. I have vaped 430 but it wasn't a nice time so I stay under 400. The white is the worst color choice but the black side is same.

@Sleepingdrag0n I wasn't able to save the pics on my phone, but that sure does look melted. I wouldn't be surprised if the inside of mine looked that way. Whenever I run mine longer than the first 10 mins after it turns off, the right side of my screen turns black and is barely readable. Not a big deal, just something I noticed

I really hope my ascent comes in tomorrow! I have some tastiness waiting for it. I just realized they told me to keep everything from the box except the ascent and charger when I sent it in, does this mean I'll be getting extra glass and screens?

Yeah more then one cycle and it gets bad. I have screen trouble too after I did a dual cycle the last middle bar in all numbers is gone. It's not a group vape for sure ladies call it a hot patatoe. It was my first vape so I showed it to everyone but now I live on the pax or home units.

Yea I've heard the same comments, I just say it's good for a hand warmer and it passes off, until spring at least haha I have the arizer EQ and the ascent. I pretty much retired the DV when I had my ascent. Waiting for my new one to come in.

The company said its a faulty unit. Doesn't anyone know if they trade the old dv for the ascent ? That model looks more like their upgrade the sonic vape seems to be more a final model of the dv made with better materials.

Yea I like the sonic very much. Super nice looking, I just wonder if it gets as hot or hotter than the DV with the material it's made with.

The Sonic portable vaporizer is a third party and not a Karma/DaVinci product. I do like that it opens to the side, but I wouldn't expect it to be an improvement on the DaVinci in quality or design other than that door swing direction change.

It really sucks that your unit is defective, I hope it hasn't made you sick at all using it. I would just PM the Da Vinci account here and talk to them about it. Maybe they will give you a good discount on the Ascent, or maybe they will send you a 2013 model of the DaVinci. You shouldn't be stuck with an awful broken vape. They are an upstanding company that i have had a great customer service experience with, so I would trust them to make it right somehow.

Hey so I finally ordered my Davinci and I already have 2 questions that I already want to know before I get it in the mail.

1- How do do u use the oil cans to burn the herbs?? Also what is your experiance with that???

I'm using my crapped out launch box right now.. so I kinda forgot the other questions I have... :(

You will receive two cans with your DV. One is empty and the other will have a cotton type material. Use the empty one for herbs. I eventually gave up on this method after 3 or 4 months. I found it to be easier to just to pack the DV instead of the cans. But it did help keep it clean. I posted awhile back my methods for packing, and moding the bottom hole in the can for better air-flow. Anyway welcome to the DaVinci Family! There are a lot of tips for use in this thread. It is a lot but it is worth it to read this entire thread. Hope this helps.

I just got my DV and putting herb in the can didn't really give me anything but a buz? I really like the concept of it> Because I can just pack a can for the go and just slide it in>> but I haven't received good results. I end up with a mini buz and all my herb vaped.

I suggest you try it without the cans. They were originally marketed as concentrate only you know.

I think most owners share my view for using bud the cans are kind of a joke?
