But they are not touting legalization. They are touting rescheduling out of category I. For the rest Gupta is taking the cowardly way out, even facilitating the view that all of this has to be taken out of the hands of the people and placed firmly under the control of guys in lab coats. As Patrick Kennedy put it, turn it into medicine only which can't get you high.

Medical and rec mmj are already on a fairly fast track nationwide through dispensaries. Big pharma will not be able to derail this movement and will have to go to the back of the line, and from there they will have to enter the market with mmj-based meds that can compete with the already tried and true natural products at reasonably affordable costs (won't happen IMO). My prediction is that big pharmacy will get just a comparatively small piece of a very big pie. I won't be sorry about that at all.

They may get a foothold for awhile, but I dont think people are gonna accept paying outrageous fees for GW concoctions that people in mmj states have been making for decades.
