I only have to hold my power button 5 seconds before I start my toke.

The color of my FF ABV is also quite deceptive. It looks lighter than I think I'd want, but when using the ABV in my Ascent, I find that there's actually very little left, unless you're looking for the hardcore body stuff. And even in that respect, what I get out of the ABV is not very satisfying in any way other than for falling asleep. I get pretty much everything I want from the herb out of the FF, despite the ABV's shade of color.

And I love the "up" sort of feeling that it gives. Even when using my Ascent at 370, I tend to get more of a "sleepy" feeling than I'd like during the day.

Also, some strains that work great in other vapes don't work well at all in the FF.

Anyway, still adoring my sexy beast, even though I think it may be one of the cooler-running units. I prefer it that way.

Just thought I'd check in.

I too have noticed different effect from strains in the FF. Weed that is normally a downer is a total pick me up in the FF. and I have gotten body effects from strains in the FF that I don't normally see.

No matter the effect I have never had a bad session with this thing.

And to expand on my earlier post about re-orienting the heating wire, I never had issues with its performance prior to the tweeking. I just noticed that it was crooked and OCD kicked in. I did notice improvement afterwards though not a giant change (no overheating/combustion). It just seemed to produce a cloud larger and sooner in the draw.

That last fraction on a vape reminds me of what I got on an oral spray called Gold Drops (I think). Seems that 2 or 3 sprays is the right dose. So I added another 3 before I fully "had" the first. I ended up feeling like sitting at the theater after being hit in the head with a 2 x 4. That's kind of the "last hit" vape experience.

I go where the thrills are
Just bought my fire fly and combusted in it. How do I take off the plate to clean any resin causing shiety taste.
Can I hook it into a water adapter for my water pipe.
My silicon has darkened as a result of the combustion. Is this okay; does it happen anyway over normal use?
What sweet spots do you use to get 2 or three good tasting clouds.

You don't have to take the plate off to clean it...just use a slightly-damp-with-iso paper towel on the lid, the bowl, and the main base/surface. Don't let any iso drip into the bowl. Don't put pressure on the port window...just use a swab with iso on the window. As for the silicon seal, you can also wipe it with a small amount of iso, GENTLY. Not sure how darkened it could possibly have gotten from one combustion episode, but it should come clean.

Sounds like a component failure. There's gotta be like a transistor that gates the current to the coil. They can fail in the "ON" state. Just statistics. Too bad it had to be yours. If you don't have another, I'd ask for a "drop-ship" to gain a day or two. They should trust their customers a little, we're a peaceful and ethical bunch.

Well I guess i'm 2 for 2, because the same behavior occurred in my first FF. I just got my new Red one yesterday, which seems to be working fine (though it also seems a trifle cooler than my silver FF when it was working properly...it may actually be an improvement as I'm getting very even abv, but I need to spend a few days with it before it gets a full review). So I'm not worried about the FF folks taking a week or two to get me a replacement, as long as my new one holds up.

My apologies,

What size Torx do I need to purchase? I've lost my bearing in this thread and can't remember what page that information was posted.

I will have to open this up to clean it some, I've noticed some build up in the mouth piece.

TORX 4 for the portal window and a TORX 6 on the body.

It's a Torx 5 for the port assembly, not 4...at least mine is. Of course, if you buy a set, you'll be covered in any eventuality.

Agreed. It's a Torx 5 for the port assembly and a 6 for the main body.

Please do not over-tighten the port assembly screws when you put it back together or it can deform/sqeeze the rubber seal and make it not sit properly.

Good luck.

My bad. Mine came as a whole set for $10 at Home Depot. It's a small craftsman pocket driver with double ended micro bits. I also have one with Philips/flatheads.

Both are great additions to my tool box for electronic work.

And it's here!!!! :party::D:nod::rockon:

I immediately placed a small DP Auto Extreme nug in there and fired it up! 4 second preheat until the core glowed bright orange, a steady 10-15 sec pull and :smug:.

I flipped the nug and it had a nice light roasted color. Another hit later and it was roasted all around. Ground the dry nug between my fingers and used a small piece of paper as a scoop to put it back in the bowl. I took a small hit cause I had to talk to the phone and until the call ended I was already HIGH… :smug:

The ABV is still yellow greenish and has a couple more sessions to go. My beauty is charging now! The vapor was sooo smooth I couldn't tell if i got any at all before I exhaled. Much smoother than my Lotus. Taste was lighter, not so intense as with the Lotus but need more time to tell for sure. Less hot as well… :p An easier session of course. I will experiment all day long. The day is still young and the sun is shining! This is an official Firefly day for me! The build quality is amazing, nothing wrong so far. Happy I took the risk to order one overseas! :D

More to come! :D:D:D  :smug:

Welcome to the FF family. I just joined the lotus family 3 days ago and i must say i love them both. they are the only 2 vapes i use. i did the same thing you are doing, i took a day off to explore the FF. Like the song says "Best day of my Life" U will see with proper breath control you can make the puppy sing as high or as low as you want it to.

I managed to get some pretty dark (nearly black) ABV when I slowed down my draw enough! This thing can bake herbs really nice! As well as my head! :p

I find the Lotus to hit harder and stronger for the moment. It's heat retention and hot air production cannot easily be matched by a portable. :2c: Firefly has already a place in my heart though!

Get some Firefly porn while I take a few more hits! :p :D

yeah i agree the lotus hits harder. i can milk the lotus, i get really nice dense cool vapor from the FF. those two along with the hammer are my favorite portables. although the hammer is about to be retired due to the fact i got the lotus.

Firefly pairs nicely with Vapor Lungs! A plain silicon tubing piece mated it perfectly with the 14mm reducer of my VL. Party mode engadged! Sharing with friends has just become easier. It gets HOT though. Pleasantly hot, not scorching hot… Two people destroyed with half a bowl… :ko: Very nice head! :smug: It was easier to get big hits with the vapor lung. I need to learn how to direct draw a little better. I still find getting good hits from the Lotus is easier… I will keep experimenting hard in the name of science!!! :science: :ko:

Glad you are enjoying. Glad you finally got it! Great to hear your feedback...yes it can get fairly hot when pushed to its limits.

Day 3 with my red FF. It is definitely a touch less hot than my silver...I'm having to hold the button longer in later stages. I think it's extracting nearly the same amount, all but one or two pretty large hits. But the abv is much more even, and there's nary a charred bit to be found in nine or ten bowls I've run through it. I have a feeling that this unit is calibrated exactly as they intended, and my silver was/is a little on the hotter side...not by much though. (Till combustion occurred, that is!) My technique has to shift a bit to map to the red FF.

Comparing two FFs is weird. They're the same, but different, like fraternal twins. When I get a couple more days under my belt I'll have more thoughts.

FWIW, the right tubing to fit the FireFly is 1/2" ID tubing. It fits in the mouthbeak very well. Now the problem is the other end. Too tight to fit over an 18" male. Maybe a 14mm? I don't have any 14mm glass to try (yet). An adapter is around $10.

The shortage of glass behind the lack of Solo GONG adapters at Vape Planet suggests folks in Canada are vapin' more than ever.

The 1/2" ID tubing works just fine with 14mm female GonGs! I filled a couple of vapor lungs the other day!

I am also starting to get much better results from my FF! It's all about the draw…

I have set aside my Lotus for a few days just to be able to evaluate the FF better as a daily driver. It is doing great so far. Yesterday I went a little overboard and it had me couch locked for quite a big part of the day. :ko: I think it can extract those high temp actives just fine! :p

EDIT: Posted this at the Lotus thread as well but here it goes for you butane haters! :p

Just in case you loose your FF top plate and happen to have a Lotus aluminum stem around…

guys, guys! We need more metrics! So the 1/2" ID tubing fits INTO à female 14? I had visions of stretching it OVER a male 14 ! Needless to say I wasn't getting far fitting it ONTO my male 18mm header.

So we have to find some glass. The head shops around here kill you on that crap. I have to take my wife. Before the Berlin Wall came down she used to deal Chinese Blue Jeans (that she'd picked up in Shanghai) in Moscow. She has an eye, and she's pretty, which throws the adversary off. Guy in head shop says 80 bucks, she says 20. After a round of fierce negotiations she gets it for $20 cause she somehow knows his cost is $15. I'd be happy to get it for 50, thinking his cost was $40.

And the lazy cretin at the hardware store isn't mentally equipped to cut tubing, let alone suggest junctions for my ... project.

I confess I'm ordering a Solo just so I can plug in a GONG adapter and stand it on end into my bubbler, like in the movies.

I've ended up waiting a bit longer than expected for my HI, so I've been using the FF as a daily driver for a couple weeks now.

A while back, I was convinced that the FF would not be satisfying as a daily driver, but only as a portable or to augment a desktop at home. I have now changed my tune because using the FF all day has been both satisfying and ... might I even say a joyful experience?

No throat irritation at all, even though I tend to need water for other vapes. With an extra battery and external charger, I'm never waiting. It goes with me all around the house and all around outside the house. I'm becoming more convinced that the FF, while expensive, is definitely a two-fer, which to me makes the price seem fair.

In fact, the past couple nights, I haven't even bothered with my usual Ascent 430 F sleepytime knockouts. I just finish off a bowl as far as I can in the FF and ten minutes later I'm ...

The FF is starting to feel as though it was designed specifically for me...
