Gupta: 'I am doubling down' on medical marijuana.....

I can't wait for this. The first weed was one of the best presentations for a general audience I've ever seen. It talked about the ACTUAL downsides of cannabis and how they pale in comparison to the potential benefits. This new one looks like a call to action, to finally end this dumbass prohibition.

An who would have thought that it is Israel that is on the cutting edge of cannabis research.

I predict that within the next 3 years, cannabis will no longer be classified as a schedule one drug and THAT will just open up the floodgates for more research.

To Dr. Gupta..........I applaud you.

It hasn't been for the lack of trying. Research efforts have been continually hindered in the United States by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the DEA. Many U.S.-based research and education institutions have long tried to conduct studies on cannabis, but in order to get material for study, the federal government has to approve it, and since we are talking about a schedule I drug, the Feds deny that approval. As long as cannabis is classified as a schedule I drug, we won't see changes to this anytime soon.

I think it will take a reclassification before more states come on board and vote to allow medicinal use of marijuana. It's pioneers like Colorado, Washington, and Dr. Gupta that are leading the way.

You can bet I will be voting very carefully in future elections, supporting those in favor of relaxing these draconian laws.

^^ Great find...........

At first I wondered if it was really him, but after reading some of his responses, I feel that it is due to the way he phrases his words. He does it the same when he's writing as he does when he's speaking.

But considering how busy of a man he is, both with his work at CNN as well as his continuing work as a neurosurgeon, I'm a bit surprised that he has the time to spend on Reddit.

Here's an excerpt from the Reddit AMA:

What is the best method of ingestion in your opinion?
Dr_SanjayGupta[S]-
"It is probably vaporizing. I think smoking creates a lot of byproducts that we don't know enough about. I think eating it leads to very uneven absorption. Vaporizing seems to activate the medicine without burning it. I also think oils absorbed in the mouth are effective, especially for kids".

Team NO SLEEP!
Sure is; but his continuing to bring up these issues of children with seizures, and medical refugees fleeing to Colorado, is partly responsible for many states to begin to reform laws.

What a great show! I couldn't help welling up seeing the plight of Vivian & her family. Let's hope that CBD's are definitively proven to help with seizures.

Reporting like this is going to change minds & accelerate the acceptance of MMJ & the scientific studies that need to be done (and are being blocked by the government). Blocked, I believe, because the powers that be are afraid the studies are going to confirm MJ has numerous legitimate uses.

It's so refreshing (and overdue) to see a scientific mind like Sanjay Gupta investigate this subject in an unbiased way. After all, wasn't Dr. Gupta adamantly opposed to MMJ just a couple of years ago, before he began to look closely at the facts? And, fortunately, he has a powerful forum for his views.
