I agree, the stock stem seems to give just the right airflow.

I agree. The maker seems to have done some homework here, while a compromise of course it seems like a well considered one to me.

The 'perfect restriction' will be subjective. Even the same guy might have 'mood swings' and other changes of mind?

We may find out in the long run that the older model is better. Time will tell.

Yup. One thing sure there's very little to complain about with the 'inferior' older versions. I feel very well served by mine and feel the older design gives me much better control of how the battery is used.

Still, it's in the nature of man to always want more I think. Each of us gets to deal with that in our own way I guess?

your right, its not a major concern.. I'm still excited that I got it... its just the psychology behind it I guess. I'm more disappointed that the seller misled me than anything..

Bingo! Who knows the fool may well have done you a great service by giving you a more reliable unit?

My advice would be by all means to enjoy it and see where it takes you.....

Best of luck with your new best friend.

I was sent this email from ebay: "Please read Kevin from Arizer's email below. He has informed us that the M1A model is no different than the M1C/D model: "Hello Karen, Thank you for your email. There is a lot of silliness and speculation regarding the serial numbers -- please don't play into that mess. The serial numbers on our products are for internal / office use only, they do not indicate any specific differences between units, they are constantly changing -- they do not follow any specific pattern or progression. The letters you have mentioned have all been used numerous times throughout production, and it cannot be assumed that a unit with a serial number beginning with M1A is older than a unit with a serial number beginning with M1D, or vice versa. You are an Arizer Authorized Retailer, and we always send you the newest available of our products in your orders, so if you rotate your inventory (first in first out) then you can always be confident and assure your customers that you are selling the newest available of our products. I hope this helps. If you have any further questions please feel free to ask. Best Regards, Kevin orders@arizer.com" Your M1A serial number model is the newest model that Arizer has produced and I assure you and can show you our Bill of Lading invoice on the shipment that it was delivered to our warehouse directly from Arizer last week as we were fully sold out this past month."

I know its a wall of text, but its worth reading. I can confirm that my M1A model does in fact allow me to use it while being charged. I guess I should have tested it out before I started bitching. Sorry ;)

hey so i tried the torch method for the screen completly cleared it but now screen is blackish instead of that silver steal color. Is that fine? I didnt have a brush, so had to used a paper towel but got all the blockage out.(thanks)

Also i'm finding that i can use straight stem fine on level four(nice clouds) however for bent stem i have to use level 6 to see clouds? Is that normal?

Thanks, I agree it is indeed worth reading (unless of course you accepted it the last time it was presented).

Unfortunately many of those who really should read it will instead continue listening to the little voices.....the numbers must mean something......they're keeping secrets from us......

There do seem to be actual differences I think. And model numbers describe the change in bowls which may be driving some of the insistence that we should not trust our lying eyes? Yes, the newer units draw easier and seem to no longer use a PA but now allow operation with the charger connected. Numbers on the bottom do not describe that. The brother above has a M1A with 'new features'. LOTS of us have ones with that 'model number' that do not. That's Arizer's business, it is not meant to make sense to us? Let me repeat, I don't think it's meant to make sense. There's a logic that says they should even disguise their production levels intentionally if this way if they feel the need. Later in the war the Nazis repeated four digit serial numbers on rifles made in the same factory. The logic being the would be able to use them to say recall defective heat treatment or other dangerous conditions for guns made in the recent past (by the time that factory made 10000 rifles and repeated the first was long gone to somewhere). Not that Arizer is trying to take over the world or anything, but confusing your enemies (or competition) by messing with serial numbers makes sense to me at some levels. I've been involved with just that BS before. Ever work for a place that intentionally left out serial numbers from 'the series'? I have, engraved nameplates, very nice, but not every number I learned in school.

Thanks for forwarding the good word, Scrappy34. I hope it 'takes' this time......at least for a little while. Maybe Arizer should put a statement somewhere on their web page, they must be getting tired of the issue too. Probably wouldn't convince some, but it might cut it back a mite.....

Yes I will accept it now. Please dont act like those of us who paid attention to the numbers were crazy and just hallucinating. After seeing a ton of reports of M1C, 1D, and 1E with all of the newer features; it wasnt hard to see a pattern. Now we see a case of M1A (and maybe another?) with the new features. For the most part we were seeing a trend of progression with new solo users also having newer numbers, this report does break up that trend

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
RE ; screens
These are still my favorite to use from the very beginning .
I will however , have to try @OF flame torch cleaning advice method .Even tho a 2 minute quick soak in iso works well , I find it helps in the deterioration of these screens . ie fraying and losing it's top-hat dome shape .

Just wanted to thank you for posting this, as I searched out some and got tired of trying to find a 'better' deal and just decided to buy a couple packs here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VAPIR-NO2-V...EM-/150601484705?ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:CA:3160

I find these are GREAT and really like using them in my Solo's! they vape great, makes the stem dump easier and cleaner, and a frequent long ISO soak whenever I feel like it (because I have so many in rotation sitting in a jar of ISO I can always have a clean one when needed to preserve my flavour snob style), yet even if I should just use it and toss it it wouldn't break me.

The numbers did go in a patten (m1a m1b m1c)but then arizer has now gone back to m1a still with charge and use tho vapefiend told me the latest ones are m1a. IMO they have done this to make more of a confusion around the numbers

Yeah IDK why; but either way its a dam good product. The solo rocks (any model)

Question for you concentrate experts; is bubble hash a good concentrate to use with the solo? Do you use the cotton or flower filler technique or is it even needed?

I was asking the same thing a few pages ago, it was said the options are to wrap in organic cotton, sandwich in flower or sandwich with pipescreens. Ive not tested it myself but people have had success doing it. Though the Solo is not made for concentrates it can be used.

I tried some G 13 semi bubble it melts if you handle it for a bit but it's not proper melt.

Cotton wool not too successful. Mixed in with herbs. Best method was heat setting 2 then 3 up to 7 in increments and when it auto shut off restored it and another 5 hits.

The cheese was well cooked and the hash now resembled indian/pakistani/afgani black it was malleable but had zero oils in it.

I'm not sure 410 f is hot enough for hash?

Still it wiped me out and I had to lay down

I always read ataxians posts in a Bender voice, gives them a whole new dimension :D

My Solo still hasn't arrived at the massdrop fullfilment center. 35 days after the drop has ended. (before anybody tells me anything about supporting my LHS: 119 via Massdrop before taxes, about 280 at my LHS...)
The pain, I have to soothe it by buying more glass!
My oldest SOLO (M107) I paid $300 at my local smoke shop and they threw in a SPACE CASE GRINDER.
I still use it.
Was a lot of money at the time!
Looking back in time it was a great deal!

My newer M1D2 is running strong, I do not use while plugged in, and am very easy on my batteries(usually only a session or 2 on 4-6 depending on strain, never depleteted below 1, try to unplug before charge light stops flashing) Despite my avatar, my Solo is now my go to portable for flower......OG Ticker sits at the desk!

I curious, those with newer model Solos that have died. Were you using the plug in while in use feature most of the time before your Solo bit the dust?

Excellent question!!!

My feeling (least useful data of all......) from reading with some interest by not paying strict attention to all the details is that a fairly common theme is 'it worked great last time I used it, but this time when I tried....'?

But looking for specific data to explore an idea like this is the sure sign of a thinking man working logically........

Kudos, PP, I doff my Forum Cap to ya. Sharp guys raised out that way it seems......

Refreshing and promising. Thanks very much.

Arizer solo with small amount of cannabis??
Hi,
I have a pen type and am now looking at the Arizer solo which seems to be a great unit for the price.
I vape only a very small amount at a time, a really small amount helps my med issues and gets me high.
The solo chamber goes in "upside down", on videos they pack the chamber full so it doesn't fall out.
How would this work with a small amount of cannabis/ would it work??
In trying to judge size of the solo chamber, it looks like I'd use about 1/10 of the chamber.
Wouldn't it all fall out when inserted?
Thanks for any help on answering this!!

If you do water path with a bubbler you will need a GonG 18mm or 14mm. You can get the shorthy version to skimp on flower. (smaller dose)I use the GonG for dry set up's like a JHOOK. The thing that is cool about the SOLO is you can be creative with it.

Find your sweet spot!

Howdy y'all, long time reader first time poster... I've been going Solo since about Dec 20 2013. Black M1C1 unit that I picked up on that auction site for just under $130 shipped. I've smoked exactly once since receiving this unit, back in mid February just to see what I was missing. I wasn't missing jack, brother. This morning I cleaned my three stems for the first time. First step was in a saucepan with about 12oz whole milk, until all but the driest residue was in a milk suspension. A conservative estimate would be 20-30 drops of oil. Removed stems and added cocoa mix. I drank half of the mixture a little over an hour ago and am starting to feel sedated. It tasted like liquified hash oil cookies. Just one question for you seasoned veterans. OMG AM I GOING TO BE OK??? :science:

Gee I duno. Some people like this guy have problems:

Just kidding! But it's a good idea to stay put and not drive. The problem is a person may use "too much" and may experience anxiety and other unpleasant sensations. The effects are also dependant on the strain used. Of course we all know by now there it is virtually impossible to take a fatal overdose.
