I hear you! The lhs carries strickly "Chinese" glass and charges ~$150-$200 but even they're not up to these standards! I suppose they have way more overhead than me though

Same here. I have two shops in my town: One offers mostly 6-7 year old pieces that nobody ever wanted (one of those shitty Dragonbongs is the most interesting piece he has on sale). The other one is owned by a guy who runs a shisha bar, you actually have to ring him up so he can open the store for you. Sells mostly "Boost" brand pipes (cheap, thick glass, sadly nothing beyond the usual beaker or tube with a slide downstem).
I know its not that simple and I really want to support my LHS. Thing is when I can't even buy a shitty 18-14 GG adapter without hearing the dreaded "I have to order that one." there isn't much left I can do for them.

EXACT same story here! When I got back into this I went there and I was like hmm so not much has changed in tech since I was a teenager so it was "Gimme a bong I guess?".
Had to get online to realize there was a new world out there for the same price!

Could be worse, they could charge $25 for said adapter like the one near me. The only time I can even stomach going into the shop is when it's a holiday and everything is 50%+ off.

My D020 was labeled as "glass bottles", which I thought is a much more apt description. When I went to pick up my package, my heart sunk a little when I saw the "Opened and inspected by customs" sealing tape on the box, half expecting to find the inside empty with a note saying the items have been confiscated. But I guess there was so much bubble wrap that they didn't bother unwrapping it, and it looks enough like glass bottles underneath all that bubblewrap.

Got this piece in.
Pulls nice, no drag, pretty thick glass (≈6-7mm), no water in the mouth with the correct fill level and sits down nice in upright position (like picture, but mines sits flatter). The one I got is 18mm jointed.
The bad (for some

Just like all the Chinese glass it isn’t exactly perfect in the lines. The mouthpiece comes out at a slightly different angle then the bottom of the can (but still sits very solid). And the bottom of the can (where is sits on) isn’t a perfectly straight angle (kind of rounded like the one above, but again mine isn't as bad).
Speaking of phallic-nes (had to give credit to farscaper for the word), this thing could pull double duty for the ladies! And I guess a few gentleman also
. I like to say it “percs in the front, pokes in the back”! (I could go on for days with sexual innuendo but that’s where maybe you come in… read on)
Overall nice piece, but just not for me (it was also stated in this thread that it was 14mm but mine came 18mm).
So I am thinking possible contest. Maybe best quote for this picture wins….

Got it. Not bad. I really thought it would suck. So much that I tried combusting with it first and was shocked that it really took the pain away... (I know booooo I fell off the wagon after 4 years of vaping only). Then I tried the Lotus with similar results. I guess you really don't know shit until you hit it!

That looks like it could be a good piece for people who use their Pinnacle WT with their Herbalizer or anyone that attaches WTs to a whip setup, as this one can stand on its own (but it does look a l ittle 'tippy')...

The Local Smoke Shops a couple of year ago had nice glass for a low price. Now they have thin glass walled garbage 3x the price?
Pipe Daddy's or Glass Blowers Direct will have the upper hand on all this!

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I wouldn't pay more than $50 for anything direct from China (the most I've actually spent is $35). I noticed yesterday that a piece I'd considered buying at $45 shipped is now something like $95 shipped. Which means, of course, that I'm no longer interested in the slightest. I suspect that these sellers will soon realize that people aren't going to rush to buy their wares at any price, and that the popularity they've experienced was not so much about their fabulous products as it was about the fabulous deals they were offering.

I wouldn't say that. Mine from a few weeks ago has been great (once you get over the flea bites in the percs slits). I think the boost in sales has just made the sellers believe their product has more value that it actually does. Should level off in a couple weeks when sales slow down. Until then I guess we'll have to either buy American (sweet Simba sale on Massdrop) or not at all.

Do you know if this affects performance? I know one of my slits has a noticeable chip and it seems like bubbles have a tendency to escape through that slit, and other slits often don't fire that often/at all.

Even on expensive American glass the percs don't all fire 100% of the time. The holes/slits that aren't firing are reducing drag. The only way to really get all the percs firing is with a really hard pull and a disc diffused slide.

This is something I have learned to apply in many scenarios in life. I used to be soooo cheap. Now I am just semi cheap haha. There are things that are worth spending the extra bucks on, if it is something you will handle and USE very often then you should spend the extra $ when necesary. If it is to look at then who cares.

I haven't seen a Chinese Reti yet.
I've seen some American blowers doing them (colie glass was at one point), but the D020 is the closest I've seen a Chinese piece come.
So a "proper" Reti will have 2 percs, one nested inside the other, with opposing angles on the slits.
The D020 is essentially a shower head with angled slits.
(Though IMO the having the slits angled does seem to aid in the diffusion a bit
)
