In the confusing way this thing has been split up, I just answered this (I think correctly) 'over there':
Thermovape Cera

Basically it's to be sure the core is the correct length.

If I were to order a Luna now, could I send my currently owned Cera EO cartridge in to TET for sizing to my Luna without sending my Luna body back? I ask because I would like to avoid a period of time without an EO cartridge in my possession.

OF, do you know if the shim/washer is a modification to the cartridge or the luna body? I guess if it's for the body, it'd be necessary to send it in with the EO cartridge for fitting in the future. Thanks.

I think that works fine, the Lunas are all standardized size and all carts interchange as soon as they fit any one as I understand the deal.

I understand it's a fitting of the cart to the Luna, the Luna does not change but it is necessary to rebuild the cart if the length is wrong. I believe all future carts will be built to the tighter tolerance and will freely interchange on all Lunas (and Ceras for that matter).

Maybe.

I appreciate the reply...you've made pulling the trigger on this purchase a little easier.

My 2 eo cores from my Cera and my LL core from the cera all just fired up no problem in my Luna!! I just vaped a LL bowl on the luna body and it didn't get hot at all on the handle. The body seems thick enough with the carbon fiber. I just recieved my 2 cera LL cores ba k literally 1 day before my Luna came. The other 2 eo carts were rebuilt within the last 2 months. OF, do you think that TET would have been fitting these cores that early for the Luna? Im still sticking with the cera for LL but it did work with all cera cores. :)

Can you do 2-3 bowls in a row with the LL on the luna PLEASE? If it works well with the LL and the EO I'm down. Not ready to spend a ton on ONLY an oil vape yet, not enough oil around these parts. Super excited to hear that. After 2 bowls the cera top is already boiling hot, so if the Luna isn't any more annoying to deal with then it might be luna time!

What about anyone else with it? Care to fire up the LL for some reviews? I still use LL more than EO by far, but the luna is exactly what I wanted...IF it works WELL with both!

In the confusing way this thing has been split up...

I don't see how it is confusing to have a Cera thread and a Luna thread. That follows well-established precedent here. Since some parts are interchangeable, it's inevitable that some posts will discuss both models. Based on reports, clearly you and possibly others feel that certain posts have been made in or moved to the wrong place.

We can't tell people not to talk about both models in the same post. If a post does mentions both model then the thread it belongs in usually becomes a judgment call, and opinions will differ. Since moving posts is a PITA, the tendency will be to leave them where they are unless it blatantly obvious that they should be moved.

I agree with OF, i think... I didnt think this deserved its own thread because its not really a new vape its just a new handle for the cera. Its gotten kind if confusing. and if anything shouldnt this be in the ecig section because its not really designed for LL, and its more of an ecig style.
But your the mod so its ultimately your decision

id like to see a redesigned mouthpiece. I was thinking keep the top cap the way it is, i dont really mind that getting too hot. I was thinking maybe a delrin mouthpiece designed the same way the ceramic one is but the way mine burned in the EO im thinking thats not an option. So then i thought maybe keep the ufo part of the ceramic mouthpiece but turn the tip part into a slim rod that you can slidean old style mouthpiece into if that makes sense. I can draw up somethinng if it doesnt. Someone with more resources get on it!

I'm not a big fan of plastic mouth pieces. I really like the ufo. It keeps pocket debris out of the important area. That to me is a reason to keep the ufo. And I think the idea of a delrin one made just like the ufo would be a great idea for the Luna

Can you tell me what UFO stands for? It was not in FC's glossary of acronyms, and the OCD in me won't let it rest. Sorry for the noob question.

It is not my decision, it is our decision. It is not set in stone but no one has made a good case for dumping the Luna thread in with the Cera, except that some of you say you're confused. When I go to TET's website I see the Luna listed as a separate model from the Cera. If there's confusion, blame them. Also, when this thread was a candidate, it had a Pen tag and we got complaints.

Finally, discussing moderator decisions is not appropriate in the threads. If you have an issue, take it up in a PM.

What I'm waiting for more than anything is luna LL experiences. Someone want to try it for say a day?

If it really isn't a good fit with LL then it probably won't be a good fit with me for now. Still waiting for my other vape to come back so I can send all my cera parts to be rebuilt. Exciting times to own a cera.

Get a smooth flow. I hated using just the delrin too. Smoothflow is a much better alternative

TET is simply awesome!! They received my two EO cores for rebuild yesterday and they were completed and shipped out with my Luna body before lunchtime today. Very pleased with the quick turnaround.

Good to hear, that is the idea. Customer returns are supposed to be the number one job, but sometimes it gets caught up with supply and other issues (like we've seen with switches and straps for instance). I've been there when UPS or other deliveries happen. The joint stops while all hands tear into it to determine what has to be done there....then normal production resumes once they figure out who will do what with the returns.

Having worked under several schemes, I favor this one. Everyone in the shop is responsible for the quality of the product, when it's assigned to a formal CS group (often political in nature) the tendency is to dodge responsibility. I'm definitely on the 'quality is built in' side of the build or inspect it in debate. QA is vastly better than QC IMO.

Hey just a heads up guys. I was reading the faqs...looks like the Luna body has a limited 10 year warranty. While the cera body still has a limited life time warranty.

Not a huge issue since im sure theyll come up with something new in the next 10 years. Just thought id throw it out there

Gentle Friends,

I just got back from TV. Not wishing them to interrupt production to rebuild my carts and check out the Luna for me (nor hang around slowing up production) I left them to their good work after another chat with the boss (Nate).

The 'check/rebuild' thing is as we thought, slightly longer carts won't work with Luna even if they're just fine on Cera. Variations in the insulator and back up washer for the center contact, the screw head used for that contact and to a smaller degree any size issue with the connector body itself combine sometimes in 'tolerance build up' to cause problems. 9 different parts (some in the Luna) are in play here. The fix is to change the metal washer for one of a series of round shims (adjustment steps). Once corrected to the tighter spec the carts should interchange just fine with other Lunas as well as the Cera they've been working with all along. Unfortunately, changing the washer/shim calls for a full strip down, meaning a new heater is needed. Full rebuild time. No way to reuse the heaters.

The new EL cart is a slightly different story. It gets rebuilt to SV (not LV like before) so it won't be able to function in a Cera and will only work with two 18350s in the Luna. This is because part of the new design calls for a thinner (and longer) heater wire which won't connect in EO or LL carts, it needs the new style connection scheme.

Nate said they may someday consider at LV core in the new design, but for now it's not happening.

They did say that one new owner has tried LL cars in a serious manner. The second hand report is 'it worked just fine for two loads'. Apparently it gets pretty hot, but the carbon fiber tube protects you very well. Apparently your thumb gets hot first?

They have my collection of LL cores as well, I asked them to fit at least one of those so I can try it out.

They offered to mail it back to me when done ('should be later this week....') but I declined as it's a perfect excuse to visit the shop again, probably next week.

The 'put the pushbutton in the Cera' project seems just as real as before, but they're holding off on starting that until the Luna fit issues are under control.

So I got to use my Luna for the first time last night and I was able to get about 5 good hits off the .5 chunk of shatter loaded then it quit working. I loaded it up again with about .2 of shatter and held the button down to melt the pea size chunk into the ceramic. The concentrate did warm up a bit but never enough to melt into the ceramic so now I think it may have just been residual heat from using it a couple minutes before. At the time I didn't realize this so I got the heat gun out and helped melt the shatter into the ceramic. Still I wasn't able to get any vapor production so I called it a night. When I woke up today I thought maybe I was just having a stoned newb moment so I tried hitting the button really quick and immediately I heard my concentrate start to sizzle so I took a nice size hit and put it down. I came back in a couple of minutes and same thing as last night ... dead. The top ceramic plate is very obviously completely saturated and I am using brand new, fully charged protected ncr18650pf and Sony 18650vtc4 batteries.

I decided to test everything out with my multimeter ... the battery holder/switch seems to be working properly and the cart reads 1.0 ohms. When I was testing the battery holder and the cart I noticed what looks like a few burn marks on the positive contact of the battery handle

and corresponding blemishes on the positive contact of cart

I contacted TET last night and have heard nothing back today which is why I'm posting here ... I figure @OF was in there distracting them from my email so maybe he can chime in and help a newb out ;)

While writing this I decided to try one more thing ... thinking maybe it's the viscosity of the concentrate that I used I decided to take my heat gun and blast the hell out of the cart to get everything nice and melted down. After this I tried holding the button down while taking a tiny sip every couple of seconds and eventually I got the tiniest little puffs of vapor but nothing substantial and there was absolutely no sizzle coming from the cart like I could hear when I was getting the few monster hits I was able to get.

Any input appreciated

Edit: I'm not ruling out user error here ... I'm new to TET products. The contacts are just the only thing I've been able to troubleshoot so far.

My first thoughts when seeing this were an intermittent connection between the positive connections but I don't know enough about this stuff to really diagnose.

Hi MFL,

Just curious, was this the EO cartridge that came with the Luna, or was this an older Cera cartridge that you put on the Luna body?

The reason I ask, is because I myself just received a Luna. However, in order to get my older Cera EO cartridge to work properly, Zeki wants both the Luna body and the cart returned to TET for proper fitting/shimming. I did notice that my older cart looked a little skewed on the Luna body compared to the new cartridge that came with the Luna.

Hopefully in another week I will have two bodies (Luna and Cera) and two EO cartridges that are completely interchangeable.

Very nice ... my plan is to eventually get a cera ll (depending on how I'm handled by TETs cs dept here) but atm the Luna is my first TET product.

It's a bummer to hear about your new malfunctioning cartridge. If it's worth anything, I have been very pleased with TET and their Customer Service. They will make it right...unfortunately at the expense of some of your time. The EO cart surely is amazing when working as intended.

Edit: From the looks of it, the fit of the cart and body is suboptimal...not necessarily a bad cart.

Sorry it's giving you trouble, hopefully it can be easily resolved.

The marking on the switch top is normal. The whole part is silver plated, and quite thick by the looks of it. The frosted appearance is not going to hold up. It's part of the plating process, silver plate table ware is treated differently, material is put down more slowly and done with 'asymmetrical AC'. That is plating is laid down half the cycle of the mains then most of it is stripped off again on the other half cycle. Since the more exposed deposits strip faster, the 'high points' are removed and the surface builds atom by atom in fairly neat layers. The finish you see is typical of what you'd use for similar applications. I too was alarmed that mine was 'scuffed up' until I thought about it a bit.

What looks like deposits on the screw heat does concern me. That's usually pointing at marginal contact (mechanical issue), which also fits your overall problem? I'm wondering if this might be the 'too short' side of the too long issue my carts are in for? Even through it's brand new, if the cart was loose, too short or otherwise out of spec this is exactly what I'd expect.

I agree with you, I'm not doubt at fault. George Bush can't be responsible for everything that's wrong around here....... And who can blame them? I mean I finally pack up my gear and split (maybe 1:30), I've no doubt some celebrating broke out. Only natural. Hopefully they won't be too hung over tomorrow morning to get back to you, but if not, it's sometimes crazy there, I'd call again?

Please let us know how it turns out? TIA

Hey, and congrats on the Luna, neat little guy (when it works), ain't it?
