Vapor Brownies (ABV Cannaoil)

One thing I've noticed with heating is that in the end you lose oil through the simmering - there is evaporation - and as such we may be losing potency,
I think it would be the contrary. When you are cooking a sauce, reducing it will increase the flavor. In the recipe thread, Indiegal advised that the heat would not diminish the potency of the cannabutter dulce I made.

I would think this would be the same.

New to the forum, Been trolling for about 3 months now since I got my Buddha...

Anyway...I had about 60g of High Grade Only! Im talking im to another level of picky when it comes to what I vape. I vape at around 10 oclock on my buddha connected to a halo perc bong. Ill post pics soon...

I took 40g and followed the recipe on this thread to the T. This is my first time trying an edible so this was a new experience for me. I made brownie / cookies some mix from pillsburry. I cut it into 10 pieces so I figures 10g per piece. I vape about 2g a day of very high grade so I figure it wouldnt do much to me. Wow was I wrong! I made them last night and left them in my fridge over night. I ate one this morning at around 9am with the urge to vape, In about 20 min the urge went away which was strange already. 1 hour later im borderline freaking out to stoned....It kept climbing for about another hour and now it feels like its on a steady cruise. But Wow these are really strong I am really scared giving it to a regular user...

Thanks for the recipe!

Just curious, what does your ABC look like when you finish vaping? I ask because 10 o clock on the buddha seems pretty low and would probably leave a good amount of 'goodies' in the bud.

its brown no green, but for some reason it seems to vape more when i hit it with my bong.

You may be right; last night I made a batch of brownies using oil that sat for one week with spent bud in it, rather than having simmered the oil. No question that I felt it but I believe that the effects had been stronger using the original 30 minute simmering approach. I'll have to eat a few more before I can make a more informed determination.

***EDIT***

Forget what I just said. I had eaten one small brownie Saturday night just to taste it and I found the effect to be somewhat light and pleasurable. The rest of the brownies were put in the freezer and last night I had eaten two small ones and I was tripping profoundly. I had read once somewhere that freezing the brownies after you make them allows the THC crystals to expand - don't know if this info has any value or not.

However remember, I did not cook the oil, I let it sit for one week allowing the THC to leech in slowly and naturally.
Actually it was nine days, not one week but who's exact these days?
Be interesting to read what the consensus is if others try it this way.

I could not imagine being more stoned than I was last night, and there was no vaping - just the brownies.

Another side benefit to doing it this way is that there is zero smell. Normally when i heat the oil there is a strong pungent odor, and there was no smell at all when I baked the brownies at 325 for about 35 minutes.

I think what that smell is, is the loss of valuable THC in the simmering process.

Anyway try it this way, you might like it.

*EDIT*****

Also remember it takes about 2 hours to get the full tilt effect.

Jeffp sorry for the long wait for a response. When I first just tried using AVB and oil I let it sit for a little over a week. Now all I do is grind it up with a coffee grinder and throw it into the mix.

I like that you tried the leeching method also. I was thinking to myself what does heating of the AVB actually do? I think the idea is to get the THC and the fats all happy together. Now that makes sense. But what didn't make sense to me was straining the AVB out. If cooking the oil/avb together transferred 95%* of the THC (*completely made up number) then the other 5% was being strained out. The way I figure is that I will let my body try and get the most out of the AVB as possible. Put it all in and let your body figure it out.

When I first made brownies I made 3 batches 1) Leeching method 2) grinding up AVB 3) weaker concentration grinding up AVB. I had several people try them out and the results were mixed. Some people thought the weakest brownies were the strongest. But from my own observations I knew that batch 1 and 2 were about the same. So ever since then I just grind up the stuff and throw it in there.

One other thing I can't emphasis enough is mint. It completely covers the taste of any AVB. Generally when I make brownies I use 1 box of brownie mix (brand doesn't really matter) 1 bag of pecans 1 bag of creme de menthe chips. The pecans help convince the person any texture they encounter are just nuts.

So far I have given these to a lot of people. Only one person hates them b/c they don't like the idea of getting high off my scraps. Anyway experiment with your recipes. The average batch of brownies I make has ~8grams of AVB in it. I try to get ~24 pieces so the dose is close to 0.33g. Which isn't much but I would rather have less than more.

Xero, so far I'm pretty damn impressed with the "leeching method" which includes grinding AVB to a powder.
Aside from its potency I can barely taste any AVB, just the slightest hint if at all. I've thought of adding walnuts or pecans - that's a good idea along
with your suggestion of adding mint chips.
Are you saying that you do not notice any depreciation in potency by not leeching or simmering? That's interesting. I recall about 15 years ago a friend of mine did just that -
he put some fresh bud into a cookie mix, put it in the toaster oven until it began to smoke and then took it out. We were both tripping to the extreme. Very simple and fast.

Hopefully maybe some other FC psychonauts will experiment in this area; I'm curious to read their results and opinions as well.

From my experiences leeching and just grinding up the AVB and throwing it in are about the same. Hearing from 20-30 peoples reactions to the brownies most are really good. Some are pretty extreme. I have to think that some of the extreme reactions are due are caused by a psychosomatic reaction. In other words if you think you are going to trip balls you probably will.

What brownies do to me is give me a good body buzz with a pretty nice mellow high. This tends to last a long time. Generally I get tired after a couple hours. I have to really fight the crash that it causes me. That or consume more :D

A good body high, absolutely. I don't think imagining that you're going to trip your balls off would cause you to do so or to even have LSD flashbacks. I think it's real cause and effect, but who knows?
As far as leeching, considering that we wait weeks or months to build up enough ABV for a batch of brownies, another week or so leeching isn't a big deal in that context.
But I'd be interested to read what others are experiencing if they care to experiment in these alternative approaches.

If you're going to try just leaching without heating, why not just start dumping your abv into the oil immediately after vaping, then use your already oiled up abv to cook with when you have enough? Lots more leaching time and no extra waiting if you don't want to. :2c:

that is a brilliant suggestion because you can't overleech - however, it would be difficult to gauge how much bud is in the oil to know if you in fact have enough...

I've definitely OD'd on strong just bud brownies. I ate three (probably 1/2 would have been just right) and went to the Portland, OR Dylan / Paul Simon concert tour stop, and I was so stoned I just sat practically the whole concert. I think Dylan opened, I can't really remember. We had great seats: 13 row center - too stoned to enjoy the concert.

I don't like being that stoned anymore, if ever. Well, yeah. I used to really.... well, never mind.

Not brownies, but the most high I ever was at a concert was '72, Zappa at the Felt Forum in NYC - he conducted a 22 piece orchestra while my friends and I were tripping on window pane LSD.
The suited ushers didn't hassle anyone about smoking joints during the show, they just came around to verify our ticket stubs, with their flashlights.
Once the show began we sat there gaping and fully mesmerized from beginning to end - it was the most incredible concert I've ever experienced.

jeffp, we've spoke of this before. My most intense musical experience was dropping a half of acid tab of some acid bought off of some 14 yr old, continuously smoking hash up to San Francisco (about 45 -50 min), and seeing Zappa's 200 Motels. We were 17.

Just walking into the theater, painted red and black, was vibrating. Another fellow split the LSD with me, and the other few friends just smoked the hash. Who'd of thought that kid had such good LSD?

Our group sat though it twice. The fellow who split the tab with me was hiding in the bathroom after about 1/2 of the first time through. He thought Zappa was the devil and was trying to get him (a weak plot line). We never saw that friend again. He became a very devout Christian and moved to Oakland.

It really was incredibly stony. It really made an impression on me. To this day I'll break out singing some line.

Sorry. I guess that was kind of off topic. I'm the Thread Killer

jeff, I'm surprised you haven't started a new thread with this!

I've had three intense LSD concerts. The first time I ever dropped, we went to see Savoy Brown. I was next to the stage in a very small venue and will never forget Chris Youlden in his stars & stripes coat and top hat and cigar. I had Peter Max visions and their music in my head all night. A great trip.

The second, we thought we were going to see Al Cooper. The Super Sessions lp had just come out and we were pretty geeked. Lo and behold, it was Alice Cooper. We came out of that concert covered in chicken feathers and pretty freaked out, but I became an Alice fan after that. He was just so outrageous for the time.

The last concert, I don't even know who played. That's not the part I remember. I freaked out about half way through; the only time it ever happened to me and I tripped every week for a couple of years. We had a great source back then, straight out of CA (Sandoz). This time, we got it local. Pretty sure it was laced with something else and I was in pain and very paranoid. And, we were with some people that were, as we said in the day, really bogue. My friend got me out of there and the rest of that night was so freaky; major hallucinations. But, once I was away from the people who were giving off such negative vibes, the night turned out pretty fun. Just shows you how the right atmosphere can make a difference.

And this is where I bring it sort of back on topic.....I think the right atmosphere is really important when getting buzzed, especially when you get more buzzed than you anticipated or it's the first time. When people do edibles, they don't know what to expect; how strong it will be, what it's like, etc. If you feel comfortable in your surroundings and with the people you are with, it helps tremendously.

Has anyone tried the leaching method with coconut oil?
Unfortunately I dont think this would work (as well) with coco oil unless you had it on enough of a heat source to keep the coco oil from hardening. Im thinking of using the candle warmer method to see how that pans out.

I'm sorry, I read the whole thread and it seems that you guys have come to a new conclusion, are you saying all I have to do is

1: Grind the vaped weed using a coffee grinder
2: throw vaped weed into brownie mix and make as normal?

No, I personally am not saying that at all, however I have not tried that approach to voice an opinion.
The two areas of debate for best effects are whether or not you strain and separate the oil from the bud after simmering for 30 minutes or just throw everything into the mix, which is what I have done, and...
whether it's better to simmer for 30 minutes or not to simmer at all, but rather to let the oil get infused slowly through letting it sit for a week or so with the vaped bud.
I did in fact get great results using that method. possibly even better results but there are other variables at play here so it's hard to say for sure one way or the other.

That said, the original recipe is perfect as is without any experimentation.

But for me, your method seems to be the path I will end up choosing with my next batch of brownies. (Cause Im lazy and impatient)
Grind it and toss it in the mix. (With some nuts and creme de menthe chips)

WOO WOO!!

I don't know - you've waited weeks, or months if you use an efficient vape, to amass a collection of ABV for brownies; 30 minutes of simmering is not a big deal, obviously, or even a week's wait for natural leeching may be well worth it if the effects are superior.

i tried the recipe and i can definitely tast the bud in the oil but i can't feel the effects lol DAMN TOLERANCE. I let it simmer on low for like 40-45 min and then mixed it in with ghiradelli chocolate squares and walnuts. I think next time i will grind the ABV and just dump it in and cover it up with m&m and walnuts and will feel the effect more or let it leech for a week. I used around 7.5g of ABV and around 1/2 cup of oil it what i got out and it was all dark green and i was expecting a nice effect but feel like either the extreme took everything out of the ABV or i did not let it sit long enough. I still have like 5g of ABV so i might wait till i hit 7g and make a batch of something lol.

thanks
