The Lotus Vaporizer

Does anyone know the size of the lotus hex screws? I found one site that said 3/32", though I'm not sure if that's accurate.

Ah-cha! I think I finally figured this Lotus-thingy-ma-jigger!

The draw resistance had increased a bit and I thought the screen was clogged. After lifting the screen, I realized all the powder-fine grind that I was initially using had nearly completely clogged up the bowl and stem.

I am vaping bowl after bowl right now, and it is finally performing as I expect it should. No burning, and ABV is coming out golden brown- no longer scorched or blackened at all.

I think my issue with combustion was mostly contributed to the clogged pipe. With only a hairpin opening to the mouthpiece, the hot air in the bowl had no where to go and was scorching my herb. After cleaning the pipe, I am able to hit it a lot harder and show zero signs of dark, black or combustion.

I may try to sneak to the LHS later this week for some finer screens.

Thanks for all the guidance guys; I know I have had a lot of questions the last weeks and I appreciate the help!

I got my PA to fit in my healthstone handvape pipe using a bit of silicone tubing to secure it in there.
Works pretty good, line of sight is a little awkward, but not too bad considering how small they really are. Great size for pocket use...just a little pricy. I also managed to make it work with my VG handcarved pipe body, same thing, bit of silicone tubing in the bowl, then pop the PA in.

I've been keeping my eyes peeled :o for any kind of smaller glass pipe that looks like a good contender for the lotus, so if I see anything I'll be sure to post about it. Ideally, more of a sherlock style would be best, so you get the bowl lower than the stem, for visual reasons. Somebody posted this in the J hook thread, it looks nice, but not at all a pocket piece...

Isn't that a walnut hand carved vapor genie bottom jambandphan? I have one of those.

Anyway, I've switched my technique with the lotus a bit. I am now taking smaller hits. Someone a few pages back was saying that they only ever get one hit out of the lotus. That is how I was using it for a while recently, but now I'm finding that I wasn't getting as much out of the experience with that technique. Now I'm using a short 1/2"-5/8" flame, preheating for 5 seconds, and backing off the flame as soon as I taste a little heat through the al stem or my j-hook. The result is that I'm now getting much better flavor and apparently better efficiency. My abv is never super dark any more either. Plus, I get to enjoy multiple hits off of one bowl.

Yep :)

I am not sure of the size, but when I was considering buying a tool to use on mine, I noticed that the Lotus replacement plate also comes with a tool and extra screws, so for $18 shipped I got the tool and replacement parts. Just something to consider. I will say the tool I got is very tiny (thin) so you will need to be gentle.

Hey All,

I'm seriously considering selling my Solo and getting a Lotus and a Vapolution 2.0. The Lotus may even replace my T1 if it can equal it for quick, big, flavorful hits.

How thoroughly can the Lotus be cleaned up? To give you an idea of what I would be comfortable with, I would pack my T1 if I was going overseas, while I would not pack the Solo.

Also, would this water pipe be good with the Lotus?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The lotus can be cleaned up almost like new. The stem and/or wpa can be soaked in iso. The area you might have a problem with is the inside of the vapor cap. The inside of the wood gets gunked up with goo and particles. I haven't bothered cleaning mine yet in that area yet, so I'm not sure how hard it is.

That pipe would be and I think has been used very well with the lotus. I think BLAZING OG has one of those.

As others have said, under the cap is going to be pretty hard. I wouldn't take my Lotus overseas since I can't access every crevice of the cap, and even a few specs of bud could be problematic.

The best method I have is to just bang the wood side on a table to knockoff some bud, then brush some of it. Keep banging and brushing until nothing comes out... But I still see a couple specs at the end though.

Stick with the T1 for international, but I think Lotus might become your domestic vape for bud. ;)

Thanks All for the responses. It looks like the T1 can't be beat for international travel.

Is anyone cleaning the wood inside the cap more aggressively than banging and brushing? Can ISO be used if you only slightly dampen a cloth or cotton bud? I know that people swab their Ed's Solo Stems with ISO and that Ed recommends this.

Speaking of Ed, how good would a vapor cap made from Blackwood or Bog Oak like he uses for stems be? I like the look of the black cap the best on the Lotus but don't feel comfortable with the idea of paint in a hot area. I'm guessing that my concerns are unfounded?

How does the Lotus go for taste after a combustion event if you don't clean with ISO?

Thanks again for any responses people are able to give.

Cheers

I combusted in my Lotus and didn't clean it. Still tastes great. There is only aluminium or glass from the bowl onward... not much where the taste can cling to.

Regarding air travel, the vapor cap is indeed something to beware although i doubt if you vacuum the cap there would be any debris left but the T1 can be squeaky clean of course.

I don't think your concerns are entirely unfounded. That's why I got a natural cap.

As for exotic woods, it would be nice to see an exotic wood stem for the lotus. The vapor cap wood wouldn't affect the flavor much I don't think. I've never used an Ed's stem though. They do add some flavor, right?

I've had my best day of Lotus use today. I think I finally figured out why I was constantly scorching herb. Every other vape I've tried you have to sip very slowly, but I'm finding that my Lotus performs best with a faster draw.
Also remembering to move it in a circle after a few bowls :dog:

Snow storm came through tonight, so no driving for me. My girlfriend has lost power, so it's possible I will too soon. I don't mind though, I have a Lotus

It's a very nice piece but you do need to tip the lighter a little. I only use this as a "show" piece really as I don't feel as solid holding it as I do my can style stuff. It is nice that you can lay it down though.

The Chinese can style with the 14mm elevated female joint just works perfect for me as a daily driver with the lotus. Like this: LINK (only the top shower-head fires but it does it well and it's only $22.00). I have a video on here somewhere using it with a T-Vape but if you would like I can take a Lotus video. I have seen other style perks in the same body also (4 arm, and honeycomb). It has a perfect viewing angle for the lotus, is easy to clean, and I have two of them for i̶f̶ when one breaks!

My advice. Buy one of the $22.00 "quad" shower-heads (hurry, there is only 953 left in stock, or maybe a Dozo (but you might need an adapter? Can someone chime in that has one if you need an adapter to use with the lotus, as I don't have one.... yet!) and maybe wait till 04/20 to see if PV does any good specials. If you decide to get the Black Leaf now you can use the code FCLOVE10 for 10% off.

Then after you get that you can officially start you GAS journey! :science:

Thanks a lot mate. Don't worry about the vid. I'll take your word for it on the viewing and lighter angle, although the black leaf doesn't look too bad.

I see the WPA lifts out without any problems. That was going to be my next question as the o-rings were a bit of a concern.

How much water goes in each of these pieces? Is the flavour stronger on one than the other? How is the resistance on each?

I've got a PNWT which I love with my Solo for the light resistance and presumably limited effect on the flavour - not so much for the head down hitting posture and subsequent drooling tendencies.

I don't need a lot of diffusion. I mostly use water to hydrate the vapour.

The look and feel of this Lotus is so much like my combustion days, closest thing I have found yet... In fact, yesterday I got so comfortable I accidentally torched it without putting the top piece on! YUCK! That left a funky taste- looks like a cleaning is in my near future:uhoh:

Any of you all ever accidentally start burning your herb in the Lotus, like some old habbit? It was awful!

I almost did that this morning. I felt puzzled that... "somethings... not right..." then I realized I had everything in position; lips on mouthpiece poised to strike with jet flame precision at a capless bowl... whoops... glad I hadnt clicked that puppy for ignition.

done it at least 3 times... as I was clicking the lighter I realized, but too late...

There's been plenty of times that I've almost clicked the button on my lighter with the cap on. Would this melt the cap? Im not sure what it's made of.

I"m pretty sure it wont' light with the cap on, it smothers it, so gas might escape, but I don't think it will ignite, unless somebody wants to prove me wrong on this...

PALE BLUE DOT
When I use my other vapes I am finding that I wish I was using my Lotus. I told my pal the other day that if I had tried my Lotus first I possibly would have never purchased another vape. Sure, that was I lie but the Lotus is the best by far if you are looking for the best taste, results, and control.
You talk about flavor benefit?
Why do you own a MFLB?

steama, how about your firefly? Do you wish you were using your lotus when you're using your firefly? I'm just curious because I love my lotus too but am looking for an equivalent with battery power. The firefly sounds like it might fit that description.
