Does anyone else find it great pleasure to lick the keif off the end of the hose after you pull the dbv wand off to clean it lol. I do this daily. :)

Also jus a little somthin i personally did to my dbv witch im sure alot of others have too but i moved my heating element up to where there is only a little space between the ceramic element and the top of the heater cover. I now start my session at 10am
and end at 12 with chocolate brown abv ;) i like this better than starting at 12 and ending on 2 or 3 like most people do because i feel like im saving power and not stressing the machine as much. Kus my personal experience. Vape on!

Hey can anyone tell me if its ok to turn down the da buddha all the way to right before it clicks and then just unplug it ? Ive read on here alot of people just leave it pluged in but turned down all the way to right before it clicks to prolong the life of the knob switch. I dont like leaving it on though when im not here so i just turn it down to before the click and unplug it. Is this ok to do? Hell is it even on when its turned down all the way before the click? If i turn it down like that i can put my hand right on the HC and its completely cool and the red light in the back is off.? Idk im high lol

When I turn the knob all the way to the right my DBV is on max...
I really don't understand what you are doing. Turning it down before the click, then unplugging. What?
Mine is always plugged in, turned all the way to the LEFT in the OFF state. When I wanna vape, I turn it to the right, the click signals the DBV is on, about 1-2 o'clock.
Yes, yes it seems so :D

Ok get it. Well, aren't those usually made for tens of thousands of *clicks* though? Because I can't really imagine me getting more then 730 *clicks* on mine in a year.

Still, good point, mine is connected to a power strip with switches for every plug so I can turn it off there from now on.

Im not turning it to the right lol im talking about when i shut off the unit. instead off turning it all the
way to the left in the "off" position like you do i
turn it to right before it clicks off and leave it there. its less wear and tear on the knob.

Edit:
I like the power strip idea Im gunna do that for sure.

I was finally refunded $60 for an ebay SSV that was shipped to the wrong address. Then I bought a DBV at a slightly more believable price.

That $78 used ebay DBV arrived yesterday, DOA. No heat or LED, the seller says it worked before it was shipped, and the box appeared undamaged.

Shipping and or refunds take forever, and this sad DBV needs fixing. My money's tied up anyways for weeks and this thing is here on my desk.

To try to fix it myself, or just hold out for when/if I get my money back... ? When the heating element fails, does the LED usually still work or no? I guess I could answer that if I open it up but not yet.

I like the idea of sending a cheap, used, broken one to 7th floor and getting a brand new one back, with a net cost of much less than retail. If I paid more like $40 I'd consider this route.

I'm not giving up yet since I didn't agree to buy a dead item and that's what I got. If I can arrange a partial refund I'll keep it I think. I hope I don't get stuck with an $80 brick. Updates later.

The answer is yes
Plain and simple.
Yes.
You will preserve the life of the switch, while keeping your mind at ease that there is nothing at home plugged in and turned on.

Imagine a lan controlled power strip, connected to your router, controlles by a small html interface...

I have to do some research when I get home. I know there are lan controlled powerstrips, the question is, can you access them via internet.

Did you see the dimmer I posted on the e-nano thread?

Ube U1000 Smart Wi-Fi Dimmer

But I also found this:

LockState LS-P100

  • Turn power on and off remotely from your computer, laptop, or smart phone
  • Set schedules to have the strip stay on or off between specific times of the day and monitor power use remotely
  • Also acts as a surge protector
  • 6 outlets in all, 4 that can be controlled remotely and 2 that are always on
  • Requires 0.99 monthly service fee
Ugh, 1$ monthly fee. So 12$ a year I guess.

Was thinking more of something like this:
http://www.conrad.ch/ce/de/product/...CH-Stecker-Gembird-201011759?ref=searchDetail

Pretty much the same, a bit pricier, but you have full controll and no monthly fee. Access via Lan or Internet, programming via HTML interface. Have to check reviews/alternatives/international versions though. Also, according to the description, devices connected to it are insured up to 100.000 Euros against damage by power surges. :D

@MileHighLife If you're notching, you might consider doing an inlay. Shave a toothpick to fit in the hole with some wood glue. If you prep it just right, you might avoid shaving/sanding after it's glued to preserve the knob's existing finish. You could also stain the toothpick before glue stage. Just an idea.

Looks cool and I bet it's nice not to have a metal knob on the finger tips.

I just received a blemished unit from 7th Floors and couldn't be happier. I read all 138 pages while waiting. Here is what I have gathered.
I thought it would put out big clouds but I am happy to report I am blowing out the big clouds.

Turn it down!

Give it the wa-wa suck (Like a milkshake ) each stop and go clears the chamber.

Draw less (3/4 of the way. Save some room for the hold.) and hold longer.

Reset the knob to your sweet spot. (Good taste 11:30, Good clouds {from you} 12:30, Finish up final clouds with no black residue 1:30

Don't feel compelled to consume the whole thing at once. That is a holdover from combustion days. You can walk away and come back as often as you like.

If you are coughing you are not enjoying the miracle.

Different materials require different heating spots.

Much thanks to the regulars past & present.
Is there a great tool for scraping wand?

I Put two water bottle caps underneath the stand in the back on those two back rubber balls. It works great for proping up the back just enough to give you a slight slant forward.
Its easier to pass to a friend too cause when u pick up on the front a little it will slide on the back caps so you dont have to pick it up. Jus wanted to share!

I talked to a friend of mine who works as carpenter and does all kinds of wood craft and he agreed to make a custom wood baseplate for my DBV. My idea is put two keyboard-style feet in the back of the base so you can change the angle at a whim. We will see how it turns out, will post pictures when done (may take a while as he is moving atm).
