Want your dreams back?

Is this stuff hepatoxic, or am I reading something wrong?

Where did you read that?
This is from the wiki, where I couldn't find any mention of toxicity.

Pharmacological study

Close-up of tulasi leaves

Some of the main chemical constituents of tulsi are: oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, rosmarinic acid, eugenol, carvacrol, linalool, β-caryophyllene (about 8%),[15] β-elemene (c.11.0%), and germacrene D (about 2%).[18]

A variety of in vitro studies and animal studies have indicated some potential pharmacological properties of Ocimum tenuiflorum or its extracts. Recent studies suggest tulasi may be a COX-2 inhibitor, like many modern painkillers, due to its high concentration of eugenol.[19] The fixed oil has demonstrated antihyperlipidemic and cardioprotective effects in rats fed a high fat diet.[20]

Some laboratory experiments on extracts of Ocimum tenuiflorum have indicated they may have potential in future pharmaceutical applications in the field of cancer treatment, and mitigating the effects of radiation exposure.[21]

Isolated O. sanctum extracts have some antibacterial activity against E. coli, S. aureus and P. aeruginosa.[22]

:hmm:
I have heard of people vaping holy basil, no experience with it though.

I drink it. You don't have to vape everything ;)

For anyone curious, I purchased an organic loose leaf, and steeped 3 teaspoons in about 12 oz of water for about 15 min.

So making the tea and drinking it probably took about 30 minutes then? I know I don't have to, but vaporizing it would just be all around easier and faster than making tea for me. I'd really like to mix it with a bowl of chamomile and lavender or something.

Word, so somebody give it a try! Then there's no excuse for not trying, I know all of you have vapes! :science:

Not even. I had a fairly empty stomach, and I felt pretty relaxed within 10 minutes. Nothing earth shattering, but it's nice.

Tulsi tea. (Holy basil)

Drinking this herbal tea (tulsi and Brahmi or three tulsi are my favourites so far) has brought back my dreams regardless of whether I'm high or not.

seriously eh? it's been like 13 years since I had regular dream patterns. That would be nice. Gonna try this out. cheers!

I haven't had vivid dreams in years, then I started taking Alpha Brain from Onnit. Wowzers.

I also read that if you want to have more vivid dreams, that you should set your alarm for 2 hours before you want to get up, wake up, then fall back to sleep. Causes you to have pretty wild dreams.

I always have dreams, I remember them all too, it seems some people just get affected and some do not.

I really do not know what to say, I cannot say diet, because my diet isn't all that amazing. I am usually deep in thought when I sleep, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do wit it.

Good luck all!

Outlaw is Irish Injun. I didn't have a chance. I'm sure I was born with a resistance to alcohol. They gave me whisky for teething, they gave me beer when I was a toddler to sleep, and now I don't really drink because I can run up several hundred dollars in a night in @a bar. Dive bar, no dancers.

I know ppl with sleep apnea and insomnia. Sleep lab test, brain wave recorders, all that. But I would like to admit out loud that I've never heard of that. And it's a subscription you say? Don't tell me...it's an Iphone app? Those things are amazing.

EDIT- Outlaw can't spell.

ALmost forgot- If I want to dream I sleep cold. Really cold. Crazy stuff in REM. I should look it up.

Holy smokes Outlaw, PNWMMJ is also an Irish Injun, with almost the same story. Crazy. Never ran across anybody that could out drink me. Lots tried. Quit that crap 3 years ago for health issues and haven't looked back, don't miss it one bit now.

Back on track....

Tulsi tea eh, I have tea mixed for me by a local herbalist, she mixes wonderful organic tea concoctions according to your ailments and/or whatever effect your after. Much better/stronger than the yogi teas I had been using and I really enjoyed those.

Any idea if this tea would help or hinder insomnia issues?

...and I have a local herbalist who makes me the most wonderful organic tea concoctions that taste in credible, custom blended to my needs.

She has a sleep blend which is great.

well it's started, and i don't even drink the stuff regularly! both good and bad dreams, but hey, that's noticeable within 2 weeks time!

I dreamt I both (in separate dreams) won the lottery so to say, and with another one I went through a breakup with my ex again.

I'd call that a success! impressive!

I don't recall dreaming for the last 10+ years... so this is neat.

Just wanted to put out there that we always dream even if we don't remember them. It is the subconscious's way of organizing things and "taking out the trash" so to speak. For me, I tend to have those deep subconscious dreams early in the night and will only remember them if I happen to wake up in the night. I used to keep a voice recorder handy to record them, but not so much any more.

The second type of dream tends to happen later in the sleep cycle where we venture out into the etheric realm and do things. It's a weird, wild realm, so sometimes we end up doing crazy stuff. Best advice there is to 'stay home' and don't go out looking for trouble. :-)

Nice, if a slight weirdache present that's neither here nor there, cause it seems meritful.
Nice taste, novel feeling. Maybe it's the music, artist Koan.

i wouldn't mind remembering my dreams, i think i might try it out, are there any possible negatives to it? I know someone mentioned ginkgo biloba earlier in the thread, that gave me rapid thoughts when i was taking it. anything like that with the tulsi?

When my wife passed away in 2002 ,
I'd used to have dreams about her often , in the beginning .
And I would wake up in tears , pillow literally soaked .

Now the dreams of her have subsided immensely , but when I do
have them . She is just a passing face in the crowd , so to speak
Sometimes , I would only recollect afterwards . I'm guessing that's the norm ...

Interesting Topic , Thanx for letting me share .
btw , I love dreaming , I can't fathom Not having them in my life

I think you read it wrong, from first glance on wikipedia it seems to be antihepatoxic and help with the liver not hurt it.

I have been vaporing 4:1 abv : Tulsi with good results. Going to be branching out a bit from the main herb but will keep some going for pain and productivity, I have some injurious woes
